DIGITAL GAMMA is a digital image quality enhancement function that gives a
richer image by brightening the darker and more obscure portions of the
image without altering the brightness of the brighter portions, thereby making
the entire image easier to see.
Use the following procedure to change the setting to “ON”, “OFF” or “AUTO”,
and change the level for the DIGITAL GAMMA setting when “ON” is selected.

Press FUNCTION during playback.
• The Function control screen appears.

Use 

' or " to select 

 and then press

ENTER.

Press 

' or " to change the DIGITAL GAMMA setting to “ON”, “OFF” or

“AUTO”.

While “ON” is selected, use 

\ or | to

change the level setting.

Press ENTER to confirm the setting.
• You can exit the Function control screen by pressing FUNCTION or

DIGITAL SUPER PICTURE is a digital image quality enhancement function that
gives a clearer image by sharpening the details and outlines in the image and
reducing the amount of picture noise.
Use the following procedure to change the setting between “ON” and “OFF”,
and the level for the DIGITAL SUPER PICTURE setting.

Press FUNCTION during playback.
• The Function control screen appears.

Use 

' or " to select 

 and then press

ENTER.

Press 

' or " to toggle DIGITAL SUPER PICTURE between “ON” and “OFF”.

While “ON” is selected, use 

\ or | to

change the level setting.
• To see more detail in very intricate

images, set this setting to 

.

• To obtain a subtle softening of the

outlines of the displayed images, set this
setting to 

.

• Moving the setting towards 

 for DVD

playback and towards 

 for VIDEO

CD playback improves image quality.

Press ENTER to confirm the setting.
• You can exit the Function control screen by pressing FUNCTION or

RETURN.

• In case of playback on TV, the DIGITAL SUPER PICTURE effects on the actual

image depend on whether the Player’s LCD display is open.

• Playing back a PAL disc while a plug is connected to the VIDEO IN/OUT jack may

result in poor LCD screen image quality. This does not indicate malfunction of the
Player.

While a disc is playing, press ZOOM.
• Each press of ZOOM cycles through

the zoom settings in the following
sequence: ZOOM 1 (1.2

×) → ZOOM

2 (1.5

×) → ZOOM 3 (2.0×) → Off.

Note that all of the above zoom
factors are approximate only.

• When playing a pan scan disc while

 is selected as the “TV

MODE” setting on the “TV MODE SETUP” screen, each press of ZOOM
cycles through zoom settings in the following sequence: ZOOM 1 (1.2

×)

→ ZOOM 2 (1.5×) → Off.

• While an image is zoomed, you can press SHIFT and then use

and 

| to shift the view and display the part you want.

• An image may become distorted when zoomed.
• You can cancel the zoom operation and return the image to normal size by

pressing 

Ë (STOP), MENU, TITLE, È (FWD), è (REV) or FUNCTION.

• The zoom setting is cancelled automatically whenever you display a DVD screen

that enables you to change the scene by pressing 

', ", \ or |.

• Subtitle cannot be zoomed.

• The ZOOM indicator changes from white to red to let you know when you are

trying to perform an illegal shift of view. If you are already at the far left side
of the image, for example, the ZOOM indicator will become red when you
press 

\ .

Play the chapter you want to repeat.

Press 

(REPEAT) and then press 

û (PLAY) to start repeat play of the chapter.

• To cancel repeat play, press

(REPEAT) again. This clears the

” indicator from the display.

• You may not be able to use repeat play with some discs.

 

Play the title you want to repeat.

Press 

(REPEAT) twice and then press 

û (PLAY) to start repeat play of

the title.
• To cancel repeat play, press
