Check that [CUSTOM MODE: ON] is displayed in the upper right of
the screen, and executes EXCUTE of the menu. 
•  The release method in custom mode
1) Custom mode is changed to OFF in the above-mentioned proce-
dure

2) When a set value of a detailed menu is returned to an initial value,
[RESET] is executed by above-mentioned procedure

3) EXECUTE is performed, the normal mode starts.
4) Turn off a monitor main unit
Caution: Even if it performs [all reset], custom mode is not canceled.
When you cancel custom mode, please be sure to operate it in
the above-mentioned procedure.

2-8. CUSTOM MODE SPECIFICATION
[How to set up the CUSTOM mode]
(1) [

] + [

]  + [POWER] buttons on the control panel is pushed to
enter CUSTOM MODE.
(2) "CUSTOM MODE" is selected, then it is changed from "OFF" to
"ON". ("OFF" or "ON" is selectable. Preset is "OFF".)
After the power is turned off, CUSTOM mode is started from the
next power on.

CUSTOM mode can be canceled by changing from "ON" to "OFF"
on the above procedure (2).
*
It can be set up by the control panel or the remote controller button
operation. Only the following button works on the CUSTOM MODE
(MENU) screen.

The setting for CUSTOM mode can NOT be reset by ALL RESET
([MENU] + [OK/BRIGHT MODE] + [POWER]).

The setting for CUSTOM mode can be reset by INITIALIZE

In case of ADUSTMENT LCOK ON, when "CUSTOM MODE" is
changed from "OFF" to "ON", ADJUSTMENT LOCK is automatically
changed to OFF. And, ADUSTMENT LOCK can't be turned on.

When ADJUSTMENT LOCK is ON, INITIALIZE and ALL RESET
does not work.

(4) There are the following two methods to exit CUSTOM MODE MENU.
• EXECUTE in CUSTOM MODE MENU is done. When the setup of
"CUSTOM MODE" is ON, contents of a setup are saved and the
CUSTOM mode is started. When the setup of "CUSTOM MODE" is
OFF, contents of a setup are saved and the normal mode is started.
• [POWER] button is pushed, contents of a setup are saved and the
monitor is turned off.

• The user chooses whether an operation by control panel button is
"ENABLED" or "DISABLED".
•  The preset is "ENABLED".
• The following hidden operation is possible even when it is set up in
"DISABLED "

• The user chooses whether OSD display is "ENABLED" or "DIS-
ABLED".
•  The preset is "ENABLED".
• When OSD DISPLAY is "DISABLED", even when SCREEN OFF
MODE on the CUSTOM MODE MENU is "ENABLE", SCREEN OFF
MODE becomes "DISABLED" and gray out.
• Even when OSD DISPLAY is "DISABLED", CUSTOM MODE MENU
OSD can be displayed.
• When OSD DISPLAY is "DISABLED", [MENU], [SLEEP TIMER],
[VOLUME/BRIGHT

] (on the control panel) buttons can not work.
• When OSD DISPLAY is "DISABLED", the set period of SLEEP
TIMER is cleared.
(3) START MODE DESIGNATION
•  The INPUT MODE or TV CHANNEL can be specified when the mon-
itor is turned on.
• The preset is "NORMAL". (The INPUT MODE or TV CHANNEL cho-
sen when the monitor was turned off last time.)
• The setup item of the menu can be changed by the [

• When the monitor is turned on when a setup was except for NOR-
MAL,  it starts by the INPUT MODE or TV CHANNEL which set up.
Switching after that is possible.
•  "PROGRAMMES" in the menu isn't indicated in the case of
[CH01] - [CH99].
(4) PC MODE PERMIT
[ENABLED] (default): user can switch to "PC " input.
[DISABLED]
: user cannot switch to "PC" input.
 "PC" button on R/C should be unavailable.
(5) TV MODE PERMIT
[ALL] (default)
: user can select all channels on TV input.

(7) AV2 MODE PERMIT
[ENABLED] (default): user can switch to "AV2" input.

"AV2" button on R/C should be unavailable.
Note:

These settings are effective only for normal input switch.
User can select all sources for PIP and PC sound even if user set
them to "DISABLED".
e.g.
1) TV is disabled but user selects TV source for PIP or PC sound.
That means CH up/down,and direct channel should be avail-
able on PC+PIP(TV) or PC+PC sound(TV).
2) TV is disabled and user selects AV1 source for PIP or PC sound.
That means CH up/down,and direct channel should be
unavailable on PC+PIP(AV1) or PC+PC sound(AV1).
b.
If user set all of them to "DISABLED", all input sources can be
selected.
c.
If user select other than "NORMAL" on "START CODE",

Switching input source keys are available for only the enabled
sources.

(8) MAXIMUM VOLUME LIMITATION
•  The maximum volume of the speaker and head phone is restricted in
the range of 0- 100.
•  The volume can not be increased beyond the established value.
•  The preset is "100".
•  When it is set up in less than 99, volume OSD becomes only a num-
ber, and a volume bar isn't indicated. Please refer below VOLUME
OSD for MAXIMUM VOLUME LIMITATION.
•  This setting is common in the PC mode and the TV/AV mode.
•  The initial value of the volume becomes 20 when maximum volume is
restricted to 20 when the initial value of the volume is 30.
(9) VOLUME FIXATION
• The user chooses whether the volume of the speaker and the head
phone is fixed or not.
•  The preset is "DISABLED".
[How to set up]

Before going into the CUSTOM MODE MENU, it is set up in the vol-
ume which it wants to set up in the normal mode with a volume but-
ton. Volume at this time becomes volume to fix volume.

It goes into the CUSTOM MODE MENU after the monitor is turned off.

VOLUME FIXATION is changed from DISABLED to ENABLED.
• The setting of DISABLED or ENABLED is common in the PC
mode and the TV/AV mode.( Fixed volume is independent.)
•  When a setup is ENABLED, Volume can not be changed, and
VOLUME and MUTE OSD are not indicated even if [VOLUME

] [MUTE] button on the remote controller is pushed.
•  When a setup is ENABLED, when [VOLUME. BRIGHT

tons on the control panel is pushed, VOLUME & BRIGHT OSD is
shown, but volume can not be changed.
•  After a setup is changed from ENABLED to DISABLED, the value
of volume is set up in 1, and it can be changed with [VOLUME

•  It gives priority to the setup of VOLUME FIXATION when MAXI-
MUM VOLUME LIMITATION and VOLUME FIXATION are set up
at the same time.
(10)REMOTE CONTROLLER
• An user chose whether the remote controller operation is
"ENABLED" or "DISABLED".
•  The preset is "ENABLED".
•  Even when a setup is "DISABLED", the remote controller opera-
tion is enabled in CUSTOM MODE MENU.
(11)SCREEN OFF MODE
•  An user chose whether "OFF" mode is added in BRIGHT MODE
or not.
•  The "OFF" mode is black screen is displayed and back light is
turned off.
•  The preset is "DISABLED".
• When OSD DISPLAY is DISABLED, SCREEN OFF MODE is
automatically set up to DISABLED and gray out not to change to
ENABLED.
• When a setup is ENABLED, the mode changes at the time of
[BRIGHT MODE] button push as follows.
• The setting of DISABLED or ENABLED is common in the PC
mode and the TV/AV mode.

When it is set up in "OFF" in the BRIGHT MODE, the display is
changed to the black screen, and "OFF" OSD is indicated for 5 minutes.
After OSD disappears, back light is turned off.
When the following is manipulated in the BRIGHT MODE at the "OFF"
time, only back light is turned on, and OSD corresponding to the top of
the black screen is indicated.

3. SERVICE TOOL
3-1. HOW TO USE THE FLASH MEMORY &
EDID DATA WRITING TOOL
Software programs that need to be written in the LL-171ME are flash
memory data (firmware) and EDID data.
 Procedures for writing in EDID data & Flash memory data

The contents of a custom modecustom mode setting are memo-
rized to the memorandum etc. (when required).

3-2. HOW TO USE THE FLASH MEMORY
WRITING TOOL
Software programs that need to be written in the LL-171ME 
are flash memory data (firmware) and EDID (data for DDC). Since this
tool writes only flash memory data, EDID should be written separately
after flash memory data is written.
[System requirements for the tool]
Windows95/Windows98
(The tool won't work with Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP.)
 Procedures for writing in flash memory
1.
Connect the jigs to the PC. (See the separate connection diagram.)
2.
Install the tool and firmware write data to the PC in the following
manner:
(1) Make a folder c:\fg.
(2) Copy all files in the Launcher Tool (Ver3.02E) floppy disk to the
folder c:\fg.
Use version 3.02E or later.
(3) Copy all the contents of the Flash Memory Writing data (latest
data) to the folder made above. (Any compressed files should
be expanded.)
3.
Execute "Launcher.exe".
Select LL-171ME from the Class drop-down menu. Select 
"LL-171ME write FLASH (firmware)" from the Contents menu and
then press "Go".
4.
When a window which confirms your intention to execute appears,
press "Yes" and go to the next step.
Note that you should not connect the monitor to the tool yet at this
point.
When the button is pressed, the screen changes.
5.
When the following window appears, connect the jigs to the monitor
and press the power supply button of the monitor.  (If the power supply
has already been turned on, turn off the power supply and then turn it
on again.)
When writing starts, a progress meter appears.  If no progress meter
appears, check the jigs for proper connection.
6.
When the following window appears, writing has finished.  Then the
monitor restarts.
7.
Press the power supply button of the monitor to turn off the power supply.
8.
Press and hold down both the [INPUT], [MENU] and [
d
] button
while pressing the power supply button on the monitor.
9.
After "ALL RESET" appears on the screen, the monitor starts up.
10. Press the power supply button on the monitor to turn off the power sup-
ply.
3-3. HOW TO USE EDID TOOL
The LL-171ME holds the model name, serial number and production
week of each set in U16 as EDID data.
If U16 is changed due to servicing or maintenance, write EDID data in
U16 using this tool.
Instructions for use:
1) Connect the VGA cable of the jig to the VGA connector of the monitor
in accordance with the writing jig connection diagram.

Make sure the cable is connected before turning on the power
supply of the monitor.
2) Insert the Service Tool floppy disk to the PC, and turn on the power
supply of the PC.
3) Enter the write command as follows:
