For AR-C150 & 250 models, changes have been made to improve toner correction
during the life of the developer (prevents over toning etc).
during the life of the developer (prevents over toning etc).
For AR-C150 and AR-C250 Only:
Before upgrading the firmware, make sure all optics are cleaned and the white
reference plate is installed correctly. (Refer to ARC150 S/M 11-22).
To maximize the output quality and reduce background levels due to machine over
toning, it is recommended to upgrade the firmware when the developer is replaced
(eg – next PM). It is also possible to upgrade the firmware without replacing the
developer – please refer to the following procedure:-

•
Install the upgraded firmware. Confirm upgrade by using Sim. 22-05.
(Toner density will not change immediately).
•
Replace the developer.
Ensure the Developer has been acclimatized before installation.
•
Cycle the developer twice using Test Sim.25-01.
•
Set the toner density using Test Sim.25-02.
•
Restart the copier.
•
When the copier is at a “Ready to copy” state, execute Test Sim 44-42
(This simulation only needs to be run once to program the new toner correction
look up table).
•
Recalibrate the engine using Test Sim 46-24.

If you are performing upgrade without installing new DV
•
Install the upgraded firmware. Confirm upgrade by using Sim. 22-05.
(Toner density will not change immediately).
•
Use Test Sim.64-01 (Pattern13,Density 255, Multi Count 20 CMYK) to
reduce
toner
concentration.
•
Power cycle the copier and execute Test Sim 44-06.
•
Re-calibrate the engine using Test Sim 46-24.
Procedure:
Before carrying out any calibration, ensure the following adjustments have
been checked (especially when either drums or developer have been replaced)

Select Print Mode A = 1 and Paper E = 5 if A3 paper is available from CAS4.
Press “EXECUTE” to output 8 numbered test patterns. Choose the pattern number
with the least deflection for Cyan, Magenta & Yellow, and enter the pattern number
values into locations “B”, “C” & “D”.
[Refer to AR-C150 S/M 7-8]
Colour Registration (Main & Sub Scan
Execute Test Simulation 50-22 Auto Registration adjustment or Test Simulation(s)
50-20 (Main scan) & 50-21 (Sub scan) for manual adjustment of colour registration.
Test Simulation 50-22
Press “EXECUTE”. to output a check pattern. Check that the greatest density
of Cyan and Magenta in MSF/MSR (check pattern 1) is within 1 step of the
black triangle.
Also, check that the print lines of Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow align with the
black print lines in check patterns MSF/MSR/SS check pattern 2.

If acceptable and within specification, exit Test Simulation 50-22.
If out of specification, place the check pattern on the platen glass with the
arrow pointing left, placing 5 sheets of blank paper on top.
Press “EXECUTE”.
The pattern will be scanned, and the display will show a result of “EXACT”,
“ROUGH”, or “ERROR”. Exit the simulation by using C/A.
“Recheck and “Fine Tune” the Registration by using Test Simulation 50-20
(Main scan) and 50-21 (Sub scan).
Copy Exposure
Test Simulation 46-01 & 46-02
Prior to adjusting colour balance, adjust all Colour and B/W exposure settings
back to the default value of 50 :-
Half Tone Correction
Test Simulation 44-27
Ensure Half Tone Correction is reset back to default ONLY when either Drum(s) or
Developer are replaced.

Select A3 paper and press “EXECUTE” to print a half tone test pattern (This
should be printed on recommended colour paper). Place this pattern onto the
platen glass so that the darkest density patches are toward the left or exit side of
the copier. Place 5 sheets of blank paper on top of the test pattern for greater
accuracy.
