Q. How do I take a back up copy of the UP3300 and then if
necessary down load back to the UP3300 and how long does this
take.
A.  Sharp provide a free of charge utility called com33v this is
used to upload or down load all data or specific areas of data. To
take a complete back up of the UP3300 with option memory board
will take approximately 12 minuets at a speed of 38400 B’s.
Q. I have a UP3300 with a Printer that is used for producing
receipts and on occasions producing a print out for the KP. The
problem is that the Logo is not always printed on the Customers
Receipt.
A. There is a new setting for the Receipt Printer (Device Config)
which will allow the Logo to be pre-printed (as on previous models)
or to print the Logo at each issue.
In the above case where the printer is producing both Receipts
and KP information the Receipt should be set to print Logo at each
issue.
Q. What is the difference between the FINAL key and the NEW
BALANCE.
A. The entry and operational method is the same for both features
however the FINAL will calculate the Tax, the NEW BALANCE
does not. The FINAL key does NOT finalise the transaction. When
you use the FINAL key in place of the NEW BALANCE you will
notice a large bold print indicating the Total amount.
Q. The Slave Machines are sending items to the Kitchen Printer
even though it has not been configured to send to the KP.
A. This situation is usually caused by the Slave Machine having
been set up with IC files while a KP has been assigned, the effect
of this would be to create a KP buffer file. If this file is created and
depending on the system configuration there may be an output to
KP. To prevent any printing from a specific Slave delete the KP
buffer File.
Q. How do I set up the UP3300 for Electronic Journal?
A. From Master Reset the file is created for 3000 lines of print
memory (Group 86). You then need to set up your Journal Printer
(Device Config) the Printer name you select must be EJ FILE.
You should now be able to produce an Electronic Journal report.
Q. Is it possible to use Mag Cards to sign on and operate as
clerks.
A. Yes it is, by using the Employee function you can assign a 10-
digit employee number to a clerk.
Select Employee from the Personnel Menu then enter the code or
swipe the card then assign the clerk required.
The only other programming that is required from Master Reset is
to change job code 910-D to 4 (clerk code entry). The option Mag
Card reader that is required is model UPE12MR2.

TECHNICAL QUESTIONS
Q. Is it possible to have some kind of control on the MANAGER
SCREEN key?
A.  The answer is to create an AUTO KEY, which would be
REFUND, MANAGER SCREEN, CLEAR. (This would take the
place of the existing MANAGER SCREEN KEY)
Make the REFUND or RETURN KEY limited (only for MANAGER)
Allocate a MGR # key to main screen
Finally create a MANAGER with a secret password.
The operation would then be to enter MGR CODE then enter
SECRET CODE you could then press the auto key
To return back to REG MODE the operator would then press the
MGR # KEY.
Q. Can there be a MASTER/BACKUP MASTER on two till system.
A. Yes it works fine.
Q. Is it possible for PLUs to be sent to the Kitchen Printer from
one machine in a network but not from another.
For Example the MASTER MACHINE wants PLU 1 & 2 to go to
KP1 and KP2
However the SLAVE MACHINE wants PLU1 to go to KP1 but PLU
2 not to print from this machine.
(When All Presets are downloaded to each machine in the network
the SLAVE Machine’s PLUs will be set to sends to both KPs.
As the Slave Machine does not have KP2 assigned in the above
example the PLUs will be printed on the Receipt Printer.
A. There is a solution if you have a spare RS CHANNEL.
In the above example you set up KP 2 from the Slave to go to an
unused channel, then on that channel fit a 9-pin connector with
pins 4 and 6 shorted together.
Q.

The UP3300 is locked in Mode screen or PGM Mode
(The Clerk becomes locked in the program mode and the user can
not get back to the trading screen.)
A. (INDIVIDUAL CLERK WITH OVERLAP set up)
When a UP3300 is set as IRC on an Individual Clerk system and a
Clerk is in Overlap condition, the Clerk will be allowed into
program mode but not allowed out again.
Remove the key or press the code again to sign off.
You can now go back to the main trading screen.
Make sure all clerks are finalized then operation will be as normal.
A. (CENTRALIZED CLERK WITH OVERLAP set up)
The Clerk is allowed entry to Program Mode and then into
Settings, but the Clerk can not return back to the main trading
screen. Pressing the Cancel Key does not allow a complete return
and will result in an Entry Error message.
The problem arises on a Centralized Clerk System when a Clerk is
open on another Slave.
Go to the slave machine and make sure all Clerks are signed off
or Finalized then the operation will be as normal.
Q.  How does the auto generate next highest GLU code work on
the UP3300?
A. The Auto Generate code works on both the standard GLU files
and DRIVE THRU files.
However if you want the UP3300 to generate the next highest
code after finalizing a GLU you would have to use the DRIVER
THRU files.
You will also require a file for Auto Generate codes. (This is
created as standard).
You then have to allocate the NC2 key, this will come up with CAR
# as default text but you can change this, also if you want to
layaway a DRIVE THRU code you will have to allocate the PBAL 2
key so you can recall it.
