5.3.
EL SETTING
EL Display Mode Switching
[ Content ]
Because the display content must be checked during service
mode execution, the EL is always ON at this menu.
[ Operating procedure ]
1. Select [ EL SETTING ] on the service mode menu and
then press the [PLAY/STOP] button, then displayed the
EL display mode switching screen.
2. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to select "ON", and then press
the [PLAY/STOP] button to execute display mode switch-
ing.
It returns to the audio mode after executes it.
NOTE:
Another SERVICE mode should be executed within 1
minute after switching is performed. If the auto power OFF
function is activated, the system returns to the "display ON/
OFF control enabled" mode.
5.4.
DEVICEKEY NO
Device Key Serial Number
Display
[ Content ]
This display is used to verify that the device key is written to the
main PCB's IC1 (SD system LSI) without error.
[ Operating procedure ]
1. Select [ DEVICEKEY NO ] on the service mode menu
and then press the [PLAY/STOP] button, then displayed
the device key serial number information.
Judgment:
If the device key serial number fails to display, there is
a problem with the IC1 (SD system LSI).
2. Open the battery cover to complete the procedure.

AD INFO
Battery Capacity Display and 
Control Button Operation 
Check
[ Content ]
Displays the rechargeable battery voltage, and the KEY IN volt-
age AD conversion values (hexadecimal) at the [FWD-Skip],
[REW-Skip], [MODE], [SELECT], [MARK], [+], [-] key opera-
tions.
The AD conversion value is used for button operation checks
and for the remaining battery capacity display.
[ Operating procedure ]
1. Select [ AD INFO ] on the service mode menu and then
press the [PLAY/STOP] button, then displayed the battery
capacity display screen.

Control Button’s AD Value
When battery capacity AD value display, press the [PLAY/
STOP] button at two times, then displayed the control button
operation check screen. 
Displays the AD value judgment for the button operation.
Press each of the [FWD-Skip], [REW-Skip], [MODE],
[SELECT], [MARK], [+], [-] buttons and verify the changes in
the AD conversion value.
Judgment:
If the AD conversion value displayed at the button operation
is outside the range shown in the table, this may indicate a
hardware malfunction.
Open the battery cover to complete the procedure.
5.6.
MODEL INFO
Model and Region Display
[ Content ]
Displays the model, region and firmware version information.
This content cannot be changed.
[ Operating procedure ]
1. Select [ MODEL INFO ] on the service mode menu and
then press the [PLAY/STOP] button, then displayed the
model and region information.
• Content of display
- 1st line: Model and firmware information.
- 2nd line: Region information.
It differs according to the region.
- The mark at the right of “REGION:xx” is the 
following information:
#.....Model and region setting in the service mode.
* .....Model and region setting in the factory setting.
2. Open the battery cover to complete the procedure.
5.7.
CARD IN/OUT
Card Recognition Operation 
Check
[ Content ]
Verifies that the SD-card (where audio file is saved) can be 
recognized.
[ Operating procedure ]
1. Select [ CARD IN/OUT ] on the service mode menu and
then press the [PLAY/STOP] button, then displayed the
card’s detection count screen.
2. Remove the service mode SD-card, then insert it again.
• The count value increases by 1 (1 card insertion) after
the microcomputer reads the default data from the SD-
card.
3. Open the battery cover to complete the procedure.

Audio Playback Check
[ Content ]
Performs repeat playbacks, checking for audio playback errors.
[ Operating procedure ]
1. Select [ AUDIO PLAY ] on the service mode menu and
then press the [PLAY/STOP] button, then displayed the
audio playback error check screen.
2. Playback begins and the repeat count (number of returns
to first song) displays on screen.
• Content of display
1st line: Test name and repeat count
2nd line: Track number and elapsed playback time
3. Repeat playbacks continue until a playback error occurs.
Therefore, if no error has occurred after approximately 10
playbacks.
4. Open the battery cover to complete the procedure.
When the error occurs:
If a playback error occurs, playback is stopped, and an error
code displays on screen.
• Content of display
1st line: Test name and error code
4th line: Track number and elapsed playback time
For error code details, refer to section 5.15 (Error Code Table).
Open the battery cover to complete the procedure.
5.9.
VOICE PLAY
Voice Playback Check
(SV-SD370V only)
[ Content ]
Performs repeat playbacks, checking for voice playback errors.
[ Operating procedure ]
1. Select [ VOICE PLAY ] on the service mode menu and
then press the [PLAY/STOP] button, then displayed the
voice playback error check screen.
2. Playback begins and the repeat count (number of returns
to first voice) displays on screen.
• Content of display
1st line: Test name and repeat count
2nd line: Track number and elapsed playback time
3. Repeat playbacks continue until a playback error occurs.
Therefore, if no error has occurred after approximately 10
playbacks.

5.10. VOICE REC
Voice Recording Check
(SV-SD370V only)
[ Content ]
Repeats the "SD-card formatting, full recording (recording until
card's capacity is completely used), and playbacks" procedure,
and checks for voice recording and playback errors.
[ Operating procedure ]
1. Entering The Service Mode
Caution:
The SD-card will be formatted at the this mode.
Therefore, be sure to remove the service mode
SD-card from the audio player.
2. Select [ VOICE REC ] on the service mode menu and
then press the [PLAY/STOP] button, then displayed the
voice recording error check screen.
3. Press the [PLAY/STOP] button, then format the SD-card
and test begins.
4. Insert the recording check SD-card into the audio player.
5. The "repeated SD-card formatting, full recording 
(recording until card's capacity is completely used), 
and playback" procedure begins and the repeat count 
displays on screen.
• Content of display
1st line: Test name and repeat count
R.....Recording / P.....Playback
2nd line: Track number and elapsed time
6. The above procedure is repeated until a recording error
occurs. Therefore, if no recording error has occurred after
approximately 2 repeats.
7. Open the battery cover to complete the procedure.
When the error occurs:
If a recording or a playback error occurs, operation is
stopped, and an error code displays on screen.
• Content of display
1st line: Test name and error code
2nd line: Track number and elapsed time
For error code details, refer to section 5.15 (Error Code Table).
