Procedure
Programming NVMs in the Television Set
You will require:
1. A
PC
(minimum specification 386 or better)
2.  Software to download to the NVM software. (provided on our website as described above)
3.  Software to address the NVM and read the data.  (see
(a)
 below)
4.  A hardware buffer connected between your PC printer port and the NVM in the television.  (See
(b)
 below)
5.  A connector to make contact with the NVM (see
(c)
 below).
(a)  SOFTWARE:

NK1
There are several versions of software freely available on the Internet, one version can be found at the following
location.
http://www.lancos.com/ppwin95.html
We have used Version 1.17 with great success.
(b) HARDWARE;
link2
The stated website has details of several circuits, some which are ready built and can be purchased.  The most
important thing to remember is that the circuit and the software need to be compatible otherwise configuration problems
may be encountered.

An example circuit is shown below.

The parts are available from several component suppliers for example :
Farnell order number: 178278
CPC order number: SC01153

Please take advantage of the extra data we have provided, it will speed up your repair service and, as we are
committed to providing Data for all future models, continue to help you with each successive model.
In addition there is no reason why you will not be able to add to your own portfolio of NVM data if you extract it from
working units as you come across them.
Additional Notes :
1.  We have found it beneficial to reduce the spring tension of the clip by cutting two turns off the spring and moving
the spring closer to the pivot point of the clip.
2.  With models where 2 NVMs (Dolby Models e.g. 76FW54H) are fitted it is necessary to lift the ‘Data’ (pin5) of the
print of the second NVM. If this is not done it is possible to read the NVM but not to write (contention occurs on Data
line).
3.  With the GA-1E chassis (21HT15H) It is necessary to remove R1035 and R1033 (100R surface mount) before
successful writing can occur.
4.  With the GA20 chassis (28/32JW73H) it is necessary to remove R1036 and R1038 (100R surface mount) before
successful writing can occur.
5.   When programming NVM's on later chassis, it is important to note the supply voltage.  This is normally 3.3V, and if a
The components needed to make this jig are available in a kit.  The kit includes instructions.
