CHAPTER 9. DIAGNOSTICS
FUNCTION
1. General
This chapter describes the diagnostic program installed to the UP-
T80BP and its operations.
The purpose of this diagnostic program is to check the machine
operations in servicing and evaluate the product by continuous opera-
tions.
The diagnostic program is started by the command from the host.
Application software for test which is performed in the host PC by the
command is available.
This chapter, therefore, describes both the stand-alone operations of
the UP-T80BP and test application of the host, which are identified as
the stand-alone test (UP-T80BP stand-alone) and the connection test
(host).
The intended host machine is PC-AT or its compatible machines with
DOS 6.2. In this chapter.
2. Test program start
2-1. Stand-alone test
(1)
Turn off all DIP SW2. (DIP SW1 is ignored.)
(2)
Set the MASTER RESET switch (MRS SW) to the MRS side.
(3)
With the PF key pressed, supply the AC power. (The machine
enters the test mode.)
(4)
Turn on the DIP switch (DS1/2) corresponding to the test to be
executed.
(For setting the DIP switch, refer to "3. Program Code List" on
page 10-2.)
(5)
Turn on the on-line key to start the test program.
(6)
After completion of the test, turn off the power switch and set the
DIP switch for shipment.
Shipment setting: DIP SW1/2 = All OFF (No need to change for
the connection test.)
MRS SW = 1 side (Continue) (No need to
change in connection test.)
(7)
After completion of the test, turn off the power switch and return
the DIP switch to the original state.
(8)
Execute the master reset and cancel the test mode.
Note:
1
When the power is turned on, the printer cable connection and
the sensor cable connection are tested.
When there is no connection, the operation is terminated.
2
As the conditions for entering the test mode, (DIP SW1 is ig-
nored) and DIP SW2 to ALL OFF.
If the power is turned on with DIP SW2 tab set to ON, "IPL ERR"
occurs.
To cancel the test mode, perform the master reset.
3
To test the all functions of the control PWB, perform the auto
test after completion of the DIP switch test.
2-2. Connection test (Procedure with UP-T80BP
test ROM used in the host)
Host: POS machine with TTL level RS232C communication function
(without UP-3300 or UP-5300)
For details of entering the diag mode, follow the DIAG specifications
of each host.
The UP-T80BP connection test program must be installed to
the host before test.
The DIP SW 1/2 of UP-T80BP must be set to OFF. (*Factory
setting)
(1)
Connect the UP-T80BP RS232 connector cable to the TTL level
RS232 connector of the host.  Then connect the AC cable to the
host.
(2)
With the PF key of UP-T80P pressed,
turn on the power switch of the host.
: Entering the initial menu.
(When the MRS SW is on 1 side,
perform this procedure after
executing MRS.)

(3)
Select the setup item on the host’s
setup menu and pres the enter key.
: Selection of setup item

(4)
After completion of host setup,
the machine enters the menu display.
: Entering the menu.
(5)
Select an item on the host’s menu.
: Execution of each test
(6)
To cancel the test item, use the host.
Note:
