UPDATE  OF  SOFTWARE  OF  IC2501  ON  THE  CON-
TROL  BOARD,  IC3610  ON  THE  D-VIDEO BOARD,  
IC5208  ON  THE  DSP  BOARD,  IC105  AND  IC763  ON  
THE  DISPLAY  BOARD
Perform operation of the following when the update of software 
of the IC2501 on the CONTROL board, IC3610 on the D-VIDEO 
board, IC5208 on the DSP board, IC105 and IC763 on  the DIS-
PLAY board are necessary.
Connect:
for PC
J1499
Procedure:
1.  Connect J1499 on the MAIN board and PC by using the RS-
232C cable.
2.  Turn on the main power.
3.  The update is executed by using PC.
4.  When the update ends, turn off the main power.
5.  Remove the RS-232C cable from the J1499 on the MAIN 
board and PC.
Before using the receiver for the first time, 
initialize the receiver by performing the 
following procedure. This procedure can also 
be used to return settings you have made to 
their factory defaults.

Press 
?/1 to turn off the 
receiver.

While holding down the TONE 
MODE and HDMI IN, press 
?/1 
to turn on the receiver.
3
Release the TONE MODE and 
HDMI IN after a few seconds.
After “MEMORY CLEARING...” 
appears on the display for a while, 
“MEMORY CLEARED.” appears.
All the settings you have changed or 
adjusted are reset to the initial settings.
Note
It takes about 30 seconds for the memory to be 
cleared completely. Do not turn the receiver off until 
“MEMORY CLEARED.” appears on the display.

TONE MODE
HDMI IN
If there is a malfunction, the display shows a 
code of two numbers and a message. You can 
check the status of the system by the message. 
See the following table to solve the problem. If 
any problem persists, consult your nearest 
Sony dealer.
PROTECTOR
The upper panel of the receiver is covered 
with something. The receiver will 
automatically turn off after a few seconds. 
Remove the object covering the upper panel 
of the receiver and turn on the power again.
SPEAKER SHORTED
Irregular current is output to the speakers 
due to a short circuit on the speaker 
terminals. The receiver will automatically 
turn off after a few seconds. Check the 
connection of the speakers and turn on the 
power again.
Error messages
CONFIRMATION  OF  NETWORK  OPERATION
Note: When this confi rmation is executed, IP address is changed.
Necessary machinery and materials:
•  PC (Windows XP/Vista)
• Router
 
(Transmission rate is 100 Mbps or more, built-in DHCP server 
function)
•  Two LAN cables
 
(Category 5 cable, normal type or shield type)
• Monitor
•  Multifunction remote commander
 
(RM-AAL021 or RM-AAL022)

(The router need not be connected with the internet)

Procedure:
1.  The setting of LAN of PC is setting to the automatic IP address 
assignment. 
 
It changes to the setting that displays the image in the monitor.
2.  The above-mentioned connection is done. 
3.  The power supply of the router is turn on, next, the power sup-
ply of PC and the set is turn on.
4.  Press the [GUI MODE] button of the remote commander, the 
GUI screen is displayed in the monitor.
5.  The “Settings” is selected on the GUI screen. 
 
Next, “Network Setup” in “Network” is selected, and press the 
[ ] button of remote commander.
6.  When the network setting is a unsetting, “Next” is selected on 
the screen of “Start Network function initial Setup Wizard”, 
and press the [ ] button of remote commander.
 
When it has already been set, “Internet Setup” is selected on 
the screen of “Select Setup item”, and press the [ ] button of 
remote commander. 
7.  “Connect Automatically (DHCP)” is selected on the screen of 
“Confi gures network settings automatically or manually”, and 
press the [ ] button of remote commander.
8.  The automatically connect function operates, it becomes the 
screen of “Success!” tens of seconds later, the confi rmation 
ends when “Finish” is selected.
NOTE  OF  REPLACING  THE  NETWORK  BOARD
When the NETWORK board is exchanged, the MAC address has 
been changed.
Please print and cut out the following explanations, and return it 
with the set that completes the repair.
MAC address of this receiver has been changed by this repair. 
The customer who uses the MAC address fi ltering function of 
connected access point equipment please set it again. MAC ad-
dress is possible to confi rm it on the network setting screen of ES 
utility of an attachment application.
