11.3.3.1. Descriptions of the History Report
(1) ROM VERSION
FLASH ROM version

(3) YOUR LOGO
The user logo recorded in the unit. If it is not recorded,
NONE will be displayed.
(4) YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER
The user telephone number recorded in the unit. If it is not
recorded, NONE will be displayed.
(5) Not used
(6) FACTORY - CUSTOMER
This shows how many days from factory production until the
user turns ON the unit.
(7) MONTH
The shows the very first month, date, year and time set by
the user after they purchased the unit.
(8) DAY
The shows the very first month, date, year and time set by
the user after they purchased the unit.
(9) YEAR
The shows the very first month, date, year and time set by
the user after they purchased the unit.
(10) TIME
The shows the very first month, date, year and time set by
the user after they purchased the unit.
(11) USAGE TIME
The amount of time the unit has been powered ON.
(12) FACTORY - NOW
This shows how many days from factory production until the
user prints out this history list.
(13) TEL MODE
The amount of time the TEL mode setting was used.

The amount of time the FAX mode setting was used.

12 Troubleshooting Guide
12.1. User Recoverable Errors
If the unit detects a problem, one or more of the following messages will appear on the display.
The explanations given in the [ ] are for servicemen only.
12.1.1. Base Unit
DISPLAY MESSAGE
CAUSE AND REMEDY
• The cordless handset you tried to call is in use.
The cordless handset you are calling is too far from the base unit.
• Polygon motor error.
Refer to Call Service 1 (P.154).
• Laser beam error. Replace LSU unit.
Refer to Call Service 2 (P.155).
• Fuser unit cannot heat up. Replace fuser unit.
Refer to Call Service 3 (P.156).
• Fan motor error. Replace fan motor.
Refer to Call Service 4 (P.157).
• Charge unit error
(An error occurred in the Charge unit including High voltage unit. (Also the Charger went wrong.))
Refer to Call Service 6 (P.158).
• There is something wrong with the drum cartridge. Replace the drum cartridge and the toner cartridge.
• The document was not fed into the unit properly. Re-insert the document. If misfeeding occurs frequently,
clean the document feeder rollers or adjust the feeder pressure and try again.
• The drum cartridge is not inserted properly. Re-insert it correctly.
• The front cover is open. Close it.
• The drum life is complete. Replace the drum cartridge immediately 
• Recording paper was not fed into the unit properly. Re-insert the recording paper.
• The unit has a document in memory. See the other displayed message instructions to print out the docu-
ment.
• The inside of the unit is extremely cold and cannot be operated. Use the unit in a warmer area. While the
unit cannot be operated, the received documents are temporarily stored into the memory, and will be
printed out automatically when the unit warms up.
• When performing memory transmission, the document being stored exceeded the memory capacity of the
unit. Send the entire document manually.
• When making a copy, the document being stored exceeds the memory capacity of the unit. Press STOP to
clear the message. Divide the document into sections.
• There is no space to store new items in phonebook. Erase unnecessary items.
• There is no room left in memory to record voice messages. Erase unnecessary messages.
• There is something wrong with the modem circuit.
• The other party's fax machine is busy or has run out of recording paper. Try again.
• Recording paper is not installed or the unit has run out of paper. Install paper.
• Recording paper is not fed into the unit properly. Re-install paper.
• A recording paper jam occurred. Clear the jammed paper.
[If the printout jams, please refer to Recording Paper Jams (P.243).]
• The unit is warming up. Wait for a while.

12.1.2. Cordless Handset
• The other party's fax machine does not offer the polling function. Check with the other party.
• The greeting message you recorded was under 1 second long. Record a longer message.
• The other party's fax machine is busy or has run out of recording paper. Try again.
• The document is jammed. Remove the jammed document.
• The document longer than 600 mm. Press the STOP to remove the document. Divide the document into
two or more sheets and try again.
• The drum life is near to an end. Replace the drum unit as soon as possible.
• The memory is full of received documents due to a lack of recording paper or a recording paper jam. Install 
paper or clear the jammed paper.
• There is something wrong with the unit. Contact our service personnel.
• The toner life is complete. Replace the toner cartridge immediately.
• The toner life is near to an end. Replace the toner cartridge as soon as possible.
• A transmission error occurred. Try again.
• The inside of the unit is cold. Let the unit warm up. Wait for a while.
• The fax message was printed on paper which is shorter than A4 size paper. Use the appropriate size
paper.
DISPLAY MESSAGE
CAUSE AND REMEDY
• Recording was too short. Try again.
• Phonebook copy failed. Confirm the destination unit is in standby mode and try again.
• The destination unit's phonebook memory is full. Erase the unnecessary phonebook items from the desti-
nation unit and try again.
• The cordless handset's phonebook memory is full. Erase unnecessary items.
• There is no room left in memory to record voice messages. Erase unnecessary messages.
• The cordless handset has lost communication with the base unit. Move closer to the base unit and try
again. 
• Unplug the base unit's power cord to reset the unit. Reconnect the power cord and try again.
• The cordless handset's registration may have been cancelled. Re-register the cordless handset. 
• A wrong type of battery such as Alkaline or Manganese was inserted. Use only the rechargeable Ni-MH
battery noted on Optional Accessories P.12. 
• You must subscribe to Caller ID service. Contact your service provider/telephone company for service
availability. Once you receive caller information, this message will not be displayed. 
• The cordless handset is not registered to the base unit. Press [LOCATOR] (
) on the base unit for about
5 seconds, then place the cordless handset on the charger. The cordless handset will be registered to the
base unit.
