Customizing Your Camcorder

Changing the menu settings
To change the mode settings in the menu settings, select the menu items with the SEL/
PUSH EXEC dial. The default settings can be partially changed. First, select the icon,
then the menu item and then the mode.
(1) In standby, or when the POWER switch is set to VCR or MEMORY, press
MENU.
(2) Turn the SEL/PUSH EXEC dial to select the desired icon, then press the dial to
set it.
(3) Turn the SEL/PUSH EXEC dial to select the desired item, then press the dial to
set it.
(4) Turn the SEL/PUSH EXEC dial to select the desired mode, then press the dial
to set it.
(5) If you want to change other items, select 
 RETURN and press the dial, then
repeat steps 2 to 4.

To make the menu display disappear
Press MENU.
Menu items are displayed as the following icons:

Selecting the mode setting of each item

 is the default setting.
Menu items differ depending on the position of the POWER switch.
The LCD screen or viewfinder screen shows only the items you can operate at the
moment.

Meaning
To automatically adjust the electronic
shutter* speed.

*About the electronic shutter
The electronic shutter is the function used to adjust the shutter speed electrically.
Notes on the SteadyShot function
•The SteadyShot function will not correct excessive camera-shake.
•Attachment of a conversion lens (optional) may influence the SteadyShot function.
If you cancel the SteadyShot function
The SteadyShot OFF indicator 
 appears. Your camcorder prevents excessive
compensation for camera-shake.

appears during formatting. “COMPLETE”
appears when formatting is finished.

Formatting erases all information on the “Memory Stick”
Check the contents of the “Memory Stick” before formatting:
•Formatting erases the protected image data on the “Memory Stick.”
Notes on formatting
•Supplied or optional “Memory Stick”s have been formatted at the factory. Formatting
with this camcorder is not required.
•While the display shows “FORMATTING,” do not turn the POWER switch, press any
button, or eject a “Memory Stick.”
•You cannot format a “Memory Stick” if the write-protect tab on the “Memory Stick” is
set to LOCK.
•Format again if the message “ ” appears.
If formatting fails
The “  FORMAT ERROR” message appears.
