   Function:
1. After entering the test mode, start the unit as set to the VTR (VTR1) function in the same manner as the normal
    operation.
2. Start up the unit with the volume set to 25 (-16dB) and the surround set to the STEREO mode. X-BASS must be
    turned off.
3. The volume can be increased or decreased among 4 levels of 0, 1, 25, and 40 only if the volume control key input
    is performed.
4. “AMP TEST” is always displayed at the bottom of the FL. It changes to the operational indication for 3 seconds
only when the following operations are performed. All the controls except for the display perform the same
    operations.
    • The volume level is displayed when it is changed.
    • When the X-BASS key is operated, its ON/OFF status appears.
    • The frequency appears when the function is switched to TUNER.
    • The operation is displayed for the first 3 seconds when the DVD play, stop, or pause operation is performed.
    • When various errors occur. In this case, the error is always displayed until it is restored.
The elapsed time during DVD/CD playback is not displayed.

4. KEY Test Mode
Outline:
This is to check that the system microcomputer properly acknowledges the key operations on the main unit.
Operation: In this test mode, the power is supplied only for the display, and all the FL indications are turned off as in the test
menu mode.
Then, the indication of 8 digits that corresponds to the key identified by the system microcomputer is displayed in
the FL.
When the power key is pressed, the whole FL is lit for 2 seconds before its power is turned off and the test mode
is canceled.

5. DVD/CD Lid Test Mode
Outline:
The DVD/CD cover is opened and closed repeatedly and the number of repetitions is displayed in the FL. If the finger
jam or time over is detected while the cover is opening or closing, the cover operations is stopped and the error
indication and the number of repetitions are displayed.
Keys available in this test mode are POWER, PLAY, STOP, and OPEN/CLOSE only.
Operation: 1. After entering the test mode, “TEST” is displayed at the top of the FL and “00000” at the bottom, and the unit waits
until the next key operation is performed.
If the CD cover is not closed, close it during this operation.
2. The test is commenced by pressing the OPEN/CLOSE key. The CD cover is controlled in the following procedure
and the FL shows the number of open/close repetitions. The test operation is repeated until the STOP or POWER
key is pressed or the error is detected.
a. Open the DVD/CD cover until the OPEN completion is detected.
b. When the OPEN completion is detected, stop the DVD/CD cover operation and wait for 2 seconds.
c. After 2 seconds, close the DVD/CD cover until the CLOSE completion is detected.
d. When the CLOSE completion is detected, stop the DVD/CD cover operation, display the counter in the FL and
    wait for 2 seconds.
e. After 2 seconds, return to step a and repeat the procedure.
3. If finger jam is detected in the middle of the closing operation, or the error that the opening and closing of the cover
does not complete in 5 seconds is detected, “Er
∗∗∗∗∗
is displayed at the bottom of the FL, the motor is stopped,
and the unit enters the stand-by mode. (
∗∗∗∗∗
indicates the number of repetition until the test is stopped.)
4. If the STOP key is pressed, the cover operation is stopped at that point (even in the middle of an operation). The
FL indication does not change. The interrupted operation and counting resume from the same point if the OPEN/
CLOSE key is pressed in this state.
5. Pressing the POWER key closes the cover if it is open, and the test mode is canceled to reset.
Supplementary note:
1. The counter continues endlessly. When it reaches the maximum value (99999), the counter returns to “00000”
and continues counting.
6. DVD unit ROM write test mode
Outline:
This mode is to set the microcomputer of the DVD unit to the write mode onto FLASH ROM. In this test mode, “TEST”
is displayed at the top of the FL and “DVD WRITE” at the bottom. All the key operations except for the POWER key
are prohibited.
Operation: 1. Set the output DVD WRITE port to “L”, and the DVD +B port to “H”.
2. Other ports maintains the state at the transition to the test menu mode, and do not detect any change of input
except for SYS_STOP and RESET (communication with the DVD unit is interrupted.)
3. If the power key is pressed during this operation, the test mode is canceled and the reset process is started.

7. TUNER Test Mode
Outline:
Start up the unit as set to the TUNER function in the same procedure as the normal operation. Operations and
indication after startup are identical with the normal operations. However, what is different is that the frequencies
as shown in the table below are set to the tuner preset memory in advance.
Test mode operation:
(1) After entering the test mode, start up the unit with the tuner set to the preset No. 1 station, in the same manner
as in the regular startup. When starting up, the following stations are preset which vary according to the
     destination.
(2) The operation is identical with the normal operation after startup.
(3) If the POWER key is pressed, irregular data is written in the RAM check data and the microcomputer is reset.
With this operation, abnormal memory is detected during the reset process, and microcomputer settings are
     initialized.

8. ASPM (RDS) Test Mode
Outline:
This is to check the RDS ASPM function in the production line. This mode is started as set to the FM stereo
function. Then the receiver frequencies between 105.00MHz and 108.00MHz are scanned, and a maximum of 3
RDS stations are stored in preset memory.
Test mode operation:
(1)  When the power is turned on, this mode is started at FM stereo band 106.50MHz of the TUNER function. At the
same time, preset channels 1, 2, and 3 are set to vacant, and FM stereo 87.50MHz is stored to ch4 – ch40.
(2) The receiver frequencies are scanned from 105.00MHz with the ASPM key, and the ASPM operation begins.
(3) If an RDS station is received, it is stored in memory from ch1 in order. (In the ASPM test mode, PS names do
not have to be memorized. When switching channels, the frequency is displayed at the head.)
(4) Scanning stops when 108.00MHz is reached and the unit resumes to receive FM stereo 106.50MHz.
(5) The channel numbers and frequencies are displayed in the FL from channel 1 to channel 3 in order as the
confirmation display of the memory, after which FM stereo 106.50MHz reappears. (This can be displayed in the
same method as the normal tuner display.)
(6) If the ASPM key is pressed again, repeat steps (2) – (5).
(7) Scanning stops where the 3 stations are stored in memory. Perform steps (4) and (5).
(8) Even if the ASPM key is pressed later, its operation will not start. Instead, “___END___“ is displayed for 1 second
and the initial indication appears.
Supplementary notes:
(1) Operations that are not explained above are to be the same as the normal ASPM operation. Therefore, in the
first scan, only the station with the strongest electric intensity among those with the same PI code is stored in
memory, and no other station is memorized. In the second scan or later, the station that is previously stored in
memory and has the same frequency will not be memorized again. However, if other stations have the same PI
code but different frequencies, the one with the strongest electric intensity is memorized. At that time, the electric
intensity of the memorized station is ignored. By repeating scanning 3 times, 3 stations with the strongest electric
intensity may be stored in memory, even if they have the same PI code.
(2) If the POWER key is pressed, irregular data is written in the RAM check data and the microcomputer is reset.
With this operation, abnormal memory is detected during the reset process, and the microcomputer settings are
initialized.
