REAR COVER AND RU BOARD REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Do not damage the Power Board Connector or Power Supply Cord when removing the Rear Cover.
Refer to
“Appendix A - Removing the Rear Cover” on page A-1
for complete instructions.
A Slide Bottom R Bracket to left-side, then lift-up and disconnect
1 connector to detach from Rear Cover
B Release Clips to detach Top R Bracket from Bottom R Bracket
C Release Clips to detach RU Board from Bottom R Bracket
D Remove 6 screws from Rear Cover
E Remove 1 screw from Terminal Area position
F Remove 2 screws from Rear Cover
G Remove 2 screws from Rear Cover
H Remove 5 screws from Rear Cover
I Remove 1 screw and release clips from
AC Cover to detach from Rear Cover

KDL-55HX729 ONLY
CAUTION:
The Rear Cover for this model has some sharp edges. Refer to the illustration in
“Rear Cover Caution” on page A-1
for information when handling the Rear Cover.
The Rear Cover is securely attached to the Bezel with cloth tape at the edges. Refer to
“Appendix A - Removing the Rear Cover” on page A-1
for additional illustrations that show how to
remove the Rear Cover.
Do not damage the Power Board Connector, Power Supply Cord, RU Connector, or Main Board when
removing the Rear Cover. Refer to
“Removing the Power Cord and the RU Connector” on page A-4
for
complete instructions.
NOTE:
The Antenna Sheet (C EL), Label (BAT-V Rear) and Label (BAT-V Metal Side) are not included with the
Rear Cover and must be replaced when replacing the Rear Cover.
A Press on the right side of the R Top Bracket then pull-out to detach it from the R Bottom Bracket.
B Release clip to remove the RU Board from the R Bottom Bracket.
C Disconnect 1 connector from the RU Board.
D Remove 14 screws from Rear Cover
E Remove 1 screw from Terminal Area position
F Remove 4 screws from Rear Cover
G Remove 2 screws from Rear Cover
H Remove 7 screws from Rear Cover
I Remove 1 screw from AC Cover
J Complete the following to remove the Rear Cover.

“Appendix A - Removing the Rear Cover” on page A-1
)
1. Using a small flat-head screwdriver, push the tab to the right to lift out the Wireless Antenna Cover
located on the bottom right side of the Rear Cover.
2. Using gloves or a cloth for protection against the sharp edges, grasp the corner of the Rear Cover from
inside the Wireless Antenna Cover and lift up.

“Removing the Power Cord and the RU Connector” on page A-4
)
3. After loosening the Rear Cover from the corner, you should be able to lift the bottom of the Rear Cover
off of the Bezel.
Use caution not to damage the AC cord or the RS232 connector when lifting the Rear Cover from the
Bezel.
4. After lifting the bottom of the Rear Cover, grasp the AC Power Cord while continuing to lift up the Rear
Cover.
CAUTION: Do not pull the AC Power Cord or damage the connector to the Power Supply Board.
5. Disconnect the AC Power Cord connector to detach it from the Power Supply Board.
NOTE: To release the AC Power Cord from the Rear Cover, release the clips on the inside of the AC Cover
to detach it from the Rear Cover.
6. This step is only required for models with an RU board
If the RU Board is still attached to the Rear Cover, when lifting the Rear Cover from the area around the
RU Board (located above the Terminal), disconnect the RS232 connector from the Main Board before fully
removing the cover.
