11.  [VOLUME] jog is turned in the clockwise direction to a maxi-
mum, and checks that the sound is outputted from speaker.
12. Headphone is inserted in headphone jack (J401) and checks 
that the sound is outputted from headphone.
13. Volume is lowered and pull out the headphone.
14. Press the [BACK] button, return to the test mode menu.
15. [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] jog is turned in the clockwise or 
counterclockwise direction, select the “<KEY CHECK>”, and 
press the [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] button.
16. Whenever any buttons of this unit are pressed and jog of this 
unit is turned, the button count decreases.

18. Pull out the AC adaptor.
19. Dry battery (SIZE “C”, IEC designation LR14) is set to the 
unit.
20. Press the [

] button to turn the power on.
21. Press the [BACK] button, and checks that there is “
”mark 
in the upper right of the liquid crystal display.
22. Press the [
?/1
] button to turn the power off. And it checks that 
a liquid crystal display disappears.
4. CURRENT  MEASUREMENT  AND  RTC  CHECK

Procedure:
1.  This unit is dropped 3 times from 3 cm in height, this unit is 
shaken, and checks that there are no defects, such as shakiness 
and an allophone.
2.  [VOLUME] jog is turned in the counterclockwise direction to 
a minimum.
3.  Dummy battery is set to the unit, and regulated DC power sup-
ply outputs the voltage of 4.5 V.
4.  Enter the test mode.
5.  [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] jog is turned in the clockwise or 
counterclockwise direction, select the “<RTC CHECK>”, and 
press the [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] button.
6.  The message “RTC OK” appears on the liquid crystal display.

7.  Press the [BACK] button, return to the test mode menu.
8.  [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] jog is turned in the clockwise or 
counterclockwise direction, select the “<INITIALIZE>”, and 
press the [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] button twice to turn the 
power off. And it checks that a liquid crystal display disap-
pears.
9.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn the power on.
10. Press the [BACK] button to cancel the DAB auto scan.
11.  On the screen of the following fi gure, a back light measures in 
the state of on. Press the [BACK] button, when a back light is 
off.

It checks that current consumption of DAB function is less 
than 195 mA using an ammeter.
12. Press the [DAB/FM/AUDIO IN] button to select the FM func-
tion.
13. Press the [BACK] button to cancel the FM auto scan.
14. On the screen of the following fi gure, a back light measures in 
the state of on. Press the [BACK] button, when a back light is 
off.

It checks that current consumption of FM function is less than 
210 mA using an ammeter.
15. Press the [

] button to turn the power off. After the 10 sec-
onds, it checks that current consumption is less than 50 μA 
using an ammeter.

5. DAB RECEPTION AND AUX CHECK
Procedure:
1.  Input the following signal from signal generator to DAB an-
tenna input.
 
Output frequency:  174.928 MHz –49 dBm
2.  Dry battery is set to the unit.
3.  Telescopic antenna is perpendicularly set to the unit.
4.  Enter the test mode.
5.  [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] jog is turned in the clockwise or 
counterclockwise direction, select the “<DAB CHECK>”, and 
press the [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] button.

6.  Headphone is inserted in headphone jack (J401) and checks 
that the sound is outputted from headphone.
7.  Press the [BACK] button, return to the test mode menu.
8.  [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] jog is turned in the clockwise or 
counterclockwise direction, select the “<AUX CHECK>”, and 
press the [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] button.

9.  [VOLUME] jog is turned in the clockwise direction to a maxi-
mum.
10.  The sound source (CD etc.) is inputted into the AUDIO IN jack 
(J402) of this unit.
11. It checks that the display has changed to “Signal:ON” from 
“Signal:OFF”. And the sound is outputted from a speaker, and 
checks that there is no defective sound quality.
12. Volume is lowered, pull out the headphone and AUDIO IN 
connecting cord.
13. Remove dry battery.
6. FM RECEPTION CHECK
Procedure:
1.  Input the following signal from signal generator to FM antenna 
input.
 
Output frequency:  87.5 MHz
 
Deviation: 
75 kHz/M+S 37 %
 
Output level: 
54 dBuV/m
2.  L and R channels are outputted from the signal generator.
3.  AC adaptor is inserted in DC IN jack (J101).
4.  Enter the test mode.
5.  [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] jog is turned in the clockwise or 
counterclockwise direction, select the “<FM CHECK>”, and 
press the [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] button.

6.  [VOLUME] jog is turned to center, headphone is inserted in 
headphone jack (J401) and checks that the sound is outputted 
from headphone.
 
It checks that there is no defect. Monaural, reception cannot be 
carried out and sensitivity is weak, etc.
7.  [VOLUME] jog is turned in the counterclockwise direction to 
a minimum. The sound from a headphone becomes small suit-
ably, and checks that there is no defective sound quality.
 
(Sound is not outputted at the time of a minimum)
8.  [VOLUME] jog is turned in the clockwise direction to a maxi-
mum. The sound from a headphone becomes large suitably, 
and checks that there is no defective sound quality.
9.  Headphone is pull out from the unit. Checks that the unit is 
struck 3 times lightly and the sound from a speaker does not 
have interruption and defective sound quality.
10. [VOLUME] jog is turned in the counterclockwise direction to 
a minimum. The sound from a speaker becomes small suitably, 
and checks that there is no defective sound quality.
 
(Sound is not outputted at the time of a minimum)
11.  [VOLUME] jog is turned in the clockwise direction to a maxi-
mum. The sound from a speaker becomes large suitably, and 
checks that there is no defective sound quality.
12. The audio connecting cord from an oscilloscope is inserted in 
the headphone jack (J401).
13. The stereo waveforms are checked with an oscilloscope.

14. R channel is outputted from the signal generator, and R chan-
nel waveform is checked with an oscilloscope.

15.  L channel is outputted from the signal generator, and L channel 
waveform is checked with an oscilloscope.

16. The audio connecting cord from an oscilloscope is pull out the 
headphone jack (J401).

7. INITIALIZE
After the completion of repair, execute initialization.
All the settings, presets and the list of receivable DAB stations will 
be deleted.
Procedure:
1.  Dry battery is set to the unit.
2.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn the power on.
3.  Press the [MENU] button, and enter the menu mode.
4.  [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] jog is turned in the clockwise or 
counterclockwise direction, select the “Initialize”.

5.  [TUNER/SELECT/ENTER] jog is turned in the clockwise or 
counterclockwise direction, select the “OK”.

6.  The message “Complete” appears on the liquid crystal display, 
initializations is completed, and then turn the power off.
7.  Remove dry battery.
