Technical Report
1.  Model Name
UP-5900 & UP-5350 running Windows 98 SE. (Windows NT4 and
Windows 2000 are not affected).
2.  General
The following countermeasure is to allow the pound symbol (£) to
function within File Maintenance on UP5900 & UP-5350 running
Venta Software on Windows 98 SE in the field. (Windows NT4 and
Windows 2000 are not affected).
3.  Phenomenon
When the UP-5900 & UP-5350 with Windows 98 SE is supplied
direct from Sharp Electronics (UK) Ltd, the pound symbol (£) does
not function within a DOS window thus not allowing the operator
to enter a pound symbol (£) in Venta File Maintenance.
4.  Remedy
Amend the Autoexec.bat to include the following line.
This amendment should be made prior to installation of Venta
Software on the UP-5900 & UP-5350 and prior to on-site
installation.
Autoexec.bat can be found in the route of C:
keyb uk,,c:\windows\COMMAND\keyboard.sys
