6-2. MECHANISM SECTION ADJUSTMENT
On the mechanism section adjustment
For detail of mechanism section adjustments, checks, and replacement
of mechanism parts, refer to the separate volume “DV MECHANICAL
ADJUSTMENT MANUAL     Z (Z200) Mechanism ”.
Note:
Before performing the adjustments, check the data of page: 0,
address: 10 is “00”. If not, set data: 00 to this address.

HOW TO ENTER RECORD MODE WITHOUT
CASSETTE
1)
Connect the adjustment remote commander to the LANC jack.
2)
Turn the HOLD switch of the adjustment remote commander
to the ON position.
3)
Close the cassette compartment without the cassette.
4)
Select page: 3, address: 01, and set data: 0C, and press the
PAUSE button of the adjustment remote commander.
(The mechanism enters the record mode automatically.)
Note:
The function buttons becomes inoperable.
5)
To quit the record mode, select page: 3, address: 01, set data:
00, and press the PAUSE button of the adjustment remote
commander. (Whenever you want to quit the record mode, be
sure to quit following this procedure.)

HOW TO ENTER PLAYBACK MODE WITHOUT
CASSETTE
1)
Connect the adjustment remote commander to the LANC jack.
2)
Turn the HOLD switch of the adjustment remote commander
to the ON position.
3)
Close the cassette compartment without the cassette.
4)
Select page: 3, address: 01, and set data: 0B, and press the
PAUSE button of the adjustment remote commander.
(The mechanism enters the playback mode automatically.)
Note:
The function buttons becomes inoperable.
5)
To quit the playback mode, select page: 3, address: 01, set data:
00, and press the PAUSE button of the adjustment remote
commander. (Whenever you want to quit the playback mode,
be sure to quit following this procedure.)

TAPE PATH ADJUSTMENT
1. Preparation for Adjustment
1)
Clean the tape running side (tape guide, drum, capstan shaft,
pinch roller, etc.).
2)
Connect the adjustment remote commander to the LANC jack.
3)
Turn the HOLD switch of the adjustment remote commander
to the ON position.
4)
Connect an oscilloscope to VC-366 board CN1004 via the CPC
connecting jigs. (J-6082-521-A, J-6082-564-A)
Channel 1: VC-366 board, CN1004 Pin 1 (Note)
External trigger: VC-366 board, CN1004 Pin 2
Note:
Connect a 75
 resistor between Pins 1 of CN1004 and 3
(GND).
5)
Playback the alignment tape for tracking. (XH2-1)
6)
Select page: 3, address: 33, and set data: 08.
7)
Select page: 3, address: 26, set data: 31, and press PAUSE
button.
8)
Check that the oscilloscope RF waveform is normal at the
entrance and exit.
If not normal, adjust according to the separate volume
“DV MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT MANUAL 
Z (Z200) Mechanism  ”.

Use the following measuring instruments for video section
adjustments.

3-1-2. Precautions on Adjusting
Note1:
Before performing the adjustments, check the data of page: 0,
address: 10 is “00”. If not, set data: 00 to this address.

The adjustments of this unit are performed in the VTR mode
(PLAY/EDIT mode) or camera mode (CAMERA-TAPE mode).
To set to the VTR mode, set the power switch to “PLAY/EDIT”
or set the “Forced VTR Power ON mode” using the adjusting
remote commander (Note2).
To set to the camera mode, set the power switch to “CAMERA-
TAPE” or set the “Forced Camera Power ON mode” using the
adjusting remote commander (Note3).
After completing adjustments, be sure to exit the “Forced VTR
Power ON Mode” or “Forced Camera Power ON Mode”.

The grip block must be connected, because the mechanism deck
and RP-241 board are built into the grip block. Therefore, the
following connector must be connected.
VC-366 board CN1007 (80P, 0.4mm)
3)
The ILINK connector of JK-271 board need not be connected.
To remove it, disconnect the following connector.
VC-366 board CN1008 (10P, 0.5mm)
4)
The SE-149 board (angular velocity sensors) and camera/panel
function switches need not be connected. To remove them,
disconnect the following connector.
VC-366 board CN1009 (15P, 0.3mm)
5)
The MS-220 board (memory stick connector) need not be
connected. To remove it, disconnect the following connector.
VC-366 board CN1006 (10P, 0.5mm)
6)
The LCD block (LCD panel, touch panel, PD-220 board, control
switch block (PS8200)) need not be connected. (Use the
adjustment remote commander, to operate the VTR block.) To
remove it, disconnect the following connector.
VC-366 board CN1002 (23P, 0.3mm)
7)
The lens block (CD-516 board, LD-163 board) need not be
connected. To remove it, disconnect the following connector.
VC-366 board CN5001 (80P, 0.4mm)
VC-366 board CN1010 (40P, 0.4mm)

To open the VC-366 board, use the following extension cable
between the VC-366 board CN1001 and DB-017 board
CN2106.

The FP-953 flexible (flash switch, reset switch, lithium battery)
need not be connected. But removing FP-953 flexible (removing
DB-017 board CN2103) means removing the lithium 3V power
supply (FP-953 flexible, BT1001), data such as date, time, user-
set menus will be lost. After completing adjustments, reset these
data.
But, the self-diagnosis data and the data on history of use (total
drum rotation time etc.) will be kept even if the cabinet (R)
block has been removed. (Refer to “6-4.Service Mode” for the
data on the history use and the self-diagnosis data.)
To remove the Battery holder and the EVF block, disconnect
the following connectors.
DB-017 board CN2103 (8P, 0.5mm)
10) The MIC jacks and the remote commander receiver need not
be connected. To remove them, disconnect the following
connector.
DB-017 board CN2101 (17P, 0.3mm)
11) The battery terminal need not be connected. To remove them,
disconnect the following connector.
DB-017 board CN1203 (14P, 0.5mm)
12) The intelligent accessory shoe is need not be connected. To
remove it, disconnect the following connector.
DB-017 board CN2102 (10P, 0.5mm)
13) The EVF block (LB-015 board) is need not be connected. To
remove it, disconnect the following connector.
DB-017 board CN2100 (29P, 0.3mm)
14) The flash circuit (ST-106 board, flash unit (FL8200)) need not
be connected. To remove it, disconnect the following connector.
DB-017 board CN2104 (19P, 0.3mm)
15) By setting the “Forced VTR Power ON mode”, the VTR section
can be operate even if the control switch block (PS8200) has
been removed from RP-241 board of the grip block. When
removing it, disconnect the following connector.
RP-241 board CN1403 (16P, 0.5mm)
Note2:
Setting the “Forced VTR Power ON” mode (PLAY/EDIT mode)
1) Select page: 0, address: 01, and set data: 01.
2) Select page: A, address: 10, set data: 02, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjusting remote commander.
The above procedure will enable the VTR power to be turned on
with the control switch block (PS8200) removed.
After completing adjustments, be sure to exit the “Forced Power
ON mode”.
Note3:
Setting the “Forced Camera Power ON” mode (CAMERA-TAPE
mode)
1) Select page: 0, address: 01, and set data: 01.
2) Select page: A, address: 10, set data: 01, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjusting remote commander.
The above procedure will enable the camera power to be turned
on with the control switch block (PS8200) removed.
After completing adjustments, be sure to exit the “Forced Power
ON mode”.
Note4:
Setting the “Forced Memory Power ON” mode (CAMERA-
MEMORY mode)
1) Select page: 0, address: 01, and set data: 01.
2) Select page: A, address: 10, set data: 05, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjusting remote commander.
The above procedure will enable the memory power to be turned
on with the control switch block (PS8200) removed.
After completing adjustments, be sure to exit the “Forced Power
ON mode”.
Note5:
Exiting the “Forced Power ON” mode
1) Select page: 0, address: 01, and set data: 01.
2) Select page: A, address: 10, set data: 00, and press the PAUSE
button of the adjusting remote commander.
3) Select page: 0, address: 01, and set data: 0
