ADJUSTING PROCEDURE OF EACH SECTION
PREPARATIONS
To supply power, use a dedicated AC adaptor or a stable DC power supply.

Reassembling the set
 Turning on the power
* MAIN adjustment
Calling the adjustment process mode (using the remote controller)
 Adjusting the counter
bias and white balance
* TUNER adjustment
Calling the TUNER adjustment process mode:
Pressing the MENU key on the set
Pressing the CH UP key on the remote controller
 Pressing the M key
on the remote controller within 1 second
 The adjustment process comes on.
Press the CURSOR DOWN key 4 times, select “other adjustments” and press the OK key.
To adjust the AGC gain start, receive the E-12CH signal, select “other adjustments” and pick up the AGC gain
start.
[2] Calling the MAIN adjustment process mode
There are the following two ways to choose from.
* Turn on the power and press the “ADJUST PROCESS” key on the remote controller.
* Set KEY 4 and KEY 5, pins (81) and (82), respectively, on the microprocessor) to the “L” level. Now turn on the
power.
[3] Using the keys for the adjustment process
Selecting adjustment items and adjusting their settings
* Select an item with the MENU button (M key), and adjust its setting with the VOL+/- button. (The MENU button
allows the toggle action of a selected item. Settings modified with the VOL+/- buttons will be saved automatically.)
Setting the LCD controller register (on pages 3 and 4)
* Let’s imagine that the NTSC/PAL is selected on pages 3 and 4 of the adjustment process mode. In this case,
pressing the VOL+/- buttons will call the register select mode and move the cursor to the register setting
address “01”. In this state, the CH SELECT
]
/
[
buttons allows the vertical scroll of register setting addresses,
whereas the VOL+/- buttons allows the horizontal scroll of these addresses. (The codes in the left-hand half of
pages 3 and 4 of the adjustment process mode show the addresses.) The register setting addresses can be
entered using the button 12 on the remote controller. Once one of the addresses has been entered, the cursor
moves to its corresponding data (the code in the right-hand half on page 9 of the adjustment process mode).
(This means that this data corresponds to the address in the left-hand half.) To modify the data, use the VOL+/
- buttons, and to save the modification, use the button 12 on the remote controller. With the data now saved,
the cursor returns to the register setting address.
Other key-activated settings
* The direct channel select buttons are used to select reception channels.
* The TV/VIDEO button toggles the TV and VIDEO inputs.
The toggle action is as follows: TV
 AV1
 AV2
 AVS
 TV.
* When the auto preset button on the remote controller is pressed in the adjustment process mode, the item on
the top of the next page is reached. The pages start 1 thru 6, and back to 1.
* When the manual memory button on the remote controller is pressed in the adjustment process mode, the item
on the top of the current page is reached.

[6] Finish adjustment
6-1 Adjusting the common bias
1) Keep off the video input signal.
2) Place the specified instrument at the center of the screen.
3) Observe the instrument’s output using an oscilloscope.
4) Adjust the setting so that the peak-to-peak level of the waveform should be minimum.
6-2. Adjusting the white balance
Adjust the “RCUTOFF” and “BCUTOFF” settings, given on page 2 of the MAIN adjustment process, to the
standard monitor settings.
Note: Adjust the “RCUTOFF” and “BCUTOFF” settings in the range of -10 through +10. If without this range, the
user-adjustable settings will be limited in their ranges. Do not change the “GCUTOFF” setting. (Otherwise
the black level will vary.)
6-3. Checking the AGC gain
Receive the E-12CH signal. Call the TUNER adjustment process, and select “AGC gain start” in “other
adjustments”. Then call the MAIN adjustment process and check the “Y” setting on page 2. If the “Y” setting is
not in the range of B6 thru C1, modify the “AGC gain start” setting in the TUNER adjustment process to bring the
“Y” setting in such specified range.
[7] Inspection process
Once into the inspection process, the MCL data of each channel will be preset. When out of this process, the
MCL data will disappear.
