Using the display
You can check information about the CD using the 
display.
To check the total track number and 
playing time of the CD
Press Ą ȫ to stop the CD playback.
Total track number
Total playing time
To check the remaining time
Press DISPLAY Ȭ on the unit while playing a CD. The 
display changes as follows:
The current track number and playing time

The current track number and the remaining 
time of the current track*

The number of tracks left and the time 
remaining on the CD
* For a track whose number is more than 20, the remaining time 
appears as “− − : − −” in the display.
Playing tracks repeatedly 
(Repeat Play)
You can play tracks repeatedly in normal, Shuffle or 
Program play modes.

Playing tracks in random order 
(Shuffle 
Play)
You can play tracks in random order.

“CD” appears in the display.

Press MODE Ȯ repeatedly until “SHUF” appears in 
the display.

Press à ȫ to start Shuffle Play.
On the remote
To select the CD function, press FUNCTION Ⱦ
repeatedly until “CD” appears in the display.
To cancel Shuffle Play
Stop playing first. Then press MODE Ȯ repeatedly until 
“SHUF” disappears from the display.
Tip
During Shuffle Play, you cannot select the previous track by pressing 
ùˎÃ

 on the remote) ȯ.
Other Operations
Creating your own program 
(Program
Play)
You can arrange the playing order of up to 20 tracks on 
a CD.

Press CD ȳ.
“CD” appears in the display.

Press MODE Ȯ repeatedly until “PGM” flashes in the 
display.

remote) ȯ then press ENTER ȯ for the tracks you 
want to program in the order you want.

Press à ȫ to start Program Play.
On the remote

To select the CD function, press FUNCTION Ⱦ
repeatedly until “CD” appears in the display.
ˎ
After you have selected “PGM”, press the number 
buttons ȿ for the tracks you want to program in the 
order you want, and then ENTER ȯ.
To cancel Program Play
Stop playing first. Then press MODE Ȯ repeatedly until 
“PGM” disappears from the display.
To delete the last track of the program
Press CLEAR ɀ on the remote while the player is 
stopped.
To check the order of tracks before play
Press ENTER ȯ.
Every time you press the button, the track number 
appears in the programed order.
To change the current program
Press Ą ȫ once if the CD is stopped and twice if the 
CD is playing. The current program will be erased. 
Then create a new program following the programing 
procedure.
Tips
ˎ
If you try to program 21 tracks or more, “FULL” will appear in the 
display.
ˎ
You can play the same program again, since the program is saved 
until you open the CD tray or turn off the power of the unit.
Presetting FM or AM radio stations
You can store radio stations into the unit’s memory. You 
can preset up to 30 radio stations, 20 for FM and 10 for 
AM in any order.

AUTO PRESET ȴ on the unit to 
select the band.

Hold down RADIO BAND
ˎ
AUTO PRESET ȴ on the 
unit for 2 seconds until “AUTO” flashes in the display.
3
Press ENTER ȯ while “AUTO” flashes in the display.
The stations are stored in memory from the lower 
frequencies to the higher ones. 
If a station cannot be preset automatically
You need to preset a station with a weak signal manually.

Press RADIO BAND

AUTO PRESET ȴ on the unit to 
select the band.

Tune in a station you want.
3
Hold down ENTER ȯ on the unit for 2 seconds until 
the preset number flashes in the display.
4
Press PRESET/CATEGORY + or – ȯ on the unit until 
the preset number you want for the station flashes 
in the display.
5
Press ENTER ȯ on the unit.
The new station replaces the old one.
On the remote

Press RADIO
ˎ
BAND ȴ repeatedly until the band 
you want appears in the display.

Tune in a station you want.
3
Hold down the number buttons ȿ that you want to 
preset the new station on for about 2 seconds.
To select a one-digit preset number, hold down the 
number for about 2 seconds.
To select a two-digit preset number, press the first 
digit, and then hold down the second digit for about 
2 seconds. 
(Examples)
For preset number1: Hold down 1 ȿ for about 2 
seconds.
For preset number 12: Press 1 ȿ, and then hold down 
2 ȿ for about 2 seconds.
Tip
The preset radio stations remain in memory even if you unplug the 
AC power cord or remove the batteries.
Playing preset FM or AM radio 
stations

Press RADIO BAND

AUTO PRESET ȴ on the unit to 
select the band.

Press PRESET/CATEGORY + or – ȯ on the unit 
(PRESET + or – ȯ on the remote) to tune in the 
stored station.
On the remote

Press RADIO

BAND ȴ.

Press the number buttons ȿ, and then press ENTER 
ȯ to tune in the stored station.
(Examples)
For preset number 1: Press 1 ȿ, and then ENTER ȯ.
For preset number 12: Press 1, 2 ȿ, and then ENTER

Presetting satellite radio channels
You can preset up to 20 XM and 20 SIRIUS channels.

Do steps 1 to 5 of “To listen to XM or SIRIUS” to 
select the channel you want to preset.

Hold down ENTER ȯ for 2 seconds or more.
The preset number “1” (default setting) flashes if it 
is the first time to do the procedure, or the preset 
number immediately following the last preset number 
added.

Press PRESET/CATEGORY ȯ (PRESET + or – ȯ on 
the remote) repeatedly to select your desired preset 
number.
4
Press ENTER ȯ.
Note
You cannot preset XM or SIRIUS channels except when you receive 
the channel.
Playing preset satellite radio 
channels
1
Do steps 1 to 4 of “To listen to XM or SIRIUS” to 
select the channel you want to preset.
2
Press PRESET/CATEGORY + or – ȯ (PRESET + or – ȯ
on the remote) repeatedly to select your desired 
preset channel in All Channel mode. 
To view XM/SIRIUS information
Each time you press DISPLAY Ȭ on the unit, the display 
will change as follows;
“CH NAME”
Channel name

Preset number/Channel number (for 4 seconds)

Category name
* In the case of SIRIUS, the name of the composer is shown with 
artist name.
Restricting access to specific 
channels (SIRIUS only) 
Parental Lock
You can restrict access to certain channels using 
your own password.  The password is set to “0000” 
as the default.  Change the password before you use 
this function for the first time (see “To change the 
password”).

While the SIRIUS channel you want to lock is 
selected, press PARENTAL LOCK Ɂ on the remote.
“LOCK” flashes in the display.

Press ENTER ȯ.
“ENTERCODE” appears in the display.

Enter a 4-digit password using the number buttons 
ȿ on the remote.
“COMPLETE” appears in the display. If “INVALID” 
appears, repeat steps 1 to 3. 
To delete the number you have entered
Press CLEAR ɀ on the remote repeatedly.
To change the password

While the SIRIUS channel is selected, press 
PARENTAL LOCK Ɂ on the remote repeatedly until 
“EDIT CODE” flashes in the display.

Press ENTER ȯ.
“OLD CODE” appears in the display.

Enter the current 4-digit password using the 
number buttons ȿ on the remote. 
“NEW CODE” appears in the display.

Enter a new 4-digit password using the number 
buttons ȿ on the remote. 
“CONFIRM” appears in the display. 
5
Re-enter the new password to confirm it.
“COMPLETE” appears in the display.  If “INVALID” 
appears, repeat steps 1 to 5.
To listen to the locked channels
1
Select a locked channels you want to listen to using 
the number buttons ȿ on the remote.
“ENTERCODE” appears in the display.
2
Enter your 4-digit password using the number 
buttons ȿ on the remote.
The channel is tuned in.
To unlock a channel
1
While the SIRIUS channel you want to unlock is 
selected, press PARENTAL LOCK Ɂ on the remote 
repeatedly until “UNLOCK” flashes in the display.

Press ENTER ȯ.
“COMPLETE” appears in the display. 
Notes
ˎ
When you select a channel using TUNE/CHANNEL + or – ̚ in All 
Channel mode or Category mode, locked channels are skipped.
ˎ
The display will return to the original indication if you press Ą ̖
or if no entry is made for a set period of time after you have been 
prompted to enter the password.
ˎ
When the unit is reset to the factory settings, the Parental Lock 
password returns to the default (“0000”), but Parental Lock settings 
are not removed.
ˎ
You cannot preset locked channels.
ˎ
If you set the Parental Lock for a preset channel, the preset 
information for that channel returns to the default.
ˎ
You cannot set the Parental Lock for channels 0 or 184.
Falling asleep to music 
1
Play the music source you want.

Press SLEEP Ⱥ on the unit to display “SLEEP.”
3
Press SLEEP Ⱥ on the unit to select the minutes 
until the unit goes off automatically.
Each time you press the button, the indication changes 
as follows: 
“AUTO*” ‚ “60MIN” ‚ “30MIN” ‚ “20MIN” ‚
“10MIN” ‚ “OFF”.
* When you select “AUTO”, the CD stops playing in 90 minutes at 
most and the unit goes off automatically. When you are listening 
to the radio, the radio goes off in 90 minutes.
If 4 seconds have passed after you pressed SLEEP Ⱥ,
the minutes in the display are entered.
When the preset time has passed, the unit goes off 
automatically. 
To cancel the sleep function
Press POWER ȩ to turn off the power.
Tip
The display’s backlight goes off while sleeping time is active.
Connecting optional component
You can enjoy the sound from a PC, TV, VCR, portable 
digital music player, etc. through the speakers of this unit.
Be sure to turn off the power of each component before 
making any connections.
For details, refer to the instruction manual of the 
component to be connected.

Connect the AUDIO IN jack ȷ on the unit to the 
line output jack of the portable digital music player 
or other components using an audio connecting 
cable* (not supplied).
* For a PC:  use a cable which fills the connector of your PC.
For a TV or VCR:  use a cable with a stereo-mini plug on one 
end and two phono plugs on the other end.
For a portable digital music player:  use a cable with a stereo-
mini plug on both ends.

Turn the unit and the connected component on.
3
Press AUDIO IN ȵ on the unit and start playing 
sound on the connected component.
The sound from the connected component is output 
from the speakers.
