1-5. PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
1-5-1. Periodic Maintenance
Opening/closing the battery/memory card cover or multi-connector cover may lead to degradation of the sealing gasket. We recommend that once 
a year you take the camera to your dealer, or to an authorized repair shop, to have the sealing gasket replaced for a fee.
Instruction manual recommends the periodic maintenance as shown above.
If there is the request for check, perform the procedure below.
Checking Items
•  Confirm that there is no air-leak.
•  Confirm that there is no strain on the exterior.
•  Confirm that there is not any dust on the BT lid and ML lid.
•  Replace the BT Lid packing and ML Assy.
1-5-2. Replacing the ML Packing
1.  Remove the two fixed screws of ML Packing.
2.  Remove the packing, and confirm that there is no scratch such as defect on the ML Cover or ML Packing Fixed Plate.
3.  Install the new ML Packing. (also use the new screws)
Note: Be careful that there is no dust on the packing.
5.  Write the indicated value, leave for 1 minute, and check the pressure changes value is satisfied the following value by comparing between written 
indicated value and indicated value.
 
Specification value  0.45 kPa or less: OK
 
 
0.46 kPa or more: NG
Caution: Do not open the connector cover and the battery/memory card cover for two minutes after the leak test.

1-4-3. In The Case of Inspection Result NG
Perform by following procedure
1.   Confirm that there are not any dust on the BT lid and ML lid.
 
          ↓
 
Confirm that there is not any dust on the vacuum pad.
 
          ↓
 
Cover the microphone hole so as not to damage the Microphone Sheet.
 
(Cover the microphone hole with silicon sheet for radiation(4-174-010-01 etc.) )
 
          ↓
 
Expand the suction time for 60 seconds, and perform the measurement again.
2.  Check the cabinet condition, and then perform the measurement again.
3.  If there is no improvement symptom, replace the cabinet (front) assy and the the cabinet (rear) assy, and perform the measurement again

Note: If the TP adhesive sheet is not removed after alcohol or ethanol was applied to the location specified in step 2, also apply it to the locations shown in the figure 
below.
 
3.  Insert a precision flat-blade screwdriver to generate a gap.
 
Apply alcohol or ethanol to the tip of the screwdriver.
 
Insert the screwdriver into the gap between the LCD assy and the rear cabinet assy and move the screwdriver slowly to detach the LCD assy.
 
Detach the LCD assy while removing the adhering TP adhesive sheet.
 
Note: The TP adhesive sheet is attached to the location shown in the figure below.
 
Do not insert a precision flat-blade screwdriver or the like beyond this location.
 
If it is inserted into inside the location, it may damage the LCD assy.

4.  Remove the TP adhesive sheet completely to clear the adhesion of the sheet.
 
Do not left the adhesive material.
1-5-3. Replacing the BTL Packing
1.  Remove the two fixed screws of BTL Packing.
 
2.  Remove the packing, and confirm that there is no scratch such as defect on the BTL Cover or BTL Packing Fixed Plate.
 
3.  Install the new BTL Packing. (also use the new screws)
Note: Be careful that there is no dust on the packing.
1-6.  Replacing the LCD Assy
Note: The LCD assy and the rear cabinet assy are fixed with double-sided adhesive tape.
 
Disassemble and assemble them according to the instructions.
1.  Remove the ornamental rear cabinet.
2.  To remove TP adhesive sheet (double-sided adhesive tape), apply alcohol or ethanol to the location shown in the figure.
 
Insert a precision flat-blade screwdriver (0.2 mm tip) or a spatula between the LCD assy and the rear cabinet assy, and apply alcohol or ethanol.

5.  Peel the new TP adhesive sheet off the base and attach it to the specified location of the rear cabinet assy.
 
6.  Pass the flexible cable of the LCD assy through the hole in the rear cabinet assy.
 
7.  Attach the LCD assy to the specified location of the rear cabinet assy.
Note:  Match the LCD assy accurately with the specified location and attach it tightly.
 
1-7.  PRECAUTION ON REPLACING THE SY-279 BOARD
DESTINATION DATA
When you replace to the repairing board, the written destination data of repairing board also might be changed to original setting.
Start the Adjust Manual in the Adjust Station and execute the “DESTINATION DATA WRITE”.
RESTORE DATA
When you replace to the repairing board, get the data from the former one.
Start the Adjust Manual in the Adjust Station and perform “RESTORE DATA” to get the data. 
The data getting for this model is as follows.
• USB SERIAL No.
• Angular Velocity Sensor Sensitivity adjustment
• AWB standard data input & check, Color reproduction check
Note: When you cannot read data from the former replace the same time SY-279 board and lens.
Regarding the PMB Portable
PMB Portable has been written in internal memory.
SY-279 board for service is supplied with written the PMB Portable.
USB SERIAL No.
The set is shipped with a unique ID (USB Serial No.) written in it.
This ID has not been written in a new board for service, and therefore it must be entered after the board replacement.
Start the Adjust Manual in the Adjust Station and execute the “USB SERIAL No. INPUT”.
Angular Velocity Sensor
When you replace to the repairing board, write down the sensitivity displayed on the angular velocity sensor (SE401).
Start the Adjust Manual in the Adjust Station and execute the “Angular velocity sensor sensitivity adj”.

1-8.  PRECAUTION ON REPLACING THE 
LENS
When replacing the lens, write down the PITCH/YAW data, FN 
data and wide limit data given on the data sheet of the replacement 
lens for service.
Start the Adjust Manual in the Adjust Station and execute the “Wide 
Limit adj.” and the “Angular velocity sensor sensitivity adj”.

1-9.  METHOD FOR COPYING OR ERASING THE DATA IN INTERNAL MEMORY
The data can be copied/erased by the operations on the HOME screen. (When erasing the data, execute formatting the internal memory.)
Note 1:When replacing the SY-279 board, erase the data in internal memory of the board before replacement.
Note 2:When replacing the SY-279 board, execute formatting and initialize the internal memory after replacement.
Method for Copying the Data in Internal Memory
Copy
Copies all images in the internal memory to a memory card. 
1. Insert a memory card with sufficient free capacity into the camera.

Notes
Use a fully charged battery pack. If you attempt to copy image files using a battery pack with little 
remaining charge, the battery pack may run out, causing copying to fail or possibly corrupting the 
data. 
Images cannot be copied individually. 
The original images in the internal memory are retained even after copying. To delete the 
contents of the internal memory, remove the memory card after copying, then format the internal 
memory ([Format] in [Internal Memory Tool]). 
The data will be copied to the recording folder that is currently being used, with a number one 
higher than the largest data number in that folder.

Method for Formatting the Internal Memory or “Memory Stick Duo” media
Format 
Formats the memory card or the internal memory.  
When you use a memory card with this camera for the first time, it is recommended to format the card 
using the camera for stable performance of the memory card before shooting. Note that formatting 
permanently erases all data on the memory card, and is unrecoverable. Save precious data on a 
computer, etc.

1-10.   HOW TO WRITE DATA TO INTERNAL MEMORY
Usually, the camera has been set so as to disable the data writing from the PC to the internal memory of the camera.
This setting must be changed temporarily when the data is to be written to the internal memory such as a case after the board replacement.
To change settings is enabled with using the writing enabler tool (Write Enable Tool) on the Adjust Manual is activating from the Adjust Station.
Data writing method
1)  Start the Adjust Manual from the Adjust Station.
2) Click 
 (Write Enable Tool) button.
3)  Click “Activate Write Enable Mode” button.
4)  Upon completion of the setting change, the following message will be displayed.
5)  Return the driver to the original one, and connect the PC to the camera (USB mode: Mass Storage).
6)  Write the data read out into the PC to the internal memory of the camera.
7)  Disconnect the PC from the camera, and turn off the camera.
Note: By turning off the camera, the write enable setting is reset.
