DISCHARGING OF THE FLASHLIGHT POWER SUPPLY CAPACITOR
The power supply capacitor (ST-114 board C8404, 8405) of the flash are charged up to the maximum 300V potential.
There is a danger of electric shock by this high voltage when the capacitors are handled by hand. The electric shock is caused by the charged
voltage which is kept without discharging when the main power of the unit is simply turned off. Therefore, the remaining voltage must be
discharged as described below.
4-1.
PREPARING THE SHORT JIG
To preparing the short jig, a small clip is attached to each end of a resistor of 1k
/1W (1-215-869-11)
Wrap insulating tape fully around the reads of the resistor to prevent electric shock.
4-2.
DISCHARGING THE  CAPACITOR
1
Open the cabinet (G) assembly.
2
Remove the cabinet top.
3
Connect the CL8404 (Check land of discharge) on the ST-114 board and the MD frame by using the short jig for about 10 seconds.

1-2. SELF-DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
1.
SELF-DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
When problems occur while the unit is operating, the self-diagnosis
function starts working, and displays on the viewfinder, or LCD
screen what to do.
Details of the self-diagnosis functions are provided in the Instruction
manual.
2.
SELF-DIAGNOSIS DISPLAY
When problems occur while the unit is operating, the counter of the
viewfinder or LCD screen consists of an alphabet and 4-digit number,
which blinks at 3.2Hz. This 5-character display indicates the
“repaired by:”, “block” in which the problem occurred, and “detailed
code” of the problem.
Note:
The self-diagnosis display data will be kept even if the lithium battery (BT8601 of Control switch block (ZM11600)) is removed.

Inspect the lens block focus MR sensor (Pin ql, wa of CN3801 of
LD-176 board) when focusing is performed when the focus buttons
of the touch panel are pressed in the focus manual mode, and the
focus motor drive circuit (IC3801 of LD-176 board) when the
focusing is not performed.
Inspect the lens block zoom MR sensor (Pin qh, qk of CN3801 of
LD-176 board) when zooming is performed when the zoom lever
is operated, and the zoom motor drive circuit (IC3801 of LD-176
board) when zooming is not performed.
Check whether the flexible board of the lens is broken, and check
whether it is inserted imperfectly. If there is no problem in the
flexible board, inspect the focus/zoom motor drive circuit (IC3801
of LD-176 board).
Inspect pitch angular velocity sensor (SE8201 of IR-055 board)
peripheral circuits.
Inspect yaw angular velocity sensor (SE8202 of IR-055 board)
peripheral circuits.
Checking or replacement of the flash unit.
