Note:
Do not install the new type Developer Unit(s) unless the Engine Firmware has been updated
(refer to the firmware revision table within this bulletin).
Failure to upgrade the engine firmware will result in a “DV Check CMYK” error.
Developer
The coating material and particle size for the new type developer has been changed from approx. 8um to
6um, to increase magnetic roller coverage and “tribo-electric” charge.
To identify the new type Developer, the product code has changed.

Note:
For AR-C150/250 models, the life of AR-C18LD1 is still 40k.
The “Old Type” Developer and Developer Unit will continue to be available for existing AR-C150,160 &
250 models which have not been updated with this image quality enhancement modification.
Engine Firmware
Because the resistance value of each DV unit has changed, the engine firmware has been updated to
automatically detect whether AR-DW1 or AR-DW1N are installed.
Once the Developer Unit type has been detected, the correct toner correction “look up” table is referenced for
either old or new type developer.
The Developer Unit Type can be viewed using Test Simulation 44-43 (after DV cycle):-
Type 0  = AR-DW1
Type 1  = AR-DW1N

Please note that the enhancements are effective, only when new Developer, Developer Units
and Engine Firmware have been installed/upgraded.
If the wrong combination is used (old type DV unit and new type Developer), it will not be
effective and will cause copy quality problems (DV particles will attach to the drum).
