SECTION  4
MECHANICAL  ADJUSTMENT
4-1. ELEVATOR  HEIGHT  ADJUSTMENT
This adjustment should be done when replacing the rack assem-
bly on the parts related to it.
Procedure:
1. Fit the EV gear assembly after adjusting its slit position as
shown in the figure. (When the slit position is out of order
after fitting, it can be adjusted finely turning the worm gear of
the ELV motor.)
2. Fit the rack assembly putting it in the arrow A direction. At
this time insert a spacer (approx. 1 mm thickness) or fit the
rack assembly while pushing the EV chassis assembly in the
arrow B direction.

Note: When this adjustment is out of order, it doesn’t operate nor-
mally and the roaring of the motor can be heard. In this case
adjust again.

3. Press the BACK button on the wireless remote commander
until a beep sounds (for more than 2 seconds).
4. At the same time as a beep, “Test” is displayed at the upper
left of display, and the test mode is activated.
Releasing the Test Mode
1. Press the OFF button on the control unit.
Note: All operations except  OFF  button are done with the wire-
less remote commander.

TEST  MODE
This set have the test mode function.  In the test mode, FM Auto
Scan/Stop Level and AM Auto Scan/Stop Level adjustments can
be performed easier than it in ordinary procedure.
Setting the Test Mode
1. Press the OFF button on the control unit to turn off the set.
2. Press the following buttons on the wireless remote commander
in the given order.

Cautions during repair
When the tuner unit is defective, replace it by a new one be-
cause its internal block is difficult to repair.
Note: Adjust the tuner section in the sequence shown below.
1. FM Auto Scan/Stop Level Adjustment
2. FM Stereo Separation Adjustment
3. FM Noise Focus Adjustment
4. AM Auto Scan/Stop Level Adjustment
In making adjustment, connect the control unit and changer unit.

4. Using cursor buttons on the wireless remote commander, se-
lect preset No.3, and press the ENTER button.

5. Adjust with the volume RV203 on FM/AM tuner unit so that
the “FM” indication turns to “FM0” indication on the display
window.
But, in case of already indicated “FM0”, turn the RV203 so
that put out light “0” indication and adjustment.

TRACKING  OFFSET  ADJUSTMENT
Condition: This adjustment is performed with the set place hori-
zontally.

Adjustment Procedure:
1. Connect the oscilloscope to TP (TE) and TP (VC) on the
DRIVER board.
2. Put the set into play mode by loading the disc (YEDS-18).
3. Press the cursor buttons on the wireless remote commander,
observe the traverse waveform *.
4. Adjust the RV101 on the DRIVER board so that the oscillo-
scope reading is symmetrical in relation to 0 ± 0.05 V.
* Traverse waveform: This is the tracking error waveform appears
when crossing the track.
VOLT/DIV : 1 V (with the 10: 1 probe in use)
TIME/DIV : 2 msec
CENTER : 0 ± 0.05 V

Notes:
1. Perform adjustments in the order given.
2. Use YEDS-18 disc (Part No.: 3-702-101-01) unless otherwise
indicated.
3. Use the oscilloscope with more than 10 M
 impedance.
4. Power supply voltage requirement: DC 14.4 V
(more than 3 A)
5. In making adjustment, connect the control unit and changer
unit.
FOCUS  BIAS  ADJUSTMENT
Condition: This adjustment is performed with the set placed hori-
zontally.
Connection:
Adjustment Procedure:
1. Connect the oscilloscope to TP (RF) and TP (VC) on the
DRIVER board.
2. Put the set into play mode by loading the disc (YEDS-18).
3. Adjust the RV102 on the DRIVER board so that the waveform
on the oscilloscope (eye pattern) is good.
A good eye pattern means that the diamond shape (≈) in the
center of the oscilloscope can be clearly distinguished.
