SERVICING  NOTES
ABOUT  THE  REPAIRING  OF  BOARD
When electric parts installed by this unit are defective, replace the 
complete mounted board. Individual electrical parts that the mount 
is done cannot be exchanged.
ABOUT  THE  HANDLING  OF  THE  BATTERY  ASSY 
(BAT1)
When the BATTERY ASSY (BAT1) is removed, insulate the end 
of wire by a tape etc. to prevent short-circuited of the wire part of 
BATTERY ASSY (BAT1).

2. The change method to MSC connection
Procedure:
1.  Open the Device Manager of windows on PC.
2.  Expand the “Portable Devices”, and right click on the “WALK-
MAN” and select the “Properties”.
3.  Click the “Driver” tab, and click the “Update Driver...”.
4.  Click the “Browse my computer for driver software”.
VERSION  CHECK
Procedure:
1.  Connect “WALKMAN” to PC.
2.  Open the my computer window on PC, and open the “Informa-
tion.txt” in “WALKMAN”.
3.  “03” in “Information.txt” is a version.

NOTE  THE  MAIN  BOARD  REPLACING
When the MAIN board is replaced, the destination setting is neces-
sary.
1. Preparation
Procedure:
1.  Obtain the destination setting tool (“Change_Destination_
Tool_NW-WH500_WH300.zip”).
Note: Confi rm the method of obtaining the destination setting tool to the 
service headquarters.
2.  Connect “WALKMAN” to PC.
3.  Open the my computer window on PC, and confi rm  how 
“WALKMAN” is recognized on PC.
 
In the following example, “WALKMAN” is recognized by 
MTP connection.
 
In the following example, “WALKMAN” is recognized by 
MSC connection (at this example, it is “E”).
4.  In the MTP connection, it is necessary to change into MSC 
connection. Please refer to “2. The change method to MSC 
connection”. 
 
In the MSC connection, please refer to “3. How to use the des-
tination setting tool”.

5.  Click the “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my 
computer”.
6.  Select the “USB Mass Storage Device”, and click the “Next”.
7.  Installation is performed and a connection system is changed 
into MSC connection.
8.  Open the my computer window on PC, and confi rm “WALK-
MAN” is recognized by MSC connection.
9.  Continues to “3. How to use the destination setting tool”.
3. How to use the destination setting tool
Procedure:
1.  The drive letter of “WALKMAN” is checked (at this example, 
it is “E”).
2.  The destination setting tool suitable for the drive letter of 
checked “WALKMAN” is used.

3.  Start the destination setting tool, confi rm that the following 
message has been displayed.
4.  Select the destination. The number is input, and press the Enter 
key on PC.

5. Confi rm that the following message has been displayed, and 
select the ON/OFF of sound pressure level. The number is in-
put, and press the Enter key on PC.

6.  Select the Capacity selection. The number is input, and press 
the Enter key on PC.

7.  The destination, model name and sound pressure level are 
written, and setting is completed.

Press the Enter key on PC, close the destination setting tool 
window.
8.  Open the folder containing the destination setting tool. 
9.  It checks that the fi le of “GetProductInfo”, “output.bin” and 
“RESULT” is made. 
 
 
GetProductInfo: Data read from the unit.
 
output.bin: 
Data after processing.
 
RESULT: 
Data for a check of the contents written in the 
 unit.
 The 
“RESULT” 
fi le is opened using a binary editor and it 
checks that the destination has been changed.
