APPENDIX B: REPLACING THE LAMP
The following instructions are from the Operating Instructions manual for this model.
Replacing the Lamp
The projection lamp, like all lamps, will eventually
lose brightness and functionality, which affects the
overall performance of your TV. How long the
lamp maintains its brightness will vary depending
upon your usage and environmental conditions. To
maintain the quality of your viewing experience,
Sony recommends that you replace the lamp (1)
after approximately 8,000 hours of use; (2) when
the screen becomes dark or the color looks
unusual; (3) when the LAMP LED on the front of
the TV blinks; or (4) when the lamp replacement
message appears on the TV screen.

APPENDIX D: PERFORMING MECHANICAL GEOMETRY ADJUSTMENTS
Using the illustrations provided on the following page, follow these instructions to perform
mechanical geometry adjustments after the TV is completely reassembled.
mechanical geometry adjustments after the TV is completely reassembled.
Important: The TV must be completely and securely reassembled before making
these adjustments
To confi rm proper adjustments, use the Cross-Hatch pattern
(Service Mode EPP Patterns).
Perform the adjustments in the following sequence.
1. Remove the Vertical Position Support plate by removing the silver screw, then pull the plate
straight off.
2. Perform Vertical geometry adjustment to achieve the best possible straight up-and-down
vertical alignment of both the right and left sides of the picture. Grasp the adjuster knob and
slide right or left into positions 1 through 5.
NOTE: Use the screen assembly bezel inner edges as your reference and align the cross-
hatch outer most right and left lines to this edge.

NOTE: Use the screen assembly bezel inner edges as your reference and align the cross-
hatch outer most right and left lines to this edge.
3. Re-install and securely screw the Vertical Position Support plate back into position. Make
sure to rotate the plate to the proper tab thickness for effective vertical position support.
NOTE: There are four different tab thicknesses to choose from on the inner side of the plate.
With the plate off, note the position of the Optical Block post in the chassis hole and the area
below the tab to choose the proper thickness.

4. After reinstalling the Vertical Position Support plate, confi rm that the Vertical Geometry
adjustment is OK.
5. If the Vertical Geometry has shifted repeat steps 1 through 4 until you have achieved the
best possible Vertical Geometry on the picture.
If the Vertical Geometry is OK after re-installing the Vertical Position Support plate, then
proceed to Step 6.

6. Perform the Horizontal Geometry adjustment to achieve the best possible straight horizontal
edge along the top of the picture by removing the silver screw for the adjustment.
NOTE: The screw goes through the hole in the plastic chassis and a hole in the internal
adjustment wheel.
Turn the adjustment knob with a quarter until a hole on the internal wheel aligns with the
hole in the chassis. Reinstall the screw securely and check the horizontal alignment on the
screen.
Repeat this process if needed until you achieve the best possible horizontal geometry. Use
the screen assembly bezel upper inner edge as your reference and align the cross-hatch
upper most line to this edge.
