6.  Disconnect the WALKMAN from PC. Then, check if the data 
is installed correctly. Display is shifted by pressing the [
B
button on WALKMAN. If the [

pressed more than 5 times, WALKMAN exits the test mode.

7.  Reconnect WALKMAN to the PC. If PC recognizes WALK-
MAN as MTP, make WALKMAN recognize as MSC mode 
(Refer to “1-3. Setting change” on page 5).
8.  Click “Check Information” button. Then, confi rm “Compare 
OK” is displayed. After that, check the displayed data.

9. Open Windows Explorer and check that the folder, 
“FAAC2E5D...” is deleted (The folder is automatically deleted 
if step 7 is performed).

10. Exit the software and disconnect WALKMAN from the PC.

2. Format
Formatting memory 
[Format]
You can format the built-in flash memory of the player.
Note
 If the memory is formatted, all data (songs, videos, photos, etc., including sample data 
installed at the factory) will be erased. Be sure to verify the data stored in memory prior 
to formatting, and export any important data to the hard disk of your computer.
 Be sure not to initialize (format) the built-in flash memory of the player using Windows 
Explorer. If you have formatted with Windows Explorer, format again using the player.
 This function is only available in the pause mode.
  From the [Home] menu, select 
 [Settings] 
 [Common Settings] 
 [Format].
[All data including songs will be deleted. Proceed?] appears.
 Select [Yes].
[All data will be deleted. Proceed?] appears.
 To cancel the operation, select [No].
 Select [Yes].
When initialization finishes, [Memory formatted.] appears.
 To cancel the operation, select [No].
