Subject: Pairing main board and loader
Pairing loader and main board.
Make sure to read the entire process before starting.
This software procedure allows you to replace a loader or a main board.
IMPORTANT: This pairing must be performed in an ESD-protected environment!

1. To perform this pairing, the following equipment is needed:
• PC with USB port.
• BDX Service KIT, part number: BDX SERVICE KIT.
• BDX Service KIT, part number: BDX SERVICE KIT.
(Contains USB cable-JIG and a few loose
4-pin connectors).
NOTE: this kit is identical to the BDS2-5/BDT20 kit, so if you already have this kit, there is
no reason to order a new kit.

• Software package including drivers to be downloaded from the FTP server:

• 2D Scanner. (Smartphones can be used instead, provided
they can read 2D bar codes.

1B. First time only: Install the BDX service kit drivers (PL2303_drivers.exe) before inserting
the kit into the USB port, and restart the PC. It may be necessary to re-install drivers
again after inserting the kit into the USB port. This may vary with different PCs.

Disassemble BDS. Unscrew the loader. Locate the 2D bar codes placed on the rear of the laser
pick-up. Do not disconnect loader from main board yet.
3.
Connect the kit to the main board’s XP18 connector.

4.
Power on the BDS unit, and run software tool “Rpower.exe”
5.
Scan the 2D barcode on the loader into the “Bar Code” text field.
Example of a 2D code read-out:

Make sure that the software tool’s Com Port No. is the same as the PC’s Com Port No!
Tips to read the barcode: Take an image of the barcode with another smartphone or camera,
enlarge the image on its display. Now it is easier to scan this enlarged barcode image.

Press “Write” button shown on PC screen image above to start the initialization.

If round “Pass” field turns green, the pairing was successful. If ”NG” turns red, pairing failed.
8.
Power off the set, and re-assemble the set.
9.
Restart the set. Make sure to test with CD, DVD and BD discs.
