C. Details of operations
(1) Paper feed tray section operation
The pickup roller moves up and down to press the paper surface to
separate the top paper, which is sent to the paper feed roller.
The paper feed roller sends the paper to the transport section. The
separation roller prevents against double feed.
The pickup roller is moved up and down by the pickup solenoid.
ON/OFF control of the pickup roller and the paper feed roller is made
by the paper feed clutch.
The paper lift plate lifts paper to control the upper limit position so that
the pressure between the top paper and the pickup roller is kept con-
stant.
This assures stable paper feed operations. Lifting is made by the lift
motor and the lift gear.
The paper upper limit detector detects the lift position to control the
pressure between the top paper and the pickup roller.
The paper feed tray is provided with the paper size detection block.
The concavo-convex surface of the block is detected by the combina-
tion of ON/OFF of the four paper size detectors to identify the paper
size.

Other pattern than the above
Recognized as no installation of
the  paper tray.
[EXTRA] Operates on the paper size set by the user program.
The remaining paper quantity is calculated from the rpm of the lift mo-
tor from when the lift position sensor detects the lift plate lower limit
position to when the paper upper limit detector detects the paper up-
per limit.
(2) Manual paper feed section operation  (AR-C150 only)
The pickup roller moves up and down to press the paper surface to
separate the top paper, which is sent to the paper feed roller.
The paper feed roller sends the paper to the transport section. The
separation roller and the paper stopper prevent against double feed.
The pickup roller and the paper stopper are moved up and down by
the pickup clutch solenoid. ON/OFF control of the pickup roller and
the paper feed roller is made by the paper. The paper is sent to the
resist roller by the manual paper transport roller.
The paper size is detected by the paper length detector and the paper
width detector.
The paper width sensor is of the variable resistor type. It detects the
paper width by detecting the resistance which varies according to the
paper guide position.
The tray position detector detects that the paper tray is set in the
max. length position or in the min. length position.
When the paper tray is set in the max. length position, the paper
length detector is forcibly turned on. It is identified by the tray position
detector.
(3) Paper transport section
In this section, the paper fed from the paper feed section is trans-
ported to the transfer section (resist roller) by two or more transport
rollers.
ON/OFF control of the transport rollers is made by the paper transport
clutch.
(4) Paper resist section
The resist roller controls the relative positions of the transported pa-
per and the transfer images.
The resist roller is driven by the resist roller motor.
The relative positions of the paper and the transfer images are deter-
mined by the ON timing of the resist roller motor.
(5) Others
The paper transport section is provided with two or more paper
detectors, which performs the following functions.
1) Paper jam detection
2) Output of basic signals for operating timing of each load

2. Scanner (reading) section
A. Outline
This section performs the following functions and operations.
1) Lights are radiated to an original by the scanner lamp, and the
contrast of the reflected lights is read by the CCD elements of the
RGB lines to convert it into the image signal (analog).
2) The image signal (analog) is converted into 8bit digital signal by
the A/D converter.
3) The image signal (digital) is sent to the image process section
(ICU PWB).
