TEST  MODE
COLD RESET
You can initialize the RAM of the microcomputer.
Procedure:
1.  Press the [
?/1
] button while pressing the [
x
] and [
A
] buttons 
simultaneously.
2.  “COLD RESET” appears on the fl uorescent indicator tube. Af-
ter that, the fl uorescent indicator tube becomes blank then the 
system becomes standby states.
PANEL  TEST
You can check items such as lighting of the fl uorescent indicator 
tube, model name, and keys.
Procedure:
1.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn on.
2.  Press three buttons of [
x
], [
.
 AMS 
>
, PUSH ENTER] 
and [
?/1
] on the set simultaneously.
3.   All segments turned on.
4.   When [
x
] button on the set is pressed after half segments in 
fl uorescent indicator tube light up. If you press [
x
] button on 
the set again, another half segments in fl uorescent  indicator 
tube light up. Pressing [
x
] button on the set again would cause 
all segments in fl uorescent indicator tube light up.
5.  When the [
.
] button on the remote commander is pressed, 
“SCDXA54” and the model name are displayed on the fl uores-
cent indicator tube.
 
Note: Each time that the [.] button on the remote commander is 
pressed, the information displayed on the fl uorescent indicator 
tube changes in the order of Destination, MC version, SYS ver-
sion, UI version, DVD version, TA version and DSP version. 
However, this cannot be used in service.
6.  Press [
N
] button on the set, in the key check mode, the fl uo-
rescent indicator tube displays “K0 J0”. 
7.  Each time a button is pressed, the “K0” value increases. When 
all keys are pressed, “K10” and “OK” are displayed alternate-
ly.
 Note: Once a button is pressed, it is no longer counted.
8.  When the [
.
 AMS

, PUSH ENTER] dial on the set is 
turned in the direction of right,“J0” is changed to “J1”, then ... 
“J9”. When the [
.
 AMS 
>
, PUSH ENTER] dial on the 
set is turned in the direction of left, “J0” is changed to “J9”, 
then ... “J0”.
Releasing method:
Press three buttons of [

CDM  TEST
You can perform an aging test on the CD Mechanism.
Procedure:
1.  Press three buttons of [

] on the set simultane-
ously.
2.  After the “Open” display blinks, “SINGLE LOADING” is dis-
played on the fl uorescent indicator tube.
3.  Press [
.
 AMS 
>
, PUSH ENTER] and then aging starts.
4.  To stop aging, Press [
x
] button.
Releasing method:
Press three buttons of [

] and [

] on the set simultane-
ously.
TROUBLE  LOG  DISPLAY
You can display a trouble log on the fl uorescent indicator tube. 
For details about the displayed trouble log, refer to “List of trouble 
log” on the next page.
Procedure:
1.  Press the [
x
] and [
A
] buttons simultaneously for three sec-
onds.
2.  “SERVICE IN” is displayed on the fl uorescent indicator tube.
3.  When [
R
] button is pressed of the remote commander. Reboot-
ing emergence factor appears of toggle article number on the 
fl uorescent indicator tube.
4.  When [
t
] button is pressed of the remote commander. MTK 
communication error factor appears of toggle article number 
on the fl uorescent indicator tube. 
5.  When [
r
] button is pressed of the remote commander. Power 
ON/OFF error factor appears of toggle article number on the 
fl uorescent indicator tube.
Release method:
Disconnect the power cord.
Note: To release from this mode, do not use the power button on the set to 
turn off the power but instead always unplug the power cord. Using 
the power button to turn off the power could disable the set.
INITIALIZATION  OF  EEPROM
You can delete all data stored in the EEPROM.
Note: Executing this mode deletes the Laser Hours and Emergency His-
tory as well.
Procedure:
1.  Press the [
x
] and [
A
] buttons simultaneously for three sec-
onds.
2.  “SERVICE IN” is displayed on the fl uorescent indicator tube.
3.  Press the button in order of the [4] 
t
 [TIME/TEXT] 
t
 
[CLEAR] on the remote commander of attachment. 
4.  The message “Complete” is displayed on the fl uorescent indi-
cator tube, and EEPROM is cleared. 
Release method:
Disconnect the power cord.
Note: To release from this mode, do not use the power button on the set to 
turn off the power but instead always unplug the power cord. Using 
the power button to turn off the power could disable the set.
