When all 12 buttons are pressed, all button indications on the screen
light in red.
When the checks of all buttons are completed without problem, the
initial screen of the service mode is displayed and “OK” is displayed
under “Button Test”.
2-4. BUTTON/FAN/LED OPERATION CHECK
The operation of each button and fan can be checked.
Procedure
1. Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 2-1.)
2. Select “Button Test” using the [ARROW] buttons and press the
[ENTER] button.
The following screen is displayed.
Fan operation check
The fan is rotated by force during “Button Test”.
LED operation check
“Access LED” is lit during “Button Test”. When all buttons are
pressed, “Access LED” flashes.
Button operation check
Press the button on the operation panel of this unit. The pressed
button indication on the color monitor lights in yellow.
The following screen shows that the [MENU] button is pressed.

2-5. USB HOST/DEVICE COMMUNICATION CHECK
The communication checks of the USB output terminal (USB device,
rear) and PictBridge terminal (USB host, front) are performed in
the service mode.
Procedure
1. Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 2-1.)
Note:
In this check, it is not required to select the item in the service
mode menu.
2. Connect the PictBridge terminal with the USB output terminal
using the USB cable.
3. Check that the following specification is satisfied.
Specification: The first two characters “??” of “USB Test” are
changed to “OK”.
Note:
If “NG” or “??” is displayed, either PictBridge terminal or USB
output terminal is defective.
2-6. MECHANICAL OPERATION CHECK
The mechanical check is performed in the service mode.
Procedure
1. Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 2-1.)
2. Select “Mechanical Test” using the [ARROW] buttons and press
the [ENTER] button.
The following screen is displayed.
Description of operation
Each operation of this unit is performed when the button on the
operation panel is pressed.
Note:
Do not press the button that is not described below.
• [INPUT SELECT] button:
The head position returns to the initial state when this button is
pressed.
• f button:
The head position moves upward when this button is pressed.
• F button:
The head position moves downward when this button is pressed.
• [MENU]button:
The head motor aging starts when this button is pressed.
When the Cancel button is pressed during aging, the operation
is discontinued.
• [ENTER] button: The electric current of head motor is switched
when this button is pressed. The electric current is switched as
follows every time the button is pressed.

• G  button: The paper feed motor moves in the paper feed direction

• [PICTURE] button:
The paper feed motor aging starts when this button is pressed.
• [MONITOR OUT] Button:
The electric current of paper feed motor is switched when this
button is pressed. The electric current is switched as follows
every time the button is pressed.

• [PRINT] button:
The test printing (gray) starts when this button is pressed.
• [AUTO PRINT] button:
DCIM\100MSDCF\DSC00001.jpg in the memory stick is
printed when this button is pressed.
To quit each operation, press the [CANCEL] button.
2-7. ABOUT THE ERROR INDICATION
In this unit, “printer status” and “last 10 error status” can be indicated
and checked in the service mode.
Startup procedure
1. Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 2-1.)
2. Select “Print Status” using the [ARROW] button and press the
[ENTER] button.
“Status indication” screen is displayed.

Indication in red:
Status indication
**Last Status**:
Status of last printing
**Current Status**: Current status
**Error 0**:
Status when the last error occurred
**Error 1**:
Status of error occurred two times earlier
The last ten errors are stored.
**Error 9**:
Status of error occurred ten times earlier

**Error 0** is displayed on the initial status screen in the past error
status. To display the earlier error history, press the Arrow (G) button
and to display the later error history, press the Arrow (g) button.
When the Arrow (g) button is pressed in the **Error 0** state,
**Last Status** is displayed. In the case that no error occurred in
the past, **Last Status** is displayed on the initial status screen.
Use the Arrow (g) button to display **Current Status**.
