2.  Installing the USB-RS232C Virtual Driver to the PC

2-1.  Setting up the projector

(1)  Turn on the projector and wait until the start-up is finished. If the auto search is

running, stop it by inputting a signal or pressing the INPUT key.

(2)  Press the buttons in order of below to call up the process mode. (within 5

seconds)
AV MUTE, AV MUTE, ▲, ▼, ENTER, ENTER, MENU
If you failed to call the process mode (the menu will appear), press the MENU
button to close the menu and then try again to call the process mode after
waiting for about five seconds.

(3)  Select “SPECIAL” and press the ENTER button.
(4)  Select “USB-MODE” and press the 

! button to change the value to 1 from 0.

(5)  Press the POWER button to turn the power off and then wait until the projector

is cooled down.

(5)  Disconnect the Power cord.

2-2.  Installing the USB-RS232C Virtual Driver to the PC

This driver works for only Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition.
And stop Screen saver and power-saving function of PC.
(1) Run “usbdriver.EXE”.

The necessary driver files will be automatically copied into the
“c:\TEMP\USBRSDriver” folder and the “HidComInst.exe” will be also executed
in that folder.

(2)  Turn on the projector and wait until the start-up is finished.
(3)  Connect the USB cable.
(4)  The “New Hardware Found” dialog box appears. If “The ccport.sys on Cypress

HIDCOM
Installation Disk can not be found” message appear, click “Browse…” and
select “c:\temp\USBRSDriver” and then click ‘OK’.

2-3.  Checking the installation of driver

(1)  Click the Windows “Start” button and select “Setting” and then “Control Panel”.
(2)  Double click “System”.
(3)  Select the “Device Manager” tab, and then click the [+] button in the

“Ports(COM & LPT)”.

(4)  Check that the “Cypress USB-> COM device” and “Cypress Virtual Port” are

displayed.

2-4. Confirming the COM port assigned

(1)  Start the Tera Term Pro from “Start” button. Select “Programs” and then “Tera

Term pro”.
Note: It is not necessary to change the default communication settings on the
Tera Term Pro. If it is set the different settings, restore it to the default
communication settings. To check the communication settings, select the “Set-
up” from the menu and then select “Serial port”.
Default communication settings:

Baud rate

9600

Data

8 bit

Parity

none

Stop

1 bit

(2)  If the “Tera Term: New connection” dialog box appear, select “Serial” and

select “COM1” in “Port” list, and then click “OK”.

If the “Tera Term:Error” dialog box appear, click ”OK” and then proceed in the
next step.

(3)  From the menu, select the “Control” and then “Macro”.

(4)  The “Macro Open macro” dialog box will appear. Select “comsearch.ttl” in the

“c:\PROGRAM\FILES\TTERMPRO” folder, and then click “Open”’.

(5)  Wait until the COM port is searched. The progress condition will be displayed

during searching.

(6)  When the COM port is detected, the COM port number appears. Write down

this COM port number and then Click “OK” to close.

If COM Port number is over 16, Stop MACRO and Tera Term Pro.
Then disconnect the USB cable, and restart PC.
Connect the USB cable again, and then take the steps again 2-4(1)

3.  Updating the firmware for M20X

3-1. Preparations

(1)  Turn on the projector and wait until the start-up is finished. If the auto search is

running, stop it by inputting a signal or pressing the INPUT key.

(2)  To call the process mode, press the buttons in order of below. (within 5

seconds) AV MUTE, AV MUTE, ▲, ▼, ENTER, ENTER, MENU
If you failed to call the process mode (the menu will appear), press the MENU
button to close the menu, and then try again to call the process mode after
waiting for about five seconds.

(3)  The process menu appears on the screen. Check the firmware version.

If the program version is 

“M20X020325”

 or 

“M20X020402”

 or 

“M20X020425”

 or

“M20X020611”

 or 

“M20X020614”

, then this unit is 

“AA” version

. Please use

“fwp_m20x_old.ttl”

 in the section 3-2(12). And the additional step is required in

the paragraph 

4(4-1(6)).

If unit’s version is not the above version, please use 

“fwp_m20x_new.ttl”

 in the

section 3-3(3).
Note: Be sure to write down the current program version.

(4) Select “SPECIAL” from the process menu and press ENTER button.
