* Title copying
When a disc is dubbed, the disc and track names that have been recorded on it will be automatically copied. However, the
disc and track names of premastered discs on the market will not be copied, owing to copyright restrictions.
In addition, when a disc name has already been recorded on the MD disc in deck B, the track names will be copied, but the
disc name will not be.

1-3. Editing Between Two MDs
(1)
One-Track MOVE
With the one-track MOVE function, a piece of music recorded on one disc can be transferred to another, making it possible
to compile favorites on MDs.
When the music data has been transferred to another disc, it will be erased from the original disc, thus posing no copyright
problems.
Fig. 4-1. One-track MOVE
With the MOVE function, the compressed music data recorded on the MD will be dubbed as is. It thus differs from regular
dubbing in the following ways.
* Equivalent to quadruple-speed dubbing
With the MD, data compressed to about 1/4 of the original data volume is recorded on the disc. Because dubbing is done
using this compressed data, the time required for dubbing will be about 1/4 of the playback time.
* Recording generation and sound quality unchanged
Because compressed data is dubbed directly, with no decoding, dubbing results in absolutely no deterioration of sound
quality.
In addition, because the original data is erased after it has been dubbed, the recording generation will also not change, even
for digital copies.

Reference: When MOVE function has been stopped while in progress
With MOVE function, after all of the music data has been recorded to the disc in deck B, the UTOC (User-TOC, disc
management information) of both the master disc and disc that has been copied to will be overwritten simultaneously.
When MOVE function is stopped because the power supply cord has been unplugged or the like, if UTOC has yet to be
overwritten, both discs will be restored to the condition they were in prior to the start of the MOVE function. If the power
supply cord is unplugged during UTOC overwriting, UTOC data will be overwritten after the cord has been plugged back in,
and MOVE operations will be completed.
(2)
ALL MOVE
When recorded track is edited, the music data may be recorded in fragmented form on the disc. At this time, areas (of two
seconds or less) that cannot be recorded to will appear within the disc, decreasing the total recording time. In addition, because
the optical blocks must also be moved, more electric power is consumed than is prior to editing.
With the ALL MOVE function, the contents of a disc on which music data has been recorded in fragmented form are
digitally copied to a blank disc in deck B, with data given continuity. When all the music data has been copied, UTOC (disc
management information) will be simultaneously overwritten for both discs, resulting in a new disc in deck B and a blank disc
in deck A.
ALL MOVE can only be used when the data destination is a blank (empty) disc. Moreover, ALL MOVE cannot be used
when the blank disc in deck B has a shorter recording time than the disc in deck A.
With ALL MOVE, the compressed data recorded on a disc is dubbed as is, the same as for one-track MOVE function. (See p.
6, 1-3(1), "One-Track Move.")

Name Copy Function
The disc and track names assigned to the disc can also be copied. However, these names cannot be copied from premastered
discs on the market. When disc or track names already recorded on a disc, a message asking whether to overwrite them will
appear.
1-4. Other
(1)
Demonstration (DEMO) Mode
With the power turned on and with no discs in either deck ("NO DISC" status), DEMO mode will be entered automatically
after approximately 10 minutes have elapsed by the internal timer. In DEMO mode, indicators explaining MDS-W1 functions
are provided. When there is key input, DEMO mode will be suspended and the internal 10-minute timer reset.
When the two CLEAR buttons on decks A and B are pressed simultaneously and no MDs have been inserted, setting can be
done so that DEMO mode is not entered. As this setting will be recorded in the master controller (IC801), it will be effective
until the power supply cord is unplugged and the master controller reset.
(2)
Playback at a Different Playback Speed (pitch control function)
Playback at different pitches and tones is possible. Dubbing can also be done at different pitches.
When the disc is removed or power turned OFF, the value set for the deck's pitch will be reset.
