Guide to Displays
Using the On-Screen Menus
This section introduces the System Menu, TOOLS
menu, and sub-menu. By using these displays, you
can perform most of the recorder’s operations.

The System Menu appears when you press

TOOLS
The TOOLS menu appears when you press
TOOLS, and displays options applicable to the

About the Title List for DVD-RWs (VR mode)
You can switch the Title List to show Original or
Playlist.
While the Title List menu is turned on, press
TOOLS and select either “Original” or “Playlist,”
and press ENTER. “PLAYLIST” appears on the
front panel display when “Playlist” is selected.

mode)” (page 62).

How to Enter Characters
You can label a title, disc, or program by entering
characters. You can enter up to 64 characters for a
title or disc name, but the actual number of

About the Teletext function
Some broadcasts systems ensure a Teletext
service* in which the complete programmes and
their data (title, date, channel, recording start time
etc.) are stored day by day. When recording a
programme, the recorder automatically takes the
programme name from the Teletext pages and
stores it as the title name. For details, see “TV
Guide Page” (page 92).
Note that the Teletext information will not appear
on your TV screen. To view the Teletext
information on your TV screen, press TV/DVD on
the remote to switch the input source to your TV.
