2.2.10. Solenoids Control Circuit
This machine has three solenoids: Pickup Solenoid, Registration solenoid and the Exit solenoid.
2.2.10.1. The Pickup Control Solenoid Drive Circuit
The Pickup Solenoid is used for picking up the paper from the paper tray. The CPU IC504 outputs high level
PUCTL signal from Pin41 to the transistor Q601. The transistor Q601 is turned On and supplies a current to
the Solenoid.

The Registration Solenoid is used for controlling Registration Roller rotation. The CPU IC504 outputs high

2.2.11. Sensors Circuit
The machine has four photo sensors in the Printer Drive Unit: Registration/Paper Detect Sensor, Paper
Exit/ADU Paper Jam Sensor, No Paper Sensor and Low Toner Sensor.

2.2.11.1. Registration Sensor Circuit
Registration sensor detects that the paper is in front of the Registration Roller. When the Registration

2.2.11.5. Low Toner Sensor Circuit
Low Toner Sensor detects the shortage of toner. IC504 (Engine CPU) sends the nTECTL (Pin7, IC504)
signal to Q504. When the nTECTL is low level, transistors Q504 and Q500 are turned On. and LED D517
emits light. If the toner is shorted (empty), the light from LED D517 passes through the lens of the Toner
Cartridge. When the photo transistor Q1 receives the light, the Q1 is turned On, and the TESEN (Pin4,
IC504) signal becomes Low.
