To  make  the  process  of  adding  new  and  editing  existing  EAN’s/Barcodes,  the 
‘Sharp  POS  Manager’  software  VPM4  now  allows  the  scanner  to  be  used  in 
various areas. 
 

The scanner can be used in VPM whilst the ‘Sharp POS Software’ is running, to 
allow this, VPM must be launched from the ‘SHARP POS MAIN MENU’ using one 
of the 2 user-definable buttons. 

 
NOTE:  To  allow  scanning  to  take  place  within  the  ‘Sharp  POS  Software’  it  is 
important to close VPM after use.

In order to enable the scanner for use in VPM there is a new option VPM – Tools 

–  Product  Scanner.  Choose  the  correct  com  port  and  enable  the  scanner.  This 
new setting is independent of the scanner port setting within Till configuration – 
Physical.

Select VPM – Products – simply scan the product and the new product template 
will be displayed including the new barcode, if a scanner is not being used, select

Before selecting ‘Update’ assign the correct description/department and pricing 
etc then select update. 

 
If you wish to modify an existing product the process is the same, simply scan 
the Barcode within VPM - Products 

 
Also within VPM – Products – General – there is a new option ‘defaults for new 
products’ this allows an existing product to be used as a template and is a useful 

tool when adding lots of new products with the same department / analysis

The PLU number and description search option within VPM – PRODUCTS – 
OTHER PRODUCTS  has been enhanced to allow PLU’s to be located easily. Upto

To perform a PLU search, simply press the heading PLU and enter the required 
PLU number in the ‘PLU Search’ field.  The matching PLU will be displayed in the

To perform a PLU description search, simply press the heading Description and 
enter the required Description in the ‘TEXT Search’ field.  The PLU matching the

When adding items to a list within VPM there can be a delay if the product 
database contains a large number of items. In order to speed up this process a 
simple click on 'Button Function' has been introduced. 
 

 
 
 

 
 
 

 
 
 
 

 
 
 

 
 
 
 

 
By default when ‘Button Function’ is pressed the selection tree will only show 8-
digit items or less products. If you want ALL the products, press the 'Button 

Function' and don't release for 0.5 sec, and you'll then get all the products.
