3)
Confirm the projective resolving power. And if the value does not satisfy the specification, perform repeatedly steps 1) and 2).
Fig.4-4-1
2. Adjustment Method 2 (WIDE end)
In case that the partial blur exists at the WIDE end (f=70mm)
1)
Remove the rear light shield barrel and the light shield ring.
2)
Loosen three screws fixing the 6th assy, adjust the position of the 6th assy by performing the correction by decentering and tighten
the screws.
Note:
By moving the 6th assy from the front-focus tendency position to the back-focus tendency position, the partial blur can be
improved.
3)
After performing the projective resolving power (partial blur), check the projective resolving power again and confirm that the value
satisfies the specification.
4)
If not satisfied, perform repeatedly steps 2) and 3) again.

FOCUS-SHIFT/FLANGE BACK (f’F) CHECK/ADJUSTMENT
In this section, the check and adjustment of focal point, which varies when changing the focal length by zooming, are described.
Equipment
• 1000mm Collimator
• Flange Back Tester
• A-mount Attachment
• Flange Back Gauge (43.50mm)
• Adhesive bond (B-10)
4-5-1. Focus-shift/Flange Back (f’F) Check
1. Preparation
1)
Execute “LENS GENERAL ADJUSTMENT GUIDE 3. FLANGE BACK (f’F)/OPTICAL AXIS CHECK”.
2. Focus-Shift Check
1)
Set the zoom to the TELE end.
2)
Set the flange back tester to “44.56 mm” by rotating the knob.
3)
Adjust the focus by rotating the focus ring from the NEAR end.
4)
By rotating the zoom from TELE to WIDE and from WIDE to TELE, confirm that the value at each focal length satisfies the
specification.
Note:
Do not rotate the focus ring.

In case that the flange back value (f’F) of inspecting lens does not satisfy the specification in Table 4-5-1, perform “4-5-2. Focus-
shift/Flange back (f’F) Adjustment”.
3. Flange Back (f’F) Check
1)
Set the zoom to the TELE end and the focus to the over infinity end respectively and confirm that the value satisfies the specification.
2)
Set the zoom to the WIDE end and the focus to the over infinity end respectively and confirm that the value satisfies the specification.

4-5-2. Focus-Shift/ Flange Back (f’F) Adjustment
1. Preparation
1)
Perform “4-5-1. Focus-shift/Flange back (f’F) Check” and confirm that the flange back (f’F) at each focal length satisfies the
specification in Table 4-5-1.
2. Adjustment Method 1 (TELE end)
1)
Set the zoom to the TELE end (400mm) and the focus to the over infinity end.
2)
Adjust the focus by rotating the knob of flange back tester and read the value of flange back. (Read value: a)
3)
Calculate the amount of 1st adjustment washer to be increased or decreased by entering the result “a” read in step 2) in the formula
below. (The amount of 1st adjustment washer to be increased or decreased: X)
X (Amount of 1st adjustment washer to be increased or decreased) =
(a (Focal length “400mm”, f’F (read value) at the over infinity end - 48.135) / 4.5
• In case that the value X (amount of 1st adjustment washer) is negative (-), decrease the thickness of 1st adjustment washer.
• In case that the value X (amount of 1st adjustment washer) is positive (+), increase the thickness of 1st adjustment washer.
Specification (mm): 48.045 to 48.225
4)
According to the result derived from step 3), increase or decrease the 1st adjustment washer.

5)
Adjust by repeating steps 1) to 4) until the specification is satisfied.

3. Adjustment Method 2 (WIDE end)
Note:
• After finishing the adjustment method 1 (TELE end), perform this adjustment.
• In case of performing the adjustment method 2 (WIDE end), be sure to perform the adjustment method 1 (TELE end).
1)
Set the zoom to the WIDE end (70mm) and the focus to the over infinity end.
2)
Adjust the focus by rotating the knob of flange back tester and read the value of flange back. (Read value: b)
3)
Calculate the amount of back adjustment washer to be increased or decreased by entering the result “a” read in step 2) in the formula
below. (The amount of back adjustment washer to be increased or decreased: Y)
Y (Amount of back adjustment washer to be increased or decreased) =
(b (Focal length “70mm”, f’F (read value) at the over infinity end)) - 44.75
• In case that the value Y (amount of back adjustment washer) is negative (-), decrease the thickness of back adjustment washer by Y.
• In case that the value Y (amount of back adjustment washer) is positive (+), increase the thickness of back adjustment washer by Y.
Specification (mm): 44.86 to 44.84
4)
According to the value derived from step 3), increase or decrease the back adjustment washer.
