In this player, you can enjoy a variety of video on 
demand streaming content by connecting to the 
Internet.

•  Playing back YouTube video content streaming
NOTE 
•  To enjoy this function, make a broadband Internet 
connection to both your PC and this player (See pages 
18–19), and then set communication settings (See 
pages 46–49), then perform the following operation.
•  To use this function, we recommend setting “Auto 
Power Off” to “No”. (See page 43.)
•  Before using this function, please read “Network Service 
Disclaimer” (page 68).
Playing back YouTube content
This player can play back YouTube video content 
streaming through the Internet.
•  For more information about YouTube, see the YouTube 
website using a PC (http://www.youtube.com).
NOTE 
•  Some video content may not be played back with this 
player.
•  The actual functions which can be operated may differ 
from the descriptions shown.
•  It may take time to access and download the update 
depending on the Internet connection and other factors.
Playing back
Press a/b to select “e-Contents”, then press 
d or ENTER.
Press a/b to select “YouTube”, then press d 
or ENTER.
•  The YouTube screen is displayed.
Follow the instruction on the screen.
To exit the screen, press EXIT.
Operational buttons for playback control
Item
Pause the video content. To resume 
playing paused content, press 
 on 
the playback controls.
Skip to the previous video content on 
the video list.
Skip to the next video content on the 
video list.
Play back all the video content on the 
video list repeatedly.
Switch the video quality to high 
resolution.
Toggle the playback screen between 
normal and full screen.
Progress bar
Determine the point where you want to 
play back a video content by pressing 
c/d on the progress bar.

•  To turn the playback controls on during full screen 
display, press POP-UP MENU.

• This player can be controlled from a PC using the 
IP.
• Use an ETHERNET cable (commercially available) 
or wireless LAN USB adapter for the connections. 
NOTE 
•  This operation system should be used by a person who 
is accustomed to using computers.
Communication conditions for IP
Connect to the player with the following settings 
made for IP on the PC.
IP protocol:

Set the IP address on the player 
menu

Set a port number on the player 
menu 
When you set your ID and password on the player 
menu, you need to enter them as soon as you 
connect to the player.
NOTE 
•  The connection will be cut off when there has been no 
communication for 3 minutes.
IP Control Setup
Press a/b to select “Settings”, then press d or 
ENTER.
Press a/b to select “Communicatioin Setup”, 
then press 
ENTER.
Press a/b to select “IP Control Setup”, then 
press 
ENTER.
Press a/b to select “Change”, then press 
ENTER.
To use IP Control, select “Enable”, then press 
ENTER.
Set the device name.
Set your login ID and password.
Set the port to use with IP Control.
Confirm the settings, then press “OK”.
Communication procedure 
Send the control commands from the PC via the IP.
This Player operates according to the received 
command and sends a response message to the 
PC.
Do not send multiple commands at the same time. 
Wait until the PC receives the OK response before 
sending the next command.
Make sure to send “A” with the carriage return and 
confirm that “ERR” returns before operating.

Refer to the problems and lists of possible solutions below before calling for service.

The Player power cannot be turned on.
•  Is the power cord firmly plugged into the AC outlet? (Page 
20)
•  When the power cord is plugged into an AC outlet, press and hold B on the Player until “
” appears on the front 
panel display. Then, after the B (On/Standby) indicator is lit, turn on the power. (Page

•  Press B

The Player power is turned off.
•  Is “Auto Power Off” set to “Yes”? When “Auto Power Off” is set to “Yes”, the power will be automatically turned off after 
10 continuous minutes of inactivity (no playback). (Page

Playback

The Player cannot play a disc.
•  Take out the disc and clean it. (Page 
13)
•  Make sure that the disc is loaded properly (aligned in disc tray and label-side up). (Page 
25)
•  Make sure that region code on the disc matches that of this Player. (Page 
9)
•  Allow any condensation in or near the Player to dry. (Page 
13)
•  Check that the disc is recorded in the compatible TV system (PAL or NTSC).
•  The Player cannot play back video which was not recorded normally. (Page 
10)
•  Proper playback may be impossible due to the state of the disc recording, a scratched, warped or dirty disc, the state of 
the pick-up, or compatibility issues between this Player and the disc being used. (Pages 
1013)
•  When the recorded time of a disc is unusually short, playback may not be possible.
•  BD-RE/R discs recorded in a format other than BDMV/BDAV cannot be played back. (Page 
9)
The disc is automatically ejected after closing the disc 
tray.
•  Make sure that the disc is loaded properly (aligned in disc tray and label-side up). (Page
