Operation
Section II Operation
2.1 Operating mode
The operating modes of the sorter are classified as follows:
Sorting
Sort mode
Group mode
Non-sorting
Nonsort mode
(1) Sort mode
The sorter sorts copies fed from the copier into 10 bins. The sorter is initialized
at power ON and the bin holder stays at the home position (lower most position).
In the home position, the top bin (bin # 1) is ready to receive the first copy. After
the first copy is fed to the top bin, the bin holder is lifted up by one step to store
the next copy into the second bin (bin # 2). The same operation is done up to 10
copies per one original.
When the first copy of the second original is fed from the copier, the copy is
stored into the bin which received the last copy of the first original. Then the bin
holder is lifted down by one step to receive the next copy.
The above operation cycle for lifting up and down is repeated to sort copies.
The following illustrates the sorting operation for two originals.
(2) Group mode
The sorter stores all copies of each original into each bin. For example, the first
copies are stored into the top bin (bin # 1) and the second copies are stored into
the next bin (bin # 2).
