Note:
Incorrect operations may be performed if the test mode ia not en-
tered properly. In this case, press the  ?/1  button to turn the power
off, and retry to enter the test mode.
[Key Test  Mode]
Procedure:
1.
Press the  ?/1  button to turn the power on.
2.
To enter the key test mode, press the 
[DISPLAY]
 button, the
[SOUND FIELD +]
 button and 
[DVD          ]
 stick simultaneously.
In the key check mode, the fluorecent indicator displays
“KEY00 VOL0”. Each time a button is pressed, “KEY00” value
increases. However, once a button is pressed, it is no longer
taken into account. When all keys are pressed correctly,
“KEY15 VOL0” is displayed. “VOL  “ value increases like 1,
2, 3 ... if rotating the 
[VOLUME]
 knob clockwise, or it decreases
like 0, 9, 8, ... if rotating counter-clockwise.
3.
To exit from this mode, press the 
[DISPLAY]
 button, the
[SOUND FIELD +]
 button and the 
[DVD          ]
 stick simultaneously.
[Version Display Mode]
Procedure:
1.
Press the  ?/1  button to turn the power on.
2.
To enter the version display mode, press the  
[SPEAKER OUT
MODE]
 button, the  
[SOUND FIELD -]
 button and the 
[TUNER
+]
  stick simultaneously. The model name and destination are
displayed.
3.
Each time the 
[DISPLAY]
 button is pressed, STR, DVD or the
model name/destination is displayed in order.
4.
To exit from this mode, press the  ?/1  button.
[Fluorescent Indicator Tube Test Mode]
Procedure:
1.
Press the  ?/1  button to turn the power on.
2.
Press the 
[DISPLAY]
 button, the  
[SOUND FIELD +]
 button
and the 
[TUNER -]
 stick simultaneously.
3.
All segments are turned on.
4.
When the 
[DISPLAY]
 button is pressed, all segments are turned
off.
5.
When the 
[DISPLAY]
 button is pressed, the display will light
up as follows.
6.
When the 
[DISPLAY]
 button is pressed, the display will light
up as follows.
7.
When the 
[DISPLAY]
 button is pressed, all segments are turned
on again.
8.
To exit from this mode, press the  ?/1  button.
SECTION  4
TEST  MODE
[Cold Reset]
* The cold reset clears preset data without DVD to initial conditions.
Execute this mode when returning the set to the customer.
Procedure:
1.
Press the  ?/1  button to turn the power on.
2.
Press the  
[SPEAKER OUT MODE]
 button, the 
[SOUND FIELD +]
button and the 
[DVD   ]
 stick simultaneously.
3.
After this operation the preset data is reset. The fluorescent
indicator tube displays the messages “See you! “ and “COLD
RESET”, and the set is turned off.
[Reset DVD Setup (Using the monitor screen)]
Procedure:
1.
Press the 
[DVD SETUP]
 button on the remote commander.
2.
Select “RESET” with the  v    or   V    button on the remote
commander,  press the 
[ENTER]
 button.
3.
Select “YES” with the  v    or   V    button on the remote
commander,  press the 
[ENTER]
 button. It takes several seconds
to complete reset. Do not switch off the power during reset
operation.
[Repeat 5 Times Limit Release Mode]
Procedure:
1.
Press the  ?/1  button to turn the power on.
2.
Press the 
[DISPLAY]
 button, the 
[SOUND FIELD +]
 button
and the 
[TUNER +]
 stick simultaneously.
3.
To exit from this mode, press the  ?/1  button.
[Disc Slot Lock]
The disc slot lock function for the antitheft of an demonstration
disc in the store is equipped.
Setting Procedure :
1.
Press the  ?/1  button to turn the set on.
2.
Press the 
[FUNCTION]
 button to set DVD function.
3.
Insert a disc.
4.
Press the 
[DVD     ]
 stick and the 
[     DVD]
 button simultaneously
for five seconds.
5.
The message “LOCKED” is displayed and the slot is locked.
Releasing Procedure :
1.
Press the 
[DVD     ]
 stick and the 
[     DVD]
 button simultaneously
for five seconds again.
2.
The message “UNLOCKED” is displayed and the slot is
unlocked.
Note:
When “LOCKED” is displayed, the slot lock is not released by
turning power on/off with the  ?/1  button.

 DVD SECTION
[GENERAL  DESCRIPTION]
The Test Mode allows you to make diagnosis and adjustment easily
using the remote commander and monitor TV. The instructions,
diagnostic results, etc. are given on the on-screen display (OSD).
[TEST DISC LIST]
Use the following test disc on test mode.
TDV-520CSO (DVD-SL):
PART No. J-2501-236-A
LUV-P01 (CD):
PART No. 4-999-032-01
TDV-540C (DVD-DL):
PART No. J-2501-235-A
Note:
Do not use exiting test disc for DVD.
[STARTING  TEST  MODE]
1.
Press the  
+/1
  button to turn the power on, and set the function
to DVD.
2.
While pressing the 
[DVD    ]
 stick and 
[    DVD]
 button, turn
the 
[VOLUME]
 knob clockwise to enter the test mode.
3.
It displays “SERVICE IN”  on the fluorescent indicator tube,
and displays the Test Mode Menu on the monitor screen as
follows. (At the bottom of the menu screen, the model name
and revision number are displayed)

number on the remote commander. (RM-SD9)

[OPERATING  TEST  MODE]
0.
SYSCON  DIAGNOSIS
The same contents as board detail check by serial interface can be
checked from the remote commander operation.
On the Test Mode Menu screen, press 
[10/0]
  key on the remote
commander, and the following Check Menu will be displayed.

0-0.  Quit
Quit the Syscon Diagnosis and return to the Test Mode Menu.
0-1.  All (All items continuous check)
This menu checks all diagnostic items continuously. Normally, all
items are checked successively one after another automatically
unless an error is found, but at a certain item that requires judgment
through a visual check to the result, the following screen is displayed
for the key entry.

Press PREV Key to Repeat
For the ROM Check, the check sum calculated by the Syscon is
output, and therefore you must compare it with the specified value
for confirmation.
Following the message, press the 
[     ]
 button to go to the next
item, or press the 
[      ]
 button to repeat the same operation again.
To quit the diagnosis and return to Check Menu screen, press the
[RETURN     ]
 key on the remote commander to display Check
Menu.
General Description of Checking Method
Selecting 2 and subsequent items calls the submenu screen of each
item. And selecting 2 and subsequent items executes respective
menus and outputs the results.
For the contents of each submenu, see “Check Items List” as below.
