6.18. Heat Lamp Control Circuit
1. Heater control sequence at printing mode
a. After receiving printing data, HEATER turns on.
b. When heater temperature reaches to the Primary Temperature, Main motor starts to rotate for initializing printer engine.
c. When heater temperature reaches to the Secondary Temperature, the printing starts.
2. Circuit summary
• The temperature of the fixing part of the FUSER Unit is converted to a Voltage by THERMISTOR1 and input to IC300_pinC4,
THERMISTOR2 and input to IC300_pinC3.
• The heat lamp is turned on/off by the HTRCTL signals (IC300_pinD13/ IC300_pinC13) through the photo triac(PHT1/PHT2) and
the triac(CR1/CR2).
• Two thermostats are provided on the AC line as the safety protection devices.
• Overheat protection circuit is provided so as to prevent the Fuser unit from overheating when CPU cannot control Fuser by any
problem.
IC505 compares thermistor voltage(FUSER1_TEMP) and predetermined voltage, which is determined by 3.3V, R580 and R581.
If FUSER1_TEMP voltage becomes lower than this predetermined voltage, output of IC505_pin1 becomes "H", then Q523 turns
ON.
Once Q523 turns on, IC505_pin1 keeps "H" even after FUSER1_TEMP voltage becomes bigger than the voltage of IC505_pin3.
And when IC505_pin1 keeps "H", Q520 turn off.
IC505 compares thermistor voltage(FUSER2_TEMP) and predetermined voltage, which is determined by 3.3V, R6600 and
R661.
If FUSER2_TEMP voltage becomes lower than this predetermined voltage, output of IC505_pin7 becomes "H", then Q655 turns
ON.
Once Q655 turns on, IC505_pin7 keeps "H" even after FUSER2_TEMP voltage becomes bigger than the voltage of IC505_pin5.
And when IC505_pin7 keeps "H", Q656 turn off.
As the result, once Fuser temperature exceed 240°C (this temperature is abnormal condition), no current is supplied to Fuser
lamp.
• Watch dog error circuit is provided so as to prevent the heater keeps ON in case of software run.
In normal mode, software toggles IC300-D1pin, then IC500-4pin becomes "L" and HTRCTL1 signal gets across to Q519, and
HTRCTL2 signal gets across to Q657.
If the lock of software happens, this toggle operation becomes impossible, then IC500-4pin becomes "H" and Q536 turns on.
It forces Q519 and Q657 to turn off regardless of software operation.
