4-3-3. Upgrading method
Procedure
1.
Copy the latest firmware (together with the downloaded and extracted folder) to the directory of a
memory stick or PC card.
2.
Insert the memory stick or PC card containing the latest firmware into the memory stick slot or PC
card slot of this unit and connect the power cord to the printer. (The power LED then lights in red.)
3.
Press the  POWER  key while pressing the  Menu  and  Print  keys simultaneously.
4.
Release the  Menu  and  Print  keys when the “ALL SELECT” and “DPOF” LEDs light and when the
buzzer “beeps”.
5.
The firmware is upgraded in the order below.
n
Do not pull out the power cord during upgrading.
(1)
The “ALL SELECT” and “DPOF” LEDs light, and the “PC CARD” LED blinks.
(2)
The “ALL SELECT” and “DPOF” LEDs light, and the “PC CARD”, “CD-RW”, “VIDEO”,
and “PC” LEDs blink.
(3)
The “ALL SELECT” and “DPOF” LEDs light, and the “Memory stick”, “PC CARD”, “CD-
RW”, “VIDEO”, and “PC” LEDs blink.
(4)
The “ALL SELECT” LED lights, and the “Memory stick”, “PC CARD”, “CD-RW”, “VIDEO”,
and “PC” LEDs blink at short intervals.
(5)
The “ALL SELECT” and “DPOF” LEDs blink alternately.  Upgrading is completed.
6.
After completion is confirmed, disconnect the power cord from the printer and remove the memory
stick or PC card from the printer.
7.
Connect the power cord to the printer and then connect the video cable, connected to the monitor
television, to the video output terminal of the printer.
8.
Press the  POWER  key while pressing the  Menu  and  Save  keys simultaneously.
9.
Release the  POWER  key when the service mode screen below is displayed on the screen of the
monitor television.
10. Confirm that the “Check Sum” value displayed at the bottom of the monitor screen is the same as the
technical memo value.
11. Press the  POWER  key and disconnect the power cord and video cable from the printer.

SAFETY CHECK-OUT
After correcting the original service problem,
perform the following safety checks before
releasing the set to the customer :
Check the metal trim, “metallized” knobs, screws,
and all other exposed metal parts for AC
leakage. Check leakage as described below.
LEAKAGE TEST
The AC leakage from any exposed metal part to
earth ground and from all exposed metal parts to
any exposed metal part having a return to
chassis, must not exceed 3.5 mA. Leakage
current can be measured by any one of three
methods.
1. A commercial leakage tester, such as the
Simpson 229 or RCA WT-540A. Follow the
manufacturers’ instructions to use these
instruments.
2. A battery-operated AC milliammeter. The
Data Precision 245 digital multimeter is
suitable for this job.
3. Measuring the voltage drop across a resistor
by means of a VOM or battery-operated AC
voltmeter. The “limit” indication is 5.25 V, so
analog meters must have an accurate low-
voltage scale. The Simpson 250 and Sanwa
SH-63Trd are examples of a passive VOM
that is suitable. Nearly all battery operated
digital multimeters that have a 20 V AC range
are suitable. (See Fig. A)
