SECTION  3
TEST  MODE
TUNER AM STEP CHANGE MODE
(US and Canadian models only) 
Either the 9 kHz step or 10 kHz step can be selected for the AM 
channel step.
Procedure:
1.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  Turn the [INPUT SELECTOR] button to select the “AM 
TUNER”.
3.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn off the main power.
4.  While pressing the [TUNING MODE] button, press the [
?/1
button to turn on the main power.
5.  Either the message “AM 9k Step” or “AM10k Step” appears, 
select the desired step.
VACUUM FLUORESCENT DISPLAY TEST MODE
All fl uorescent segments are tested.
When this test is activated, all segments light on at the same time, 
then each segment lights on one after another.
Procedure:
While depressing the [SPEAKERS] and the [DIMMER] buttons 
simultaneously, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
1.  ALL segments light on.

4.  Press the [DISPLAY] control, all segments light off.
SOUND  FIELD  CLEAR  MODE
The preset sound fi eld is cleared when this mode is activated. Use 
this mode before returning the product to clients upon completion 
of repair.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [MUSIC] button, press the [
?/1
] button to 
turn on the main power.
2.  The message “S.F. CLEAR” appears and initialization is per-
formed.
KEY  CHECK  MODE
Button check.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [SPEAKERS] and the [INPUT MODE] 
buttons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “REST 13” appears.
 
Every pressing of any button other than the [
?/1
] counts down 
the buttons. The buttons which are already counted once are 
not counted again. When all buttons are pressed “REST 00” 
displayed.
INITIALIZE  MODE
All preset contents are cleared when this mode is activated. Use 
this mode before returning the product to clients upon completion 
of repair.
(a) SHIPMENT MODE
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TUNING MODE] and [DIMMER] but-
tons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “CLEARING” appears and the memories are re-
set to the default values.
3.  When done, the message “CLEARED !” appears, the set will    
power off.
(b)  ALL CLEAR INITIALIZE
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TUNING MODE] and [INPUT MODE] 
buttons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “CLEARING” appears and the memories are     
reset to the default values.
3.  When done, the message “CLEARED !” appears.
(c) USER INITIALIZE
Procedure:
1.  Hold the [
?/1
] for 5 seconds.
2.  The message “CLEARING” appears on the display.
3.  After a few seconds, “CLEARED !” appears.
SWAP  MODE
The signal will be swap to all channel so that all speaker will have 
sound output.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TUNING MODE] and [MOVIE] buttons, 
press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “SWAP MODE” appears (No change while dis-
played).
PROTECTOR  EVER  MODE
This mode switch off the protector to investigate the cause of the 
protector.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TONE MODE] and [A.F.D.] buttons, 
press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  “PROTEVER” appears and switch off the set.
SOFTWARE  VERSION  DISPLAY  MODE
The software version is displayed.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TUNING MODE] and [DISPLAY] but-
tons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “N1 ** Mx.xx” appears. This is main micro-
processor version.
 
**: destination, x.xx: software version
3.  Press the [DISPLAY] button on the remote commander, HDMI 
micro-processor version or DSP fi rmware version is changed.
 
VIDEO micro-processor version “H. Ver x.xx” appears.
 DSP 
fi rmware version “S. Ver x.xx” appears.
 Hudson 
II 
fi rmware version “F. Ver x.xx” appears.
 NETWORK 
fi rmware version “N. Ver x.xx” appears.
DCAC  TEST  MODE
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TONE MODE] and the [MOVIE] buttons, 
press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “SOURCE” or “MIC” appears.
 
SOURCE: normal mode
 
MIC: mode that output audio from mic input

HISTORY  MODE
The state that the set is used is memorized.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TONE MODE] and [MUSIC] buttons, 
press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the power and “HISTORY” is 
displayed.
2.  Each time the [M]/[m] buttons on the remote commander is 
pressed, the item is switched in order as follows.

To update Main MCU, Video MCU, DSP serial fl ash and Hudson 
II software through USB.
Procedure:
1.  Plug in USB device in power off condition.
2.  While pressing the [TONE MODE] and the [DISPLAY] 
buttons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
3.  The message “UPDATING” appears and Multi Channel 
Decoding LED will blinking.
4.  If the updating progress succeed, the Multi Channel Decoding
LED will blink once per 0.1 seconds and message “COMPLETE”
appears.
5.  If the updating progress fail, the Multi Channel Decoding 
LED will blink once per 1 seconds and message “ERROR” 
appears.
USB  UPDATE  VERSION  MODE
Function that displays the version number to check whether SPDIF 
update is necessary or not.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing [TONE MODE] and [DIMMER] buttons, 
press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “VER X.XXX” is displayed after 30 seconds. 
“X.XXX” is calculated by adding all fi rmware version.
 Example:
 
(MAIN ver. + DSP ver. + HDMI ver. + FARO ver. + BridgeCo 
+ 5)/10 = Displayed version
 
MAIN = 1.02, DSP = 1.01, HDMI = 1.00, FARO = 1.03, 
BridgeCo = 1.01
 
 
(1.02 + 1.01 + 1.00 + 1.03 + 1.01 + 5)/10 = 1.007
 
1.007 = X.XXX
