1.
LOYLOG=C:\USR\DATA\LOG - This setting is as current. It should be noted
that the file location has changed to allow better functionality. Every POS on
the system must have this setting identical. When Loyalty Transactions are
made a Loyalty LOG file is created locally at every machine, when an End of
Day is done the files are consolidated and exported to a Back Office PC via
the End of Day process export. If this variable is set to export directly to a
BackOffice PC the file name convention has changed to show the POS No in
the file name. This setting should NOT be set if using Real Time Loyalty
2.
LOYLOG=G:\LOYLOG - This setting directs Loyalty data to a Back Office PC in
Real Time, and must NOT be set at the same time as 1., This setting exports
Loyalty LOG data directly at the time of finalisation and is for updating the
Database at the Back Office.
3.
LOYREQ=G:\LOYREQ - This setting also for Real Time operation sets the path
where information from the Back Office can be found This information
contains Card Details such as Card Name Points & Redemption Value.
4.
LOYALTY=IBS - This setting selects Real Time Loyalty
5.
LOYTMO=10 - This setting allows the setting of the time out period allowed
for a Back Office Response. It is measured in Seconds. The default setting of
10 means if NO response is received from the Back Office within 10 secs the
POS will show a timeout.
6.
LOYTMR - This setting should not be set. It is reserved for future
development.
Operation
The operation of the system is similar to the existing system, with added
functionality.
1.
If a transaction is made at Subtotal the POS prompts for Loyalty, if the Card is
then swiped the data at finalisation will be sent to the Back Office or (Local
file if not Real Time).
2.
If Payment Method 14 is set it allows Loyalty Redemption, the transaction can
be made and then the “Loyalty Redemption selected in payment. The POS
prompts for the card to be swiped and the display will show the Total Points,
Redemption Value, Name and Card Details, and prompt the user to make a
Full or Partial Payment using the available value on the Card. The transaction
can be split between Loyalty and any other method of payment. On
finalisation the Card Details are sent back to the Back Office allowing updated
data to be imported
42
3.
Using the New Function “Loyalty Check” it is possible at anytime during a
transaction to check card details, this operation will also allow printing of the
Card Details.
Card Types
Any Card can be used on the loyalty system, if a more secure environment is
required the file C:\USR\DATA\LOYALTY.DAT can be edited. Extreme care should be
taken not to change the contents of this file but only the values. The file size and
structure should never be altered. The file contains settings of Start Card Number &
End Card Number as follows :-
2,1,1000,0000000000000000000,9999999999999999999
, Start Card No     ,End Card No
Demonstration Software
In view of difficulties in the setting up of demonstration systems SHARP have
created a “Loyalty Emulator” which is available Free of Charge. The software allows
the system to be demonstrated. It should be noted that values redeemed are NOT
updated. Cards Numbers included in the Emulator are :-
Card No 1 Check Digit 8
18,0,500012,12345
 Bill Smith
 Thank you
Card No 2 Check Digit 6
26,0,500012,2345
 Andy Sedwell
 Thank you
Card No 14 Check Digit 1
141,0,500012,19999
 Paul Burton
 Test System Card
 Thank you
These can be changed by editing the LOYCARDS.TXT File in the installed directory.
When the software is run it is necessary to select “Start” from the main screen , this
will allow transactions from the POS to be monitored aswell as redemption
information.

31. Multi Lingual Support
A new Multi Lingual function has been added to the POS Software. This functionality
allows the printing at Dispense Printers ONLY of a secondary language including
Chinese. If the function to be used uses the standard English alphabet characters
any dealer can program the feature, however if Chinese is the preferred language an
external agency will be required to carry out a Menu Conversion of the site. When
the item is printed on the dispense printer it prints the normal text with the foreign
language underneath.
Programming
In order to realise this function 2 new files have been created along with settings in
S2001.INI
1.
The two new files that are required are :-
A) PRDLANG.CSV - This file contains either the French, German translations or
the reference point to the LANG.CSV for Chinese Printing
If using English Alphabet languages the format is :-
PLU Number,KP Text
If Using Non English Alphabet Characters the format is :-
PLU Number,n,v,x, where n v x are references in the LANG.CSV for Chinese
etc
B) LANG.CSV - This file contains the special Bit Maps that are sent to the
printer to allow non English alphabet characters to be printed.
