9) Remove the slide pin of the front cover unit.
10) Insert the slid pin as shown below and make positioning in the
vertical direction.
11) Insert the slide pin as shown below and make positioning in the
horizontal direction.
(Initial position positioning is completed.)
Never loosen the screws which are not indicated in the figure.
If loosened, the adjustment cannot be made and the unit must be
replaced.
12) Make a sample copy in the initial position and measure the
magnification ration again.
13) Change the installing position in the horizontal direction to adjust
the magnification ratio.
When the copy image is longer than the original, move in
the direction of B.
When the copy image is shorter than the original, move in
the direction of A.
One scale of scribe line corresponds to 0.2%.
For fine errors which cannot be adjusted with this
adjustment, use the next simulation SIM 48-1.
Never loosen a screw other than these ones.

(6) Main/sub scanning direction magnification ratio
adjustment
1) Before this adjustment, perform the previous adjustment of CCD
unit installation position.
2) Place a scale on the original table as shown. (Scale a and scale b
may be placed together or individually.)
After warming up, the ready lamp lights up.
The current set value is displayed simultaneously. (0
 20)
3) Make a normal copy and obtain the main/sub scanning direction
magnification ratios.
Copy magnification ratio (MRCP)
 =
(
Original dimension – Copy dimension
)
Original dimension

×
 100%
4) Execute SIM 48-1.
5) Change value A so that the magnification ratio in the sub scanning
direction is within the specified range.
6) Change value B so that the magnification ratio in the main scan-
ning direction is within the specified range.
Adjustment specification: Within
±
0.8%
When the copy dimension is smaller than the original
Make the value greater.
When the copy dimension is greater than the original
Make the value smaller.
When the value is changed by one step, the ratio is changed by
about 0.1%.
[AR-280 only]
7) Make a copy of A3 original with SPF, and measure the magnifica-
tion ratio in the sub scanning direction.
8) Change value C so that the magnification ratio in the sub scan-
ning direction is within the specified range.
9) Press the CA key to cancel the simulation.
(7) Image loss and void area adjustment
Before performing this adjustment, check that SIM 50-5 is set to 50. If
it is not, set SIM 50-5 to 50.
  1) Place a scale on the document table and make a copy at 100%.
In this case, the following conditions must be satisfied.
The lead edge of the scale must be completely copied.
The paper transport direction must be in parallel with the
scale image direction.

  2) Cut the paper along the lead edge of the scale image.
  3) Place the scale on the document table as shown below.
Place the scale at the center along the document guide as
shown below.
 4) Execute SIM 50-2.
  5) Set IMAGE LOSS and DEN-A to 20.
  6) Set L1, L2, and L3 to 0.
  7) Make a copy at 400%. (Document table mode)
  8) Measure the dimension of L1 and L2 of the scale copy image.
  7) Enter the actual measurement value of distance L1 to L1 on the
operation panel in the unit of 0.1mm.
  8) Enter the actual measurement value of distance L2 to L2 on the
operation panel in the unit of 0.1mm.
  9) Set the document made in procedure 1) and procedure 2) on the
SPF and make a copy at 200%. (SPF mode)
10) Measure the dimension of L3 of the scale copy image.
11) Multiple the measured values (mm) with 10, and enter the prod-
ucts to L1, L2, and L3.
12) Set the copy magnification ratio to 100% and make a copy.
Change the set value of DEN-B and adjust the rear edge void
area.
If the adjustment is incomplete or if a fine adjustment is required,
change the adjustment values.
When the adjustment value is changed by 1, the following items
are changed on the copy by 0.1mm.

original table.
2) Execute SIM 50-12.
3) Press the PRINT button after lighting the RPL, and a coy will be
made. If the arrow image on the copy paper is shifted from the
center line as shown below, change the set value and adjust.
In the case of A
decrease the set value.
In the case of B
increase the set value.

(One point of the set value corresponds to the change of about
0.1mm.)
[In the case of the AR-280]
4) Make a copy of A4 original with the SPF, and measure the off-
center.
5) Change value C so that the off-center is within the specified
range.
[In the case of the AR-285/335]
