SECTION  3
TEST  MODE
MEMORY  CLEAR  MODE
All preset contents are cleared when this mode is activated.
(Sound fi eld is also cleared)
Use this mode before returning the product to clients upon comple-
tion of repair.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TONE MODE] and [2CH/A.DIRECT] 
buttons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “MEMORY CLEARING...” appears and the 
memories are reset to the default values.
 
(This operation takes about 2 minutes)
3.  When done, the message “MEMORY CLEARED !” appears.
FACTORY  PRESET  MODE
The tuner preset are initialized.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TUNING MODE] and [2CH/A.DIRECT] 
buttons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “Factory Preset” appears and tuner preset are ini-
tialization is preformed.
TUNER  AM  STEP  CHANGE  MODE 
(US and Canadian models)
Either the 9 kHz step or 10 kHz step can be selected for the AM 
channel step.
Procedure:
1.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  Turn the [INPUT SELECTOR] dial to select the “AM TUN-
ER”.
3.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn off the main power.
4.  While pressing the [TUNING MODE] button, press the  [
?/1
button to turn on the main power.
5.  Either the message “AM 9k Step” or “AM10k Step” appears, 
select the desired step.
SOUND  FIELD  CLEAR  MODE
The preset sound fi eld is cleared when this mode is activated.
Use this mode before returning the product to clients upon comple-
tion of repair.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [MUSIC] button, press the [
?/1
] button to 
turn on the main power.
2.  The message “S.F. Initialize” appears and initialization is per-
formed.
FLUORESCENT  INDICATOR  TUBE  DISPLAY  TEST
All fl uorescent segments are tested. When this test is activated, all 
segments turn on at the same time, then each segment turns on one 
after another.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TONE MODE] and [A.F.D.] buttons, 
press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  All segments and all LEDs turn on.
3.  Each time [DISPLAY MODE] button to change as follows all 
on, test pattern 1, test pattern 2, all off, all on in this order.
Releasing method:
Press the [
?/1
] button to turn off the main power.
SWAP  MODE
The signal will be swap to all channel so that all speaker will have 
sound output.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [MEMORY/ENTER] and [2CH/A. DI-
RECT] buttons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main 
power.
2.  The message “SWAP MODE !” appears (No change while dis-
played).
Releasing method:
Pull out the AC power cord.
SETTING  LOCK  ON/OFF  CHANGE  MODE
All the settings can be locked.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [SPEAKERS A/B/A+B/OFF] and [MU-
SIC] buttons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “SETTINGS LOCK [ ON]” appears.
Releasing method:
1.  While pressing the [SPEAKERS A/B/A+B/OFF] and [MU-
SIC] buttons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “SETTINGS LOCK [OFF]” appears.
COMMAND  MODE  CHANGE  MODE
The command mode of the remote-commander which this set re-
ceives can be changed.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [2CH/A. DIRECT] button, press the [
?/1
button to turn on the main power.
2.  Either the message “COMMAND MODE [AV1]” or “COM-
MAND MODE [AV2]” appears. Select the desired mode.
SOFTWARE  VERSION  DISPLAY  MODE
The software version is displayed.
Note: In this mode, never press the [M] and [m] buttons on the remote 
commander.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TONE MODE] and [MUSIC] buttons, 
press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “MAIN A57ES *** vX. XX” appears.
  Each time the [DISPLAY MODE] button is pressed, 
“SUB COMMON C vX. XX”, “FAROUDJA Ver X. XX”, 
“FAROUDJA2nd Ver X. XX”, “DSP SFLASH1 Ver X.XX”, 
“DSP SFLASH2 Ver X.XX”, “NET Ver DXXXX” and “SYS-
TEM VERSION X.XXX” this order, and returns to the “MAIN 
A57ES *** vX. XX” displayed.
 
(“X. XX” shows each version)
Releasing method:
Press the [
?/1
] button to turn off the main power.
SHIPMENT  MODE
Initialize backup of EEPROM and Network and return to state of 
the shipment.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [TONE MODE] and [MOVIE/HD-D.C.S.] 
buttons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “MEMORY CLEARING...” appears and return 
to state of the shipment.
 
(This operation takes about 2 minutes)
3.  When done, the message “STANDBY” appears and turn off 
the main power.

REBOX  TEST  MODE
Displayed the number of times of the power on after the shipment.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [A.F.D.] and [SPEAKERS A/B/A+B/OFF] 
buttons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  The message “REBOX- XX” appears.
Releasing method:
Press the [
?/1
] button to turn off the main power.
KEY  CHECK  MODE
Each buttons can be checked.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [MEMORY/ENTER] and the [MOVIE/
HD-D.C.S.] buttons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main 
power.
2.  Either the message “REST 17” appears.
 
Every pressing of any button other than the [
?/1
] counts down 
the buttons.
 
(The buttons which are already counted once are not counted 
again)
3.  When all buttons are pressed “REST 00” appears.
Releasing method:
Press the [
?/1
] button to turn off the main power.
SIRIUS  FACTORY  TEST  MODE
(US and Canadian models)
Mode to confi rm operation of SIRIUS. Doing display of ID of 
SIRIUS antenna and output of audio signal that SIRIUS antenna 
generates, it is confi rmed that there are no problems in the commu-
nication of the SIRIUS antenna and the transmission of the audio 
signal.
Procedure:
1.  The SIRIUS antenna was connected, while pressing the 
[TUNING MODE] and [A.F.D.] buttons, press the [
?/1
] but-
ton to turn on the main power.
2.  Whenever the [DISPLAY MODE] button is pressed, the Mod-
ule version, SSP version, Security processor version, Audio 
processor version, Firmware product ID, Firmware product se-
quence ID, Sirius ID are displayed, next the output of the audio 
signal of 1 kHz L/R, 20 Hz L/R, 10 Hz L/R, noise L, noise R 
and stop tone are switched.
HISTORY  MODE
The state that the set is used is memorized.
Note: Even if “MEMORY CLEAR MODE” is performed, the backup data 
of “HISTORY MODE” is not cleared.
 
  Initialize by performing “SHIPMENT MODE”.
Procedure:
1.  While pressing the [MEMORY/ENTER] and [MUSIC] but-
tons, press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the power and “HIS-
TORY” is displayed.
2.  Each time the [M] or [m] buttons of remote commander is 
pressed, the item is switched in order as follows.

SPECIAL  MENU  MODE
Various version displays of system, update, test, etc. can be performed.
Setting method:
1.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn on the main power.
2.  While pressing the [TONE MODE] button, press the [A.F.D.], [2CH/A. DIRECT], [MUSIC], [MOVIE/HD-D.C.S.] button in order, the 
message “MENU SPECIALIZED !” appears.
3.  Press the [AMP MENU] button of the remote commander, the message “<<< SPECIAL >>>” appears.
4.  Press the [
,
] button of the remote commander, the item is appears.
5.  Each time the [
M
] or [
m
] buttons of the remote commander is pressed, the item is switched in order of “Display of special menu mode”.
 
Some items can change the content. Display the cursor by pressing the [

] button of the remote commander, and changing the content 
by pressing the [

] or [

] buttons of the remote commander, and fi x the content by pressing the [

] button of the remote commander 
when you want to change the content of the item.
Releasing method:
To release from this mode, while pressing the [TONE MODE] button, press the [A.F.D.], [2CH/A. DIRECT], [MUSIC], [MOVIE/HD-
D.C.S.] button in order again, the message “MENU SPECIALIZE OFF” appears, and this mode is released.
