SECTION  3
TEST  MODE
1.  TEST  MODES  OTHER  THAN  THE  TEST  MENU
These are executable test mode even if not entering the test menu.
1-1. Cold Reset
Procedure:
1.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn the power on.
2.  Press the three buttons [INPUT SELECTOR], [VOLUME –] 
and [
?/1
] simultaneously.
3.  The message “COLD RESET” appears on the fl uorescent indi-
cator tube, then turn the power off.
1-2. AM Step Change (SA-WCT500: US and Canadian 
models)
Procedure:
1.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn the power on.
2.  Press the [INPUT SELECTOR] button to select the “TUNER 
AM”.
3.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn the power off.
4.  While pressing the [INPUT SELECTOR] button, press the 
[
?/1
] button.
5.  It turns power on and display “AM 9k Step” or “AM 10k 
Step”, and thus the tuning interval is changed over.
2.  TEST  MODES  IN  THE  TEST  MENU
These are the test modes done in the test menu.
Prepare the remote commander (RM-ANP037) of the attachment 
for this set.
Setting method of the test menu:
1.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn the power on.
2.  Press the button in order of the [RETURN] 
→ [ENT] → [0] 
→ [1] → [0] → [SOUND FIELD] on the remote commander 
(Make the interval when each button is pressed within two sec-
onds).
3.  The message “TEST MENU” appears on the fl uorescent indi-
cator tube and enter the test menu.
2-1.  Panel test Mode
Procedure:
1.  Enter the test menu.
2.  Press the [V] and [v] buttons on the remote commander to 
select the “PANEL”, and press the [ENT] button.
3.  All segments in the fl uorescent indicator tube are lighted up. 
And half segments in the fl uorescent indicator tube are lighted 
up, others half segments in the fl uorescent indicator tube are 
lighted up, then all segments in the fl uorescent indicator tube 
are lighted up. These operation is repeated.
4.  When all segments in the fl uorescent indicator tube are lighted 
up in the state of step 3, press the [VOLUME +] button on the 
remote commander and model information is displayed on the 
fl uorescent indicator tube.
 
Each time the [VOLUME +] button on the remote commander 
is pressed, the display changes from destination information, 
MC version, SYS version, UI version, ST version, TA version, 
DSP version, TM version, CLA version, CEC version, SAIR 
version in this order, and returns to the model information dis-
play.
5.  In the state of step 3, press the [VOLUME –] button on the 
remote commander and “K 0” is displayed on the fl uorescent 
indicator tube.
 
“K 0” value increases whenever a button on the set is pressed. 
However, once a button has been pressed, it is no longer taken 
into account.
 
All buttons on the set is pressed, “OK” and “K 4” are alter-
nately displayed on the fl uorescent indicator tube.
6.  To release from this mode, press the [
?/1
] button.
2-2.  AMP Test Mode
Not used for the servicing.
Press the [
?/1
] button if having entered this mode.
2-3.  Tuner Factory Preset Change
Not used for the servicing.
Press the [
?/1
] button if having entered this mode.
2-4.  Tone Test Check
Procedure:
1.  Enter the test menu.
2.  Press the [V] and [v] buttons on the remote commander to 
select the “TONE TEST”, and press the [ENT] button on the 
remote commander.
3.  The output speaker is displayed on the fl uorescent indicator 
tube. At this time, the audio output check from each speaker is 
possible.
4.  To release from this mode, press the [
?/1
] button.
2-5.  VACS Level Display On/off Change
Not used for the servicing.
Press the [
?/1
] button if having entered this mode.
2-6.  VACS On/off Change
Not used for the servicing.
Press the [

2-7.  DSP Halt Mode

select the “VUCOM XXXX” (XXXX: video 
μ-com version).
2-11.  Faroudja Version Display
Procedure:
1.  Enter the test menu.
2.  Press the [V] and [v] buttons on the remote commander to 
select the “FARO XXXX” (XXXX: faroudja version).
2-12.  Faroudja Halt Mode
Not used for the servicing.
Press the [

] button if having entered this mode.
2-13. Video 
μ-com Halt Mode
Not used for the servicing.
Press the [

2-14.  Video Calibration Setting
The brightness adjustment and the level adjustment of analog vid-
eo are adjusted by the automatic operation.
When the D-VIDEO board is exchanged, it is necessary to execute 
this mode.
Refer to “VIDEO CALIBRATION ADJUSTMENT” in “4. ELEC-
TRICAL ADJUSTMENTS” for details.
