The operation procedure for 
inputting characters manually
NOTE 
Numeric characters such as IP address can be entered on 
the input screen either by selecting each of the characters 
in the “Numeric” mode or using the 
Number buttons on 
the remote control.

Before using the USB memory device
CAUTION:
Do not remove the USB memory device or unplug 
the AC cord while the operations for “USB Memory 
Management” or “Software Update (Manual Update 
from USB memory device)” are being performed.
Do not use a USB extension cable when connecting a 
USB memory device to the USB terminal on the player.
Using a USB extension cable may prevent the player 
from performing correctly.
NOTE:
SHARP cannot guarantee that all brands’ USB memory 
devices will operate with this player.
Only USB memory devices formatted with FAT 32/16 
are compatible.
When formatting a USB memory device using a PC, 
perform the following settings.
Format File System: FAT32
Allocation Unit Size: Default Allocation Size
USB Memory Management
The following instructions explain how to delete data 
such as the Virtual Package data and the BD-LIVE 
data in a USB memory device.
When you insert or remove a USB memory device, be 
sure to turn the main power off.
Insert the USB memory device into the USB 
terminal on this player.
Press 
HOME to display the menu screen.
Press 
a/b to select “Settings”, then press d or

Software Update Settings
In this player, the software version can be updated 
using either one of the following methods.
Manual Update from Network
Manual Update from USB memory device
Manual Update from Network
This function allows you to perform the update 
operation by accessing an Internet connection 
manually to check if there is a new firmware version.
NOTE 
Make sure that the LAN cable is connected to this player 
if a wired Internet connection is made. Make sure that the 
wireless router/access point is connected to the Internet if 
a wireless Internet connection is made. (See pages 22–23.)
Make sure to perform the communication settings. (See 
pages 45–48.)
It may take time to access and download the update 
depending on the Internet connection and other factors.
CAUTION 
While downloading or updating the software, do not 
remove the LAN cable when it is used for the Internet 
connection, do not unplug the AC cord, do not remove any 
cables from the router/access point and do not turn off the 
router/access point.

Manual Update from USB memory 
device
This function allows software updates by inserting a 
USB memory device with the update file into the USB 
terminal on this player.
When a software update is performed, the software update 
data must be written onto the USB memory device in 
advance using a PC.
The USB memory device must be clear of all files except 
software update data to allow new software uploading.
To check for the availability of a software update, 
visit http://www.sharp.de/de.
When software update data is released, copy the data onto 
a USB memory device after downloading it to a PC.
For methods such as downloading and copying to a USB 
memory device, carefully read the description shown on 
the website before performing the operation.
NOTE 
Only USB memory devices formatted with FAT 32/16 are 
compatible.
When formatting a USB memory device using a PC, 
perform the following settings.
Format File System: FAT32
Allocation Unit Size: Default Allocation Size
Do not extract the firmware update file to any folders other 
than the root directory on the USB memory device. The 
firmware update file must be only one file directly in the root 
directory.
CAUTION 
Do not remove the USB memory device or unplug the AC 
cord while the software is being updated.
When you insert a USB memory device, be sure to 
turn the main power off.
Insert the USB memory device with the update 
file into the USB terminal on this player.
Press 
B to turn on the power.
The screen shown in part 
2 of step 9 will be 
automatically displayed. (Go to part 
2 of step 9.)
If “No” is selected in part
