You  can  display  the  general  playback  status  on  the 
screen.  Some  items  can  be  changed  using  the  menu. 
To  use  the  on-screen  display:

1.  Press  DISPLAY  during  playback  or  Pause.

2.  Press        /        to  select  an  item.

The  selected  item  is  highlighted.

3.  Press  ENTER  to  access  sub-menu.  Press        /      and 

ENTER  to  execute  the  setting.  You  can  also  use  the 
number  buttons  if  appropriate  (e.g.  Inputting  the 
title  number).

On-Screen  Display  items:
1.Title
2.Chapter 
3.Audio
4.Subtitle
5.Angle
6.T.  Time  (Title  Time)
7.C.  Time  (Chapter  Time)
8.Repeat 
9.Time  Disp.

In  Play,  Pause,  Search  or  Slow  Motion  mode,  the 
corresponding  icon  appears  in  the  top  left  corner 
of  the  Display  menu.

Some  discs  may  not  provide  all  of  the  features 
described  on  the  next  page.

The  items  of  On-Screen  Display  can  be  changed 
during  playback.

Press  DISPLAY  or  RETURN  to  exit  the  display 
menu.

Use  the  number  buttons  of  remote  when  change 
the  items  of  Title,  Chapter,  T.  Time,  C.  Time,  and 
Angle.

For  the  default  of  Time  Disp  item  is  Title  Elapsed, 
it  is  to  change  the  item  only  in  Display  menu.

DVDs  may  offer  menus  that  allow  you  to  access 
special  features.  To  use  the  disc  menu,  press                           
TOP  MENU.  Input  the  corresponding  number  or  use 
the        /        /        /        buttons  to  highlight  your  selection.

Then  press  ENTER.

1.  Press  MENU.  If  the  current  title  has  a  menu,  the 

menu  appears  on  the  screen.  Otherwise,  the  disc 
menu  may  appear.

2.  The  menu  offers  features  such  as  camera  angles, 

spoken  language  and  subtitle  options,  and 
chapters  for  the  title.

Press        /        /        /        and  ENTER,  or  press  the  number 
button(s)  to  select  desired  item.

When  a  disc  has  more  than  one  title,  you  can  move  to 
another  title.

1.  Press  DISPLAY  during  playback.

2.  Press        /        to  select  Title  item  and  press  ENTER.

3.  Press  number  buttons  to  enter  title  number.

Use  remote  to  change  Title.

When  a  title  on  a  disc  has  more  than  one  chapter, 
you  can  move  to  another  chapter  as  follows:

Press  PREV            /NEXT            briefly  during  playback 
to  return  to  the  beginning  of  the  current  chapter  or 
to  select  the  next  chapter.

Press  PREV            twice  briefly  to  step  back  to  the 
previous  chapter.

To  go  directly  to  any  chapter  during  DVD 
playback,  press  DISPLAY  and  press        /        to  select 
the  chapter  item.  Press  ENTER  and  use  number 
buttons  to  enter  the  chapter  number.

To  go  to  the  previous  or  next  chapter  during  DVD 
playback,  press  any  number  button  to  display 
“Direct  Search  Dialogue”  on  the  LCD  screen,  and 
enter  a  2-digit  chapter  number  using  the  number 
buttons.  To  move  to  any  title,  move  the  Direct 
Search  Dialogue  to  left  by          button.  Operate  as 
instructed  above.

Use  remote  to  change  the  Chapter.

To  start  playing  at  any  chosen  time  on  the  disc:

1.  Press  DISPLAY  during  playback.

2.  Press        /        to  select  T.  Time  item  or  C.  Time  item 

and  press  ENTER.  “0:00:00”  appears.

3.  Use  the  number  buttons  to  enter  the  required  start 

time  in  hours,  minutes,  and  seconds  from  left  to 
right.

4.  Playback  starts  from  the  selected  time.

Use  remote  to  do  Time  Search.

The  time  search  functions  may  not  be  available  on 
some  DVD  discs.

Press  AUDIO  repeatedly  during  playback  to  hear  a 
different  audio  language  or  audio  track.                                               
This  operation  works  only  with  discs  on  which 
multiple  audio  soundtrack  languages  are  recorded.

 

The  Audio  language  functions  may  not  be  available 
on  some  DVD  discs.

It  is  possible  to  change  the  subtitle  language  to  a 
different  language  from  the  one  selected  at  the  initial 
settings.  (See  page  40  for  further  info.)

This  operation  works  only  with  discs  on  which 
multiple  subtitle  languages  are  recorded.

1.  Press  DISPLAY  during  playback.

2.  Press        /        to  select  the  subtitle  item  and  press 

ENTER.

3.  Press        /        repeatedly  until  the  desired  Subtitle 

is  selected.  Each  time  this  button  is  pressed,  the 
LCD  screen  display  changes.

The  subtitles  functions  may  not  be  available  on 
some  DVD  discs.

If  the  disc  contains  scenes  recorded  at  different 
camera  angles,  you  can  change  to  a  different 
camera  angle  during  playback.

1.  Press  ANGLE  during  playback.

2.  Press  ANGLE  repeatedly  until  the  desired  Angle 

is  selected  or  press  DISPLAY  to  select  angle.

You  cannot  change  the  angle  during  Slow  F/R 

and  Scan  F/R  playback.

The  angle  mark  icon  appears  only  when  “Angle 

Mark”  in  the  “SETUP”  menu  is  set  to  “On”.

Use  remote  to  change  Angle.

TIP:  The  angle  indicator  will  appear  on  the  screen 
during  scenes  recorded  at  different  angles  as  an 
indication  that  angle  switching  is  possible.

Each  time  this  button  is  pressed,  the  LCD  screen 
changes  as  shown  below  and  the  disc  will  repeat  a 
chapter  or  title  (DVD).

Chapter:  repeat  the  current  chapter

All:  repeat  the  disc

Off:  do  not  play  repeatedly

Repeat  play  may  not  work  correctly  with  some  DVDs.

To  repeat  a  sequence

1.  Press  A-B  during  playback  at  your  chosen  starting 

point.  “          A”  appears  briefly  on  the  screen.

2.  Press  A-B  again  at  your  chosen  end  point.  “          AB” 

appears  briefly  on  the  screen  and  the  repeat 
sequence  begins.

3.  Press  A-B  again  to  cancel.

A-B  repeat  can  only  be  used  within  a  single  title.

A-B  repeat  can  be  used  in  the  following  modes: 
Play,  Pause,  F/R  Slow,  FF1,  FR1

You  can  change  the  time  display  during  playback

1.  Press  DISPLAY  during  playback.

2.  Select  “Time  Disp”  using        /        and  press  ENTER.

3.  Select  a  type  of  time  display  from  among  the 

following  using        /        and  press  ENTER: 

Title  Elapsed,  Title  Remain,  Chapter  Elapsed, 
Chapter  Remain.

For  the  default  of  Time  Disp  item  is  Title  Elapsed,  it 
is  to  change  the  item  only  in  Display  menu.

This  player  can  play  MP3  formatted  recordings  on 
CD-ROM,  CD-R,  CD-RW,  DVD±R  or  DVD±RW  discs.

When  you  insert  an  audio  CD,  Track  number  and 
Time  appear  on  the  screen.

To  go  to  the  beginning  of  the  current  track  or  the  next 
track,  press  PREV            /NEXT            during  playback.  To 
go  to  the  previous  track,  press  PREV            twice.

If  you  press  DISPLAY  during  CD  playback,  the 
following  will  appear  on  the  LCD  screen  in  order:

Track  Elapsed,  Track  Remain,  Disc  Elapsed,  Disc 
Remain,  Display  Off.

1.  Press        /        to  select  a  folder,  and  press  ENTER 

to  see  the  folder  contents.

2.  Press        /        to  select  a  track  then  press  PLAY  or 

ENTER.  Playback  starts.

The  name  of  the  current  folder  appears  here. 
It  is  displayed  in  the  form  of  “\..\”  showing  the 
folder's  path.

To  return  to  the  Folder  list,  press        /        to  select   
and  press  ENTER.

To  go  to  the  previous  or  next  page  of  the  list, 
press  PREV          /NEXT            in  stop  mode.

Press  PAUSE  during  playback.

To  exit  pause  mode,  press  PLAY  or  PAUSE.

When  you  press  STOP  during  CD  playback, 
“Resume”  appears  on  the  LCD  screen.  Press  PLAY 
to  resume  playback  from  the  point  where  STOP  was 
pressed.

When  you  press  STOP  during  MP3  playback,                             
“      ”changes  to  “      ”  on  the  LCD  screen.

Press  PLAY  or  ENTER,  Play  will  start  from  the 
beginning  of  the  current  highlighted  file.

Press  PREV/NEXT(            or            )  briefly  during 
playback  to  go  to  the  previous  or  next  file.

To  go  to  the  previous  or  next  track  during  CD 
playback,  press  any  number  button  to  display 
“Direct  Search  Dialogue”  on  the  LCD  screen, 
and  enter  a  2-digit  file  number  using  the  number 
buttons.

1.  Press  SCAN/SLOW  (          or          )  during  playback. 

The  player  will  now  go  into  SEARCH  mode.

2.  Press  SCAN/SLOW  (          or          )  repeatedly  to 

search  speed  and  direction  are  indicated  on  the 
menu  screen.

3.  To  exit  SEARCH  mode,  press  PLAY.

Press  REPEAT  repeatedly  during  playback  to 
select  a  repeat  mode.

CD
Track:  repeat  the  current  track
All:  repeat  all  the  tracks  on  a  disc
Off:  return  to  normal  playback(No  display)
MP3
Repeat  One:  repeat  the  current  file
Repeat  Folder:  repeat  all  the  files  in  the  current 

folder

Off:  return  to  normal  playback  (No  display)
DivX
Repeat  One:  repeat  the  current  file
Repeat  Folder:  repeat  all  the  files  in  the  current       

folder

Off:  return  to  normal  playback  (No  display)

1.  To  repeat  a  sequence  during  disc  playback,  press 

A-B  at  your  chosen  starting  point.  The  Repeat  icon 
and  “          A”  appear  on  the  menu  screen.

2.  Press  A-B  again  at  your  chosen  end  point.  The 

repeat  icon  and  “          AB”  appear  on  the  menu 
screen,  and  the  sequence  begins  to  play 
repeatedly.

3.  To  exit  the  sequence  and  return  to  normal  play, 

press  A-B  again.  The  Repeat  icon  disappears  from 
the  menu  screen.

Sampling  frequency:  within  11-48kHz  (MP3)

Bit  rate:  within  32-320kbps(MP3)

The  player  cannot  read  an  MP3  file  that  has  a  file 
extension  other  that  “.mp3”.

CD-R  physical  formal  should  be  ISO  9660.

If  you  record  MP3  files  using  software  that  cannot 
create  a  file  system  (e.g.  Direct-CD),  it  is  impossible 
to  playback  MP3  files.  We  recommend  that  you  use 
Easy-CD  Creator,  which  creates  an  ISO  9660  file 
system.

File  names  should  have  a  maximum  of  14  letters 
and  must  incorporate  an  .mp3  extension.

They  should  not  contain  special  letters  such  as       
/  ?  *  :  “  <  >  |  etc.

The  total  number  of  files  on  the  disc  able  to  be 
played  is  about  648.

The  total  number  of  folders  on  the  disc  able  to  be 
played  is  about  299.

When  playing  back  an  MP3  in  VBR  mode,  the 
displayed  Bit  Rate  will  be  incorrect.  The  Time 
search  function  and  time  counter  may  not  work 
correctly  during  the  playback  of  an  MP3  in  VBR 
mode.

The  number  of  files  and  folders  on  the  disc  able  to 
be  played  is  determined  by  the  recording 
conditions,  but  the  total  number  cannot  exceed 
648.

If  layer  1  and  layer  2  of  MPEG  1  are  not 
compatible  with  the  player,  noise  may  be  heard 
during  playback  of  files  in  these  formats.

This  DVD  player  requires  discs  and  recordings  to 
meet  certain  technical  standards  in  order  to  achieve 
optimal  playback  quality.  Pre-recorded  DVDs  are 
automatically  set  to  these  standards.  There  are 
many  different  types  of  recordable  disc  formats 
(including  CD-R  containing  MP3  files)  and  these 
require  certain  pre-existing  conditions  (see  above) 
to  ensure  compatible  playback.

The  program  function  enables  you  to  store  the 
playback  order  of  your  favorite  tracks  from  any 
disc  in  the  player  memory.

1.  Insert  a  disc.

2.  Press  PROGRAM.

The  Program  list  appears  on  the  LCD  screen.

3.  Select  the  program  step  number  using        /        /        /        .

4.  Enter  the  track  numbers  using  the  number 

buttons.

Program  list

5.    Repeat  steps  3  and  4  to  program  other  tracks.
