ADVANCED OPERATION
BASIC EDITING
ASSEMBLE EDITING
To cut out unwanted scenes while using the procedure on the previous page press the
PAUSE button on the recording VCR at the start of the unwanted section and again at the
end to resume recording.
INSERT EDIT
1. Switch on the TV and select the video channel.
2. Press INPUT SELECT on the remote control to select the video/audio input, L2 or L3 will
be displayed on the VCR.
3. Load the source tape into the playback VCR or camcorder ensuring that the record
protection tab has been removed. Search the source tape on the playback VCR or
camcorder for the playback start position and select pause.
4. Load the tape to be recorded into your VCR, ensure the record protection tab is in place
and that the HiFi Rec Level Control is in its central position.
Search the tape to be recorded for the end of the scene to be replaced and select pause.
5. Press COUNTER RESET .
6. Rewind the tape to the start of the section to be replaced and press PAUSE.
7. Press the INSERT button.
8. To start editing press PAUSE on the recording VCR and PLAY on the playback VCR 
simultaneously. When the tape counter reaches 0:00.00 the recording VCR will pause
automatically. Press stop on the playback VCR.
NOTE:
Ensure auto or manual tracking has been completed on the playback VCR before 
commencing editing.

NOTE:
To use the AUDIO and VIDEO INSERT buttons the VCR must be in playback pause mode.
Ensure AUTO or MANUAL tracking has been completed on the playback  VCR before 
commencing editing.

1. Connect the audio source to the AUDIO IN
L-R terminals on the front of the VCR as
shown above, (A scart connection to L2 can
also be used).
2. Insert the pre-recorded tape into the VCR.
3. Press PLAY/X2 (
) to view the recording.
4. If you wish to listen to the original Hi-Fi track
while you are recording the new inserted
audio track you will need to set AUDIO MIX
to ON in the MODE menu.
5. Press PAUSE/STILL (
) when you reach 
the point on the tape where you want audio
insert to start.
6. Press AUDIO INSERT (A.INSERT will be
shown on your TV and on the VCR display.) 
7. Press PAUSE/STILL (
) to start audio
insert.
8. Press STOP (
) to finish audio 
insert(A.INSERT will disappear from your
TV and on the VCR display)

RECORDING SOUND ON TO A VIDEO TAPE
This feature enables you to add narration or background music to a pre-recorded tape. 
The audio signal will be recorded on the mono track. The Hi-Fi track will remain
unchanged.

NOTES:
Do not start audio insert until AUTO or MANUAL tracking has been completed as the
signal may not be recorded correctly. 
Because the audio signal is recorded onto the mono track any previous recording on
this track will be erased.
If AUDIO MIX in the mode menu is set to OFF, no sound will be heard during audio 
insert.

If you want to listen to the original and the new inserted audio signal simultaneously, you
will need to set AUDIO MIX to ON.
You can change the audio output by pressing the AUDIO OUT button on the remote
control. Refer to the table below.

Using the LANC connection as illustrated below it will enable you to control the playback
VCR from the recording VCR allowing you to start and stop both units at the same time.

EDITING WITH A LANC CABLE CONNECTION
NOTE:
LANC MODE
This setting determines which VCR controls the other. The recording VCR should be set to M
and the playback VCR set to S.
JOG MODE
This selection is made depending on whether the playback VCR has a JOG SHUTTLE
function or not.
ON if the playback VCR has a JOG SHUTTLE function.
OFF if the playback VCR does not have a JOG SHUTTLE function.
To protect the tape from unnecessary wear the VCR will readjust the tape position if the
Frame Advance/Reverse feature is used repeatedly.
EDIT MODE SELECTION
Press MENU to display the main menu on the screen. The main menu has FIVE options
including EDIT MODE.
To access the edit mode menu highlight EDIT MODE using the [
buttons, then press
SET.
Highlight the options to be changed using the [
buttons. Press [
to select
M/S or ON/OFF as appropriate, press SET then MENU to return to the normal screen.
