On the MX‐4140N, 4141N, 5140N, 5141N (Virgo2) series of machines, if the
optional Inner Finisher (MX‐FNX9) has been installed, in some cases the paper jam
(POD1_S) occurs at the paper entrance to the Punch Unit (or the Dummy Punch
Unit paper guide). For this issue, we would like to inform you of the following
counter measure. Please take the following action when installing the MX‐FNX9 to
the Virgo2 series machines.
[Cause of Occurrence]
On the Virgo2 series, the same Delivery Follower roller used on Virgo series was
used as well as a Delivery Roller Sponge, (Virgo2 Parts Guide, section 37, no. 47,
PN: PSPO‐0011FCZZ), placed next to the delivery roller.
These were placed there as a counter measure for roller traces generated when
using Heavy Paper (300g paper).
On the other hand, however, the warp of the paper, caused when using Plain
Paper, tends to be slightly bigger due to the influence of the Delivery Sponge.
For this reason, when the MX‐FNX9 is installed to the Virgo2, in some cases, the
warped paper cannot enter the paper entrance of the Punch Unit* or the Dummy
Punch Unit*, resulting in a Paper Jam (POD1_S) depending on the paper type.
*Due to the narrow paper entrance section (height) of the Punch Unit or the
dummy punch unit paper guide. (see below)
For the Permanent countermeasure, the plan about changing the shape of the
Paper Unit from September 2012 production is now ongoing.
As soon as the detail is decided, a Technical Report will be issued.
On the combination of Virgo2 + MX‐FNX9, please take action on the machines
already installed or any new machines which will be installed, with the following
Please remove the Delivery Roller Sponge on the delivery section of the Virgo2
We are sorry for any inconvenience, but your co‐operation is highly appreciated.
