20. Slow Transaction 
Q. The UP600/700 is slow to start the next transaction, as in the previous slide, 

the machine is set for IRC and MWS, but the PC is not set to poll.  

A. As explained in the previously there is a T Log Polling issue here. 
If your PC is not set to Poll then the solution to the delay is to set the “TIME 

OUT” under the MWS setting to 1 second. 

 
21. Disabling a KP 
Q. Is it possible to make an Auto key that would disable KP output in the event 

the KP went faulty, this could then be used by the customer. 

A. Yes, because the printer assignment is under PGM Mode this can be achieved. 

22. Buffer Full 
Q. The machine only allows up to 48 items to be entered then comes up with 
“Buffer Full” error my customer needs more than this for their GLU system. 

A. No problem. The size of the Reg Buffer on the UP600/700 is defaulted to 48 
items but can be increased to 9999 depending on your memory.  

Q. My customer wants to give an item discount and on the receipt show the PLU 
item price followed by the Discount followed by the new PLU Discounted item 
Price. 

A. In this case the solution was to set up an Auto key which was Item discount 
followed by Differ Subtotal. 
 

24. £ Symbol on Print out 
Q. Is it possible to have the £ symbol printed before all amounts on receipts and 
reports.  

A. Use Currency Text in Service mode.  Use the Shift key to change from ! to £. 

 
25. Decimal Point 
Q. The decimal point has moved on the display. All the amounts displayed now 

appear incorrect. 

A. This is usually the result of accidentally allocating the 1/2 pence key to the 
keyboard. This key should no longer be used. 

 

26. Paid Outs 
Q. On my UP600 there are no details of the Refunds or PO or RA etc. 

A. This was because the setting in REPORT FORMAT was set to for 

TRANSACTIONS RST FAQ.  
 

27. Automatic sign off 
Q. How I require the Clerk to automatically be signed off at the end of each 

transaction (909-D) but then immediately produce after transaction receipt after 
sign off. 

A. This feature is available on Version G ROM of the UP600/700.  

 
28. Weighted items 
Q. How do I set up the UP600/700 to scan weighted items bar codes.  

A. There are two setting areas in PGM 

EAN NON PLU here you set up field size for PLU Code, as well as either the 
Weight (Quantity) or Price (depending on the bar code) 
You then create the PLU but enter as e.g. 0212340000000 where 02 is the 

system code, 1234 is the PLU code 7 zero‟s are entered to complete the 13 digit 
entry. 
PS you may need to change TAB in NON EAN PLU depending on barcode.  

 

29. Bill Printing 
Q. Is it possible to have a key for itemised Bill printing?  

A. The GC Receipt key operates differently on this machine to others. 

However you could create an Auto key: 
Misc.. Func/2/Enter/subtotal.  
This will display all open tables ready to print select one from here to print. 

 

30. Quantity on KP 
Q. Is it Possible to remove the 1 X print on the Kitchen Printer.  

A. Yes, In PGM 2 there is a OPTION setting from here select Printing Select then 
change QTY 1 Print on KP to NO. 
It is not possible to remove the 1 x text on the operator display.  
 

31. Cable length 
Q. What is the maximum distance the kitchen printers could run from on the 
RS232 ports? 

A. Under tests we have had cable runs of 70 metres, but you should use twisted 
pair cable to achieve this. 
 

32. Condiments 
Q. The cancel key is pressed after Condiment Items have been entered and now 
all the items are not printed.  

A. This is because the Condiment printing is set according to each PLU, please 

change line 981-B =4.  
 

Q. After selecting a Condiment PLU, the list appears on the screen, but the 
operator presses ST or NBAL without selecting an item from the list. 

We want to make a selection from this list compulsory.  

A. Go to PGM and select the PLU and make it CONDIMENT ENTRY COMPULSORY.  

 

34. Graphical Logo 
Q. How would I download a Graphic Logo to be printed on the UP-600 or UP-700.  

A. You would use the Graphic Logo Utility which is provided by Sharp and can be 
found on our WEB Site, together with full instructions on cable requirements and 
usage.  
 

35. Graphical Logo 
Q. How do I get the graphic logo printed on both the footer and header?  

A. It is straight forward to get the graphic on the header simply by selecting job 

912-D, to get the graphic on the footer go into device config from here you can 
select footer image print.  
 

36. Multi Ticket issue 
Q. Can we have multi ticket issue on the UP-600 or UP-700?  

A. Yes, from MRS You will need to set job 915-D to a 4, then you would program 
the required item to go to KP the KP would then be set as receipt type S/D.  

 

37. KP Suppression 
Q. I want PLU‟s to be printed at KP when entered at one machine but not printed 

when entered from another.  

A. A problem arises because the PLU will have a KP assigned to them which ever 
machine they are in. On the UP-600/700 you have a new Job at 981-C. 

Set the Receipt not to print if KP is set to 0. 
 

38. Clerk name on receipt 
Q. How do I get the Clerks name to appear on the footer receipt message?  

A. By using the = symbol in the message.The = symbol represents one character 
of the clerks name.  
 

39. Cumulated receipt print 
Q. Is it possible to have individual lines of print (Non Cumulating) for multiple 
item entry on the receipt.  

A. Yes, If the line 920-A is changed to a 4 (As in UP3300 manual) this will 
activate this feature. 
 

Q. Can the GLU code be printed on the Intermediate Bill?  

A. Yes, Go to PGM-2 
… OPTIONAL… PRINT SELECT-1 then there is a setting for Table# on Bill Yes/No. 

 

Q. My TM-210 KP is not paper feeding enough at the end of print.  

A. If you select AUTO CUTTER in DEVICE CONFIG there will be additional line 

feeds at the end of print on the KP 

Q. Is it possible to have the total amount of the transaction printed on the KP, as 
this would be useful for CCTV connection?  

A. Yes, you will have to change the Receipt type to ADD+S for the KP, in Device 
Config. 

 
42. Clerk Code display 
Q. Can the Clerk code be displayed on the Option customer display?  

A. Yes, you will probably have to change line 922-A, as this defaults to not to 
display clerk code on customer display. (It cannot display the clerk‟s name).  

43. Opened GLU Display 
Q. I would like the operator to call up all the Open Tables to display then select 
a table.  

A. There is a feature on the UP600/700 which will allow this the Key to use this 

is the Display Open Table Key.  
Remember if line 919-B (checking of clerk at re-order) is set to yes 
only the Tables which have been opened by the clerk in use will be 

displayed.  

Q. How do I set up overlap clerks to work on my machine?  

A. There are 3 jobs that are needed to be set, they are the usual 910-A and then 
create the Overlap file, but you will also have to change job 909-D (on the 
UP700) set this for Transaction in progress. (If there are Cashier files on the 

Machine you must delete these.  
Overlap works for clerk only not cashier/clerk 
There are no system pre-sets to select cashier/clerk system. 

If the Cashier file is created the Overlap will not work. 

Q. Is it possible to have the real keys to be a different clerk number to the one 
on the key?  

A. Yes. 
In personnel programming you can assign a Key number to a clerk. 

(This means for example you could insert the real key 1 and it would operate as 
clerk 10).
