1-4. SELF-DIAGNOSIS  FUNCTION
1-4-1. Self-diagnosis Function
When problems occur while the unit is operating, the self-diagnosis
function starts working, and displays on the LCD screen what to
do.
Details of the self-diagnosis functions are provided in the Instruction
manual.
1-4-2. Self-diagnosis Display
When problems occur while the unit is operating, the counter of the
viewfinder or LCD screen shows a 4-digit display consisting of an
alphabet and numbers, which blinks at 3.2 Hz. This 5-character
display indicates the “repaired by:”, “block” in which the problem
occurred, and “detailed code” of the problem.

Correction
Use the InfoLITHIUM battery.
Format the “Memory Stick Duo”.
Insert a new “Memory Stick Duo”.
Remove the power source.
Reconnect it again and operate your camcorder again.
Make flash memory data correct value. (Note 1)
Inspect or replacement of the “INTERNAL MEMORY (MS7304)”
Inspect the lens block focus reset sensor (pin 8 of CN5201 on
the LD-247 board) when focusing is performed when the focus
buttons of the touch panel are pressed in the focus manual mode,
and the focus motor driver circuit (IC5206 on the LD-247 board)
when focusing is not performed.
Inspect the lens block zoom reset sensor (pin 0 of CN5201 on
the LD-247 board) when zooming is performed when the zoom
lever is operated, and the zoom motor drive circuit (IC5206 on
the LD-247 board) when zooming is not performed.
Check whether the flexible board of the lens is broken, and
check whether it is inserted imperfectly. If there is no problem in
the flexible board, inspect the focus/zoom motor drive circuit
(IC5206 on the LD-247 board).
Inspect PITCH/YAW angular velocity sensors (SE6601 on the
JK-386 board) peripheral circuits.
Inspect PITCH/YAW angular velocity sensors (SE6601 on the
JK-386 board) peripheral circuits.
Inspect the flash memory (IC2101 on the VC-559 board).
Format the “INTERNAL MEMORY (MS7304)”.
Insert a new “INTERNAL MEMORY (MS7304)”. (Note 2)
Symptom/State
Non-standard battery is used.
“Memory Stick Duo” is unformatted.
“Memory Stick Duo” is broken.
Access error
Flash memory data are rewritten.
Drive fault
Difficult to adjust focus
(Cannot initialize focus.)

1-5-1. Laser Printed Unit
The model display adopts the laser printing method.
Therefore, the Cabinet (L) for replacement differs depending on
the destination.
As similar displays are provided, choose the suitable one for order.
Note:
After replacing the Cabinet (L), the serial number for it will
be changed to the one exclusive for service use.
Inform a customer of the serial number change and change
the serial number in the repair data.
1-5. PRECAUTION  ON  REPLACING  THE  CABINET (L)
[Repair Operation]
This unit has two kinds of Cabinet (L).
1.
Laser Print Cabinet (L)
Replace the laser print Cabinet (L) for a new one.
2.
No Laser Print Cabinet (L) (Model number label)
Swap the model number label for a new one after exchanging the Cabinet (L).
Note:
Repair and return customers’ unit as same as customers send the repair unit to your service center.
(Do not mix the laser print Cabinet (L) with No laser print Cabinet (L).)

The year of manufacture on the labels should be the same as the previous Cabinet (L) (circled portions shown on the below).
Example: For the figure below, attach the “Made of 09 years” label.
* The replacement label and “inset (how to affix)” are supplied together with Cabinet (L) for service.
